Ohhh I thought about it too!
In my head, Hatori is constantly comparing himself to others, and he knows very well that he's not the "cool guy." Even though, he firmly pretends not to give a shit, and that's why he acts so cocky in front of everyone (including himself).
As for his combat potential… Hatori controls electronic signals, right? Just imagine the moment he realizes that muscle movement and brain activity are controlled by those too… Hehehe.
I have a crack AU idea where Shimazaki gets food poisoning on the day of the Seasoning Tower incident, and Hatori has to replace him and fight the 7th Division.
So… instead of Shimazaki awakening his "mind’s eye" ability, it’s Hatori with his "body movement control" ability, and he’s ecstatic.
In the end, it’s Dimple who beats him up, because: (1) Dimple has no physical body. (2) He just throws a rock at Hatori’s head.
Sometimes these weird thoughts just pop into my head—like, is Hatori’s combat ability really that bad? 😅 I know that’s not even what his power is for(the purpose), but still, I can’t help wondering…
Did he ever have moments where he was secretly comparing himself to others?
Did he ever just break down and yell, “I want to have killing powers too!!”
Delicious 😋!

WIP: 70%
Other writers: "If I have to suffer, then my characters must suffer too."
Me: Wrote about a character twisting his ankle, then bruised mine on the same day. (Ouch TT^TT)
"You’re fucking ruining my life."
"I’m just telling the truth. If those people can't handle the truth, then I don’t know whose problem that is," Shimazaki said, shrugging as he turned his head away, hands stuffed in his pockets, speaking in a flat tone. "Whatever, there's no fun arguing with you. I’ll come back when you’re not pissed."
Minegishi threw a pair of scissors at Shimazaki. "Fuck off!" Before the scissors even touched Shimazaki, he had already disappeared in a flash. The scissors cut through the air before falling to the ground, making a hollow "clank" sound.

[Shimamine] Earring
Read it on AO3
Two days late, but happy birthday to Shimazaki.
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Fandom: Mob Psycho 100 Relationship: Minegishi Toshiki/Shimazaki Ryou
Additional Tags: Established Relationship, Slice of Life, Domestic Fluff
Words: 514
Summary: About Shimazaki’s fashion choices.
CW: needle, ear piercing, a very short making out moment
(Friendly reminder: For non-espers, please don't pierce your ears at home. Please go to a professional.)
Earring
“Hey Toshiki, do we have a needle?”
Minegishi looked up from the plant encyclopedia and gave his boyfriend a quick glance. Shimazaki had just come out of the bedroom, clearly having searched through the drawers himself. Shimazaki wasn't the type who sewed—if his clothes had a hole, he’d just throw them away and buy new ones. Besides, neither at the blind school nor in “Claw” would sewing have been a key subject. Minegishi told him where the needle was kept.
“Oh, I just checked that cabinet... Damn, I must’ve missed it.”
Shimazaki went back into the room. Minegishi lowered his head and continued reading.
A few minutes later, Shimazaki walked into the kitchen with a thin, shiny silver sewing needle. He opened the last drawer in the cupboard and pulled out a long lighter (which they occasionally used to sear steaks) — click. He lit the lighter, quickly passed the needle tip through the flame several times, then pinched the needle and drove it into his right earlobe. He winced slightly from the pain, showing no further reaction.
He twisted the needle out, and blood immediately seeped from the wound. Shimazaki dabbed the blood away with tissue, applied some ointment, and inserted a small metal rod, slightly thicker than the needle, into the fresh hole after sterilizing it with fire.
  Minegishi said nothing.
Some time later, Shimazaki began wearing an earring. It was a small black hoop, nothing flashy, but it suited his hairstyle and long neck perfectly.
Shimazaki cared a lot about his appearance, though it was rare for him to change his look. Minegishi was convinced that it had been Suzuki Touichirou who had taught Shimazaki how to dress. Even after “Claw” collapsed, Shimazaki maintained more or less the same style, wearing just a handful of outfits that cycled through his wardrobe. Sometimes he’d ask Minegishi to help with color coordination; fortunately, Minegishi had developed a decent sense of color working at the flower shop. Still, Minegishi was pretty sure that piercings and earrings had never really been part of Suzuki Touichirou's fashion sense.
Minegishi didn't tell Shimazaki that he thought the earring looked good on him.
One time, while they were out for a walk, they happened to pass by an earring shop, so Minegishi went in with Shimazaki to have a look around. The clerk was very friendly and, upon learning that Shimazaki was blind, immediately agreed to let him take off the earrings and touch them himself. All Minegishi had to do was quietly say, “This one’s black” or “This one’s navy,” while Shimazaki traced the contours with his fingertips, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
In the end, Shimazaki picked a garnet drop earring, smooth and full, shaped like a drop of blood or a tear. When they went to the counter to pay, it was Minegishi who quietly reached for his wallet first.
Another time, when they were making out in bed, Minegishi, without thinking, playfully took Shimazaki's right earlobe into his mouth, only for Shimazaki to let out a soft, breathy moan that caught them both off guard.

