Round the Twist

Took a trip down to the Aireys Inlet lighthouse today, took the dog for a walk down the Surf Coast Walk which runs down these beaches to many fantastic lookouts.

Went on a day trip down to the Otways National Park, a rain forest at the southern end of Victoria, Australia. Fantastic place especially in Spring when the waterfalls are full and the greenery is vibrant. Definitely worth another visit, so much to explore!

The clouds looked amazing with the setting sun behind them as I was driving down the highway so I quickly found a spot to pull over and captured this rural landscape before the sun disappeared behind the horizon.

I checked the radar and saw a fast moving band of rain heading my way so I quickly got in the car in the hope of chasing a rainbow; I was only a few moments late in capturing a large double rainbow over the remains of the Pheonix Wool scour works but still attained a striking panorama of the storm clouds receding behind the building!

The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race was underway in Geelong, Australia today with participants from all over the world racing to win the 174 kilometer race. I managed to get a position close to the finish line and captured their final push through to end. Everything was going smoothly until Koen De Kort (TFS) came off while trying to take the turn at the Scenic Road & The Ridge in Highton but to his credit, even with all the abrasions he received in the accident, he got back up and completed the race eventually coming 60th.

As the largest wooden ship still afloat and when launched in 2000 the STS Tenacious became the largest wooden tall ship built in the United Kingdom in the last 100 years. This image was taking early morning while the ship was anchored just out from the main docks of the Geelong Waterfront.
