Despite earning more than 100 times its production budget and becoming a cultural phenomenon upon release, Napoleon Dynamite is still often labeled a “cult classic.” Now, more than two decades later, that title fits — and the film wears it with pride. Jon Heder, who brought the iconic character to life, recently reflected on why he believes Napoleon Dynamite has earned its place in cult film history.

After the success of the first M3GAN movie, a sequel was virtually assured. The tricky part would be coming up with a new story that didn't simply tread once again over familiar terrain. But M3GAN director Gerard Johnstone, who directed and also wrote the screenplay for M3GAN 2.0, said thanks to the real world, inspiration for the sequel's story came relatively easily.
M3GAN 2.0 opens in theaters on Friday.

As Formula One racing celebrates its 75th anniversary, the world-famous motor sport gets the big-screen treatment with a new movie, F1, starring Brad Pitt as a retired Formula One driver who's brought back into the circuit as a mentor for a younger driver. Jerry Bruckheimer, who'd tackled auto racing before as a producer on Days of Thunder, said that when director Joe Kosinski pitched him a movie about Formula One, it seemed like a natural fit. Surprisingly, though, Bruckheimer said that they weren't able to land the star they really wanted for the film.
F1 opens in theaters this Friday.

For over a decade, writer and director Dean DeBlois has been the singular creative visionary behind the adored How to Train Your Dragon series. He co-wrote and co-directed the innovative first movie, then masterfully wrote and directed two critically praised sequels, bringing the epic animated series to a powerful close.
DeBlois has now embarked on a daring new phase: a live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon. With its amazing execution, this isn't just a basic remake, but a reinterpretation that has already received great acclaim from viewers and critics alike.
In bringing this fantastical world to life, DeBlois carefully preserved the heart of the original while making some inspired choices — including bringing back the formidable Gerard Butler. Originally the voice of Stoick the Vast in the animated movies, Butler returns for the live-action adaptation. DeBlois stressed that Butler was the perfect choice for the live-action movie's increased depth, not just for his strong presence but also for his aptitude to convey deep emotional complexity. The new live-action How To Train Your Dragon is now playing in theaters.

In the new film Echo Valley, Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney star as a mother and daughter who get caught up in some shady circumstances involving drug dealers, dead bodies, and deception, among other things. While the plot of the movie stretches the boundaries of trust between the two characters, the relationship between Moore and Sweeney was anything but strained. Sydney Sweeney and Julianne Moore spoke about working together for the first time on the film, and both came away from the experience with overwhelmingly positive feelings.
Echo Valley is currently streaming on Apple TV+.

When Pixar’s involved, you expect wonder—and they never disappoint. From the charm of Toy Story to their 29th film, Elio, they keep finding new ways to stir something in us. Elio tells the story about a kid with a big imagination and even bigger questions. Everything changes for Elio on what starts as just another normal day. All of a sudden, he is confused with Earth's ambassador and launched into a space awash with all sorts of wonders. As he floats through worlds of central casting and greets faces he's only just gotten to know, he begins to unglue the hard truth: the hardest journey isn't in drifting through space. It's the one that takes you back to who you were before all this happened.
Elio's aunt, Olga, played by Zoe Saldaña, draws strength and warmth from the character's energy. For Saldaña, this isn't a just movie you watch—it's one you feel. And while she's very much a part of 'Seeing the Unseeable' in the story's stunning visuals, she's also in it for the story itself. This one penetrates deep and reaches into a space that's very real.
Elio is now playing in theaters.

When Jaws hit theaters and not only terrified beachgoers—it redefined the Hollywood blockbuster. It surged past The Godfather at the box office, ultimately becoming the highest-grossing film of its time. But the magic wasn't just in the shark.
At just 27, Steven Spielberg took bold creative risks, like insisting on filming at sea—something most studios avoided. The production was plagued with challenges, especially from the mechanical shark nicknamed Bruce. But Spielberg transformed setbacks into suspense, letting imagination and sound do what CGI couldn’t.
Over the years, Spielberg has said he credits someone else for the film’s primal pull: author Peter Benchley, whose bestselling novel was the basis for the movie. Now, 50 years later, the film remains as gripping and influential as ever.
Jaws is currently available on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K, and Digital platforms, and streaming on Peacock. A new documentary, Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story, premieres July 10 on National Geographic, with a special theatrical re-release splashing into theaters August 29.