I gave yesterday’s illustration a brand new layout with a different vibe. While revisiting the story, I suddenly realized—maybe at this point in the concept, facial expressions aren’t all that important. Sometimes, a character’s expression doesn’t define the atmosphere at all. So I blurred out his face and arranged the composition like a fairy tale book cover, giving it more of a storybook feel.
I also stripped away a lot of the detailed rendering—I just felt that sometimes, letting the image return to pure, simple colors makes it even better 🥰
I even made another version where everything shares the same texture, and the character is reduced to just a silhouette. It brings out a completely different kind of artistic effect!
I even created a mock-up that looks like a real book cover preview—it actually looks like a physical book, and I think that’s just so fun!
Tumblr media
Here are several different versions of the cover—and I’d love to hear from you!
Which one’s your favorite? Drop me a comment, I’m really curious! 🥰🥰🥰
And finally, finally, finally! If you’re even remotely interested in Minegishi, you absolutely have to check out hongherbac’s “one who keeps promises” on AO3. This illustration was made with that story in mind!

OMG
This is so beautiful... I'm literally at a loss for words. I truly admire your portrayal of the scene and of my original character, the Red Peony. The pocket watch... it's like a steady anchor in the flower shop. Also, its life had always been counting down from the moment it attained self-awareness.
I wrote the fic last year, back when I had just gotten into the MP100 and Super Five fandom. At the time, I only had a vague idea of the characters, their stories, and how to express them. But a theme had already emerged—the meaning, or meaninglessness, of "life." Minegishi, in particular, seems to dismiss plants, even though they're so close to him.
I think the Red Peony gave its own answer in its final moment. It used its brief, limited life to comfort Minegishi. It was naive and reckless, but it was a choice. Note its choice of words:
"Thank you. You have given me the strength to choose how to use my life."
—rather than, "You have given me my life."
The act of choosing—and having the ability to choose—is where meaning is created.
The art is absolutely amazing... and don’t even get me started on the font! It’s such a gorgeous cover design. I’m endlessly honored and flattered AHHHHH!!
Thank you so much... and welcome to the Minegishi / Super Five / Claw appreciation club. I hope you have soooo much fun here! Bless you! ❤️❤️❤️

WIP: 60%
Suddenly, the air shifted slightly. The light dimmed a little at the same time, as if someone had stepped in front of the counter, blocking the bright sunlight streaming through the window.
Minekishi spoke in a flat tone without even looking up. “Shimazaki.”
  “Hello.”
Shimazaki lazily leaned against the counter, further blocking the reading light—Minegishi clicked his tongue in annoyance, lifting his head to glare at him, only to meet Shimazaki’s unapologetic smile. Despite the early summer heat, Shimazaki was dressed as usual in a dark jacket, hands tucked in his pockets, eyes calmly closed.
