Growth From Judgement  “grow through what you go through”
The decisions you make in life for yourself, always sparks the interest of others. Usually, the judgement of others on the decisions you make reside from two things: they genuinely care for you and want to look out for you to make sure you do what’s best for you, or the judgement is out of pure jealously.
It’s important to be able to decipher which category judgment falls under, which can be one of the hardest things, because when people label you with certain adjectives and characteristics, you often drown in them when they don’t describe who you are. Judgement can come in all forms whether it be what you get educated in, what you wear, the places you go, or the people you hang out with. From there, its’ an endless spectrum. But one thing I learned from being a victim of judgement, is that one of its biggest benefits, is the power of growth. Judgement can be one of the biggest hurdles in your growth- especially your goals and aspirations. But if you look at the positive side of it and use it to grow, it can make you stronger and help you reach your goals faster. I struggled the most with this during my time away from home. Although the first couple months were so difficult to cope with, having a strong support system pushed me through. The biggest lessons I learned were:
It’s okay to feel hurt about anything that hinders you from doing what you enjoy- But its’ important to understand that you can’t let hindrances shut you down completely.
It’s important to open up to your friends and family and ask for help- Asking for help does not make you a weak person, it only makes you stronger.
It’s important to understand when to remove negativity out of your life, and say that you’ve had enough-Whether that means calling out the BS, or ignoring it.
My experience with judgement, has only helped me grow as a person because I was able to use everything and anything that came my way to help me work towards the person I’ve wanted to be. Overcoming other people’s thoughts and opinions about you only comes with practice. It’s still something that I struggle with, but its’ also something that I push past every day.
If I were to take away anything from the concept of judgement, I would say that fearing judgement is the biggest hurdle to growth. Overcoming the fear of judgement is the first step to becoming your best self. Click here, to read an article that highlights the 4 steps to overcoming that fear. This is how I dealt with each one:
Nothing lasts forever- Overtime, I realized that you will only be the hot topic for a little while, so stay focused on your goals and ignore the rest.
Judgement is unavoidable- As much as you try proving yourself, people will believe what they want to believe, so why waste your time and energy.
Let them judge- Use everything anyone says about you and counteract it to become stronger.
Notice your own judgements- I started ignoring what others said about me, and started judging myself more to fight my inner insecurities, and work towards a better me for myself.
To close this off- Every bud grows into a flower, despite all the harsh factors it faces. And every new door, has a new opportunity waiting, so take each careful judgement as a way of growth.

The Morning Detox
Skin Series: Part 1
Everyone has at least ONE THING they don’t like about their skin. For me, its hyperpigmentation, and MY DARK CIRCLES (if that counts as a skin problem). After at least 3 years of trying different products, one thing I learned is that its no joke when they say “you are what you eat”. The food you eat plays a huge part in the health of your skin. Eating foods targeted towards healthy skin can be super beneficial, and an easy way to skin care. Being at home for the last month, and having a “WhatsApp Mom” really got me trying new things. Every morning for the last month I drank hot water mixed with:
Grated turmeric
Grated ginger
Couple drops of lemon juice
A hint of black pepper
WHAT I LEARNED: After drinking this mix every morning for a month straight, my skin cleared up, and was glowing (meaning my moms WhatsApp article experiments definitely worked). I wanted to look into the benefits of each ingredient myself, and found this article on The Morning Detox Drink. The combination of these 4 ingredients help with a variety of different things. A few of its benefits include boosting the immune system (my moms selling point to help fight anything COVID related), helps filter toxins, and rich with Vitamin C (my selling point to help with brightening, uneven, and dull skin tones).
10/10 would recommend- the taste is not as bad as it sounds.

Do it for You ft. Google’s 20% Rule
While I was browsing through the internet, I came across an article on “Google’s 20% Rule” for its employees. With a passion for HR, and anything to do with employee motivation, I continued to look into this rule. Google’s former CEO Eric Schmidt realized the importance of giving employees time to do anything they enjoyed. He created the 20% rule, which stated that employees should be given 20% of their time to work on any project they would like. In present time, the use of this rule has led to the creation of Google’s most innovative products. Many large companies and Executive Chairs have imbibed this rule and share that 20% of our time should be dedicated to creative, unconstrained growth. Click Here, to watch a video on Google’s 20% rule. — Personally, I decided to imbibe this 20% rule into my life and do something for my own personal growth. During this crazy time, the opportunity of self-growth has been handed to us, so why not take it? For me, it was doing something that I have always wanted to do, which was starting a blog where I could write about things that I liked, and an area to literally dump my brains content. I had phases where I would start journaling once a month but would never continue. I even bought myself fancy journals, and notebooks to motivate me, but again I would never continue, and it would never lead to something satisfying. As the world is gravitated towards technology, I picked up a passion for creating random vlogs and videos with my friends, but obviously was too afraid to post them because of the one thing that haunts us all- judgement from others. But, as I was reflecting upon 2019, I realized that the only way I would become the person I want to be, is by letting myself be the person I want to be by doing things I enjoy. I once had a someone ask me what my hobbies were, and I didn’t know how to answer the question because I didn’t know what I even liked to do. Then she said to me “you don’t have any hobbies because you haven’t developed as a person”. As much as that hurt, it made me realize it was true. At the end of the day, you need to let yourself flourish and become the person you want to be, by doing things you really enjoy. And through all my loses and gains in 2019, I realized that it really doesn’t matter what other people think about you, as long as you’re doing what’s right, and you’re doing it for you! This past year, has really allowed me to grow into the person I have wanted to become by putting myself out there-whether that be doing something outside of my comfort zone, meeting new people, or simply doing things that I enjoy doing. I want you to also ask yourself if you’ve seen yourself grow. If the answer is no, take the time that we have now to do something that will help you gain new skills and develop. Truely the best advice anyone has ever given me!

Something New
I’ve never been one to write down my thoughts on paper, but I’ve always, ALWAYS wanted to start a blog of some sort. I put some thought into it, and tried to think of what and when I should post, but nothing came to mind. Then, while browsing through instagram I read a post (linked below) that said “If you don’t leave quarantine with new skills, your side hustle started, and more knowledge, you never lacked time, you lacked discipline”. So then I thought- there never really is a good time to start something new, then to start now. Despite this blog having no theme, direction, or plans, it’ll be an interesting way to share and unwind, along with looking back to it down the road, especially going into my last year of university. Welcome to U N W I N D- everyone needs a place to unwind, whats yours? Click Here, for the post that inspired me to start something new.
