My thoughts on Siege and Storm (this could be controversial y'all)
I really felt that there was no plot to this book except for like the last 10%, I checked it on Goodreads trust me. It was 350 pages of dragging the plot and even after reading for so long, I didn't get the climax I wanted.
Alina is a very boring narrator and she doesn't make an interesting protagonist. I just don't understand how can someone be the Sun Summoner and at the same time be so boring. I did not really see any character development. She was the same person from the first book.
Also what is up with hating Zoya?! The sole purpose of Zoya in the story is to add drama to the story and I'm not up for teenage-love-triangle-drama.
About Mal, well he already gets a lot of hate. I don't really hate him but he's not my favourite character either. I really don't care if Alina and Mal deserve each other. What I know is that I don't deserve either of them and their drama.
Nikolai is definitely the only mature character among these self indulged teenagers. His shoulders must be hurting carrying the entire weight of the plot.
Darkling, to be honest, I don't really have any new thoughts because he was hardly present in the story.
To sum it up,it's a 2 on 5 for me. I want to definitely read the next book and I really hope it doesn't disappoint me.

So I finished the second book of the Grisha triology, Siege and Storm. I can give the review in one sentence.
THIS BOOK COULD HAVE BEEN JUST 50 PAGES LONG.
Jk guys, I have a full review and I'll post that tomorrow because my lazy ass forgot to click pics.😭

Simon: I'm telling you, he's plotting. Something evil. I know it.
*Meanwhile, in a coffin at the numpties*
Baz: Pretty boy. Pretty eyes. Golden curls. Fucking moles. So stupidly beautiful. He's the only thing keeping me alive.

Just read your review of the first book of the Grisha trilogy and I agree so much, it felt quite cliché to me at times. I didn't read ahead after the first one, I don't know if it's worth it. Should I continue? Asking you because we had the same opinion on the first book
Okay so I just finished reading the first three books and I think you should read it too. I really enjoyed the third book, though the twist might be off-putting for some. Look at it this way, if you want something in your life you'll have to face the obstacles, right? Consider the second book as the obstacle. I agree it's cliché, but I guess you should read the next book just so that know what's the twist in the third book😤❤️

Here's the much awaited review of Shadow and Bone which is the first book of the Grisha triology.
To be honest, the story wasn't really bad. I liked the concept behind the entire thing. But (there's always a but) I don't really think it was well executed.
Here's a brief idea of the plot. There is this great nation Ravka, which is divided into two by the Shadow Fold, which is a stretch of sea filled with monsters called Volcra who feed on human flesh.
Alina and Mal are two orphans and childhood best friends. Alina, the protagonist gets to know that she's a Grisha, after a deadly encounter with the Volcra while crossing the Shadow Fold. She's bestowed with a magical power which can be used to make or break the world. She is taken away to be trained as a Grisha by the mysterious, dark and beautiful Darkling, who gets to decide how to use this power.
With the darkness all over and the entire kingdom dependent on her power of light, Alina has to make a bold choice which will change everyone's fate.
Sounds similar? Because it's very other YA fantasy. The characters are pretty plain and not very interesting. Alina suffers from the not-like-other-girls syndrome and Mal is super into his own head. Apart from the characters, I also felt the world was not well fleshed out. It could have been a lot more descriptive giving the readers a better picture of everything.
The story line was predictable, but I knew what I had signed up for and I didn't have a problem with that. I do want to know how things end. The plot was fast paced and the Darkling kept the story going.
Also I have a soft spot for Genya. Can she be the main character?!
Overall I think this is 3/5 for me because I have equal amount of things I like and I don't like.
I can understand why people love and treasure this book and I think I would have done it too if I were 16 *unfortunately I'm not*.
I'll update with the second book in a few days *squeaks* .

Why Aristotle and Dante is such an emotional book
so something I’ve always really loved about this book is the writing style. Short, snappy yet poetic. so much meaning and emotion was expressed with not so many words. We would have pages of short dialogue with no action in between them but still be able to picture the characters and their reactions and emotions. Pain would be mentioned but not gone into with great detail. But that didn’t make the book any less immersive. I believe this is because it leaves room for self projection. Growing up and feeling lost is something everyone experiences one way of another and the way he writes this leaves room for us to imprint our own thoughts and feeling onto the characters. So even if the pain and emotions weren’t written with great detail we still felt Ari’s pain. I just think this is a really masterful way of writing and you just have to appreciate it.
