Journalist Siraj Abudayeh ( @siraj0), who lost everything in November 2023, wanted his story to be shared.

After almost two years of genocide, through which he got displaced multiple times, he finally had the chance to return home in the North. Now, once again he faces the danger of artillery shells and bombs and has to evacuate as the area has been marked for attack.

The piece speaks volumes to the loss and desolation of such an experience, and it is something that no one can truly fathom unless they have been a victim of it themselves. Unfortunately, my little boy Ahmed still suffers from heart disease and pain due to holes in his heart. He also has eye problems as a result of being in the incubator and being exposed to artificial oxygen, which affected his eyes and caused eye problems. He needs two surgeries. Ahmed came after ten years through artificial insemination, but unfortunately the cost of the operation is very high. You are my only hope to save my child through donations and help so that we can perform the operation on Ahmed.

Today, the Palestine tag is trending on Tumblr — and among the posts is a photo of my daughter, Ronza. A fragile little girl suffering from severe malnutrition, whose story I shared, pleading for help. Her image is now reaching millions of people... but sadly, only a few have responded.

We are not okay. We are not safe. We are living in unimaginable conditions — and tomorrow is Eid al-Adha, a holiday that should bring joy, new clothes, laughter, and celebration to children. But how can my children celebrate when there is no food, no water, no medicine? How can they smile in new clothes when their weak bodies can barely stand?

We are in Gaza — trapped, starving, broken. Every day is a battle for survival.
