To the Stranger Things Fandom

I don’t want to call anyone out specifically or by name but I have noticed, in the past week (November 2020) an influx of AO3 users treating Archive Of Our Own as their personal fic-finding community.

There is nothing wrong with posting meta about the characters, or headcanons, or even RP though that’s not my bag of tricks. But creating a work entitled “Please Help Me Find This Fic!” and then writing down everything you can remember about the fic and hoping for comments to roll in… is not what AO3 is for. It is not a social network though friendships can certainly be formed in the comments section.

AO3 has a robust and absolutely incredibly filtering and tag system. There’s even a cheatsheet that helps you use the search terms to their fullest function. There’s the @harringroveficlibrary and @harringroveficarchive though both seem to be dormant at the time of writing. There’s also reddit and twitter and tumblr in general, to make posts and ask for help in finding  specific fic.

and yes, this is directed at the Harringrove fandom since that is the common factor of every help-me-find Stranger Things AO3 work that I’ve seen pop up.

I read this amazing piece on AO3 where Neil bites Steve and turns him into a werewolf and Billy kinda coaches him through his transition and naturally they bond.