For over 40 years, the box office has been ruled by one name—a name that brings with it a nearly unrivaled combination of star power and a commitment to high-quality, excellent cinema. That name is Tom Cruise. From his surge in the early '80s to his recent stretch of breathtaking blockbusters, Cruise electrifies audiences. And if anyone's keeping score, his legacy inch by inch gives him a place in the conversation with the all-time greats.
Remember the excitement of watching him fly in Top Gun, the powerfulness of his performances in critically lauded dramas that netted him Oscar nominations, or even his unexpected comedic turns? He's done it all, pushed every conceivable boundary, and captured us with a steady devotion to his act.
The thing that distinguishes Cruise the most is the evident enthusiasm he invests in each of his on-screen as well as off-screen projects. Who else do you know that's renowned for suspending themselves from an airplane, for being a mountain climber in a vertical world, or for pulling off absolutely incredible aerial stunts? His diligence and hard work—if you can even call that a stunt—might also be considered part of the act of going the extra mile. There are no small roles, after all, in making a movie. If he doesn't make it look easy, then he surely makes it look fun. Above all, there is a sense in which he is a "filmmaker," and that title carries with it a love of the craft, a loyalty to the collaborative process, and an appreciation for both the small moments and the grand gestures that yield the magic of the movies.
Across his illustrious career, Cruise has always sensed a profound responsibility to perform. Not merely for the studios that place their faith in his visions, or the numerous crew personnel who labor mightily and under-time pressures to produce it, but above all, for the mass of fans who treat his movies as events and buy their tickets in droves.
That consistent devotion is why Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is more than just a film; it's the most recent chapter in the remarkable career of a genuine cinema icon. See it right away, playing in movie theaters everywhere.

John Wick is back, and so is Keanu Reeves, in Ballerina, a relatively new addition to the ever-expanding world of Wick. As always, Reeves is a quiet, intense presence, throwing himself fully into the role, into the film, into just about everything while the cameras are rolling.
In the course of making the film with Ana de Armas, who plays the lead role, Reeves was truly touched by her singular intensity and extreme dedication to the project. When he was recently asked to talk about his co-star, he pretty much just gushed over how much he admired her work ethic.
What we see here of the intense training process only makes us more excited for Ballerina. If this leads to anything near the breathtaking action and delicate choreography we've come to expect from the Wick franchise, we're in for a treat. And what leads us there is impressive even by the standards of the de Armas action film canon.
Ballerina is now playing in movie theaters.

There was a time—before smartphones, before streaming—when teenage life played out on TV like someone had found your journal and turned it into a script. If you remember that era, you probably remember Dawson’s Creek.
The show debuted in 1998, right in the heart of The WB’s golden era, and stayed with us until 2003. But it wasn’t just something to watch—it became part of our growing up. Created by Kevin Williamson (yep, the one behind Scream), it introduced us to characters who felt honest and imperfect, figuring out love, friendship, and everything in between.
We met Dawson, the wide-eyed dreamer. Joey, the girl next door. And of course, Pacey and Jen, each one carrying their own weight of longing and possibility. They were played by James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams—faces we’ve since seen grow into something more, on screen and off.
What made Dawson’s Creek stick wasn’t just its drama. It was how it paused for quiet moments: two people on a dock, an awkward conversation by a locker, the way feelings built up but never fit neatly into words.
And now, more than twenty years later, it still resonates. People are still finding it—on DVDs, on streaming, in snippets online. At GalaxyCon Oklahoma City 2025, James Van Der Beek looked back on those years, reflecting not just on the show’s success but on the ways it changed him.
Maybe that's the real legacy of The Creek. Not that it captured a generation—but that it still feels like it could be yours.
Ready to revisit Capeside or introduce "The Creek" to someone new? Dawson’s Creek is readily available on DVD, digital platforms, and streaming on Hulu!

With more and more movies being made on virtual sets, director Wes Anderson still likes to do things the old-fashioned way. His new movie, The Phoenician Scheme, is no different. One of the film’s stars, Michael Cera, said when he read the script, he didn’t know how they’d be able to shoot on practical sets, and he was amazed when he saw the sets they’d be filming on.
The Phoenician Scheme is now playing in theaters.

Bono: Stories of Surrender is a filmed version of the U2 frontman’s one-man stage show, in which he tells stories about his life, his lyrics, and more. Of course, U2 is a bit of an anomaly – the band has remained intact with its original four members for nearly five decades. And, obviously, the quartet has conquered the music world several times over, reaching heights that many bands aspire to, but very few achieve. Not bad for a little group that Bono put together in high school. Though, back then, he never thought the world would ever hear of U2… because he originally had a different name in mind for the group.

For more than four decades, the first Karate Kid film has enchanted moviegoers. It starred Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, a humble boy who learns martial arts from the late, legendary, Oscar-nominated Noriyuki "Pat" Morita, who played Mr. Miyagi. 15 years ago, the franchise saw a beloved reboot, starring the legendary Jackie Chan. Now, over a decade later, we've entered a new chapter in the Karate Kid saga with the recently released film in the series, Karate Kid: Legends.
This recent film expertly reintroduces these cherished characters, with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprising their renowned roles to the pleasure of Karate Kid fans.
These titans of the Karate Kid universe clearly left Director Jonathan Entwistle in awe, and he's left us with a pretty clear picture of the legendary presence they brought to the film's production. And, of course, that wasn't all they brought.
Karate Kid: Legends is still playing in movie theaters.

Gerard Butler is a titan of the action genre, with a global fan base that cannot get enough of his films, whether they are new releases or not-so-distant memories that can now be streamed in comfort. With a resumé unequaled in action cinema, Butler can be counted on to deliver fresh thrills on an almost annual basis—if not more often—and to give the unsuspecting a new jolt of adrenaline, not always with respect to the laws of nature but always with respect to the laws of entertainment. One prime example is Plane, the 2023 action film that one can then stream with ease.
In Plane, Butler plays a pilot who must crash-land his commercial plane in a war zone during a fierce storm. It is a high-stakes job, and he performs it with his signature intensity.
Butler revealed that he embraced the character, spending a great deal of time in flight simulators to fully understand what it might be like to be a man trapped in such an extraordinary scenario. .)
Plane is now available to own on DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K, for digital purchase, and streaming on Netflix.

For over two decades, Lilo & Stitch has occupied a charming spot within pop culture, capturing audiences with its emotional heft and starry cast. Among those characters, Stitch stands out — an iconic figure seemingly custom-built to serve as Disney's Gen Z mascot. But could the tuneful, tropical tale of sisterhood and, uh, 'intergalactic domesticity' really work in a live-action setting? The latest movie has taken the world by storm, ruling the box office and showing once more how profoundly audiences relate to Stitch. Dean Fleischer Camp, who directed this latest chapter, says the reason is simple: Stitch is something real in all of us
Experience the magic all over again! Lilo & Stitch is now playing in theaters.

Tom Hanks was already an established star when he agreed to take place in a grand experiment: a new movie, completely produced on computers, that would mark the beginning of the partnership between Disney and an upstart animation company, Pixar. Of course, both the film and the partnership proved to be extremely successful: The Toy Story franchise has spawned four movies, with a fifth on the way next year, while Disney and Pixar have now made 28 movies together (the 29th, Elio, will be released this on Friday). This year marks the 15th anniversary of the release of Toy Story 3; by that time, it had already been nearly 15 years since the first. Hanks at the time of Toy Story 3’s release talked about what it meant to him to have, at the time, an entire generation of fans who had grown up with Toy Story.
The Toy Story movies are currently streaming on Disney+ and available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K, and most digital platforms.

A couple of sisters spending a weekend at a rich couple’s island estate? What could possibly go wrong? Well, there are plenty of interesting escapades awaiting the characters on Sirens, the new Netflix streaming series. And many of them sprung from the mind of the show’s creator, Molly Metzler Smith. Julianne Moore, who stars as half of the aforementioned wealthy couple, says the show wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining as it is without Metzler Smith’s writing sensibilities.
Sirens is currently streaming on Netflix.
