APPEARANCE: I’m 5’7” and pretty slim-thick. My hair is decently long — just longer than my mid back — and wavy in texture. It’s kinda caramel-colored (a fancy form of dirty blonde, essentially lmao.) He looked at your body language, how good you were at eye contact, etc. He did all that analyzing without making you notice, mostly out of respect so that he wouldn’t make you uncomfortable. Besides Jane, Helen is one of the only residents in the mansion that still have some amounts of manners within them.

• He notices how you’re occasionally raising your voice and returning back to an easygoing one. He himself seems to think that you have a quite the bold and assertive inner personality underneath your other exteriors.

• Quite reckless aren’t you? More than once he’s had to stop you from touching an artifact you weren’t supposed to. Shit, you even tried touching Jeff’s knife out of impulse! He connected the dots pretty quickly and found out how that you’re pretty reactive to your environment, touching every item you see.

• He doesn’t usually initiate affection. But does he love receiving it? He doesn’t hate it, but if it’s coming from you, he’d love ALL the cuddles!

CHOROMATSU was never the secretive type.

This was especially truthful that cherished morning: the warm, spring morning where his cheeks were stained a cherry red and his eyes could not part from your essence as the two of you walked through the local park. It was you, as impulsive as ever, who had invited him on this excursion. True motives kept buried, you claimed it was your tradition as friends that needed to be upheld: weekend strolls in the park for no real reason other than to catch up because you were, as you so called yourself, an “ever-changing guy.” Oh, yes, that you were. You were many things: a foreigner, a friend to a NEET, but most importantly, a man. Choromatsu vividly knew how he felt around women: flustered, embarrassed, shy, and transparent. He knew exactly how he would act around them. Men, however? It was all new. It was foreign. You were terribly foreign in more ways than one.

Each glance that he spared during your walk — that you spared — felt like something from a cliche romance manga. Your every guffaw and loud declaration of joy was pulled straight from anime. Not even the prettiness of the turning seasons could keep his thoughts away from the panic of being with impish, bold, chaotic you. He had to force himself to look anywhere but at you.

“Fapski,” you, after minutes of silent walking, spoke to break the speechlessness and stared at the man ambling at your side. Your swan-song voice, very brash, joined the lullaby of rustling leaves humming overhead. Horns of the city blared in the distance. Families picnicking yards away laughed within their perfect little corners of the world. Choromatsu, having once hyper-focused on all of that noise just to stay sane, let himself go deaf to it as your addictive voice joined the fray. You mattered more. The warmth of that timbre made his heart do leaps. When he finally looked back at you, your stare turned his knees to the greenest of lime jello. And to hide himself from all that tooth-rotting vulnerability, his stare escaped the hold you had on him and stapled those dark eyes to the winding pathway you traced together. His tacky slide-ons thudded rhythmically as they, unsurprisingly, fell into step with your own legs on account of his every little fascination with you. That mind of his remained as much of a mess as his red face was. Of course this would happen.

“Yes?” he squeaked. Fucking hell.

No screaming? Something was wrong.

“Woah, hold up.” you arched a brow and nudged his side as if what he said was incredibly offensive. “Just a ‘yes’ and nothing else? No screaming and punching me? No way!”

With ease, he had been caught.

Choromatsu, debilitatingly nervous, felt his spine stiffen as you shoved him and so effortlessly saw through his armor. He knew you knew he hated that nickname — thanks, worthless brothers! — and fought against you every single time that specific array of letters would leave your perfect lips. But that spring day, as if something was in the air, he found no need to screech and lecture you. In fact … the way you talked to him in your accented Japanese, cheekily so, left him with the need to kiss you then and there. He could barely find the gall to acknowledge you within that moment, though, so the kissing would have to wait. His eyes kept stitched to the park and all that lay beyond it, but his face grew all the warmer.

“Just a change of pace,” he choked on his words. “Nothing’s wrong, Y/N. N - nothing.”

Shit. He never even asked if something was wrong.

“Nothing?” you blinked. “Well, thanks for letting me know, but I never asked. Not that I mind, but … yeah. Something is definitely up, man. Fill me in.”

Choromatsu was five seconds away from fainting and shitting his pants. Was it getting hard to breathe or was he just imagining it all? Were you as handsome as you were or was his mind making portraits out of your every side-eye? Armed with nothing but the clothes on his back, a tote bag loaded with everyday essentials, and a barely-scathed iced matcha bought by yours truly, he was as naked as a newborn baby: stripped of his composure and resolve for the entire world to see. The bony hands cradling his beverage began to shake. His legs, too, fell victim to such a fate: jello sloppily carved into the shape of feet and knees.

“Hello? Earth to Choromatsu!” you, a bit impatient, continued to harass him with mindless shoves and teasing lilts meant to grab his attention. If anything, they pushed him further out within the sea that was his feelings for you. He could hear his heart about to rupture in his ears. And for one horrifically brief moment, he let his longing eyes fall back upon all the otherworldly glory and charm that was you. Seconds passed and he was enamored with your every detail: that mane of hair, those attentive eyes, but most importantly, your blinding smile. Dear God, if only his brothers could see him now. As quickly as that thought came, it lost itself to the blooming of romance. Everything stilled around him … around you. Both of you. The ocean that was those feelings — the shared feelings — was left frozen in time.

Both men stopped dead in their tracks. Still as snow.

“Your matcha,” Y/N, or you, always the ambitious and lovable go-getter, broke the silence and bested the heavy tension as you did mere minutes ago. It was not very different, either, but the little change in the cadence of your speech left Choromatsu’s lip pitifully quivery as he waited on your every last perfect word: “Did … did you see the ice cubes?”

Obeying, the green-clad mess of a man brought his attention to the plastic cup he was white-knuckling. Although it was misshapen from his grip, through the condensation and the paleness of his digits, green-stained heart shapes floated oh-so-obviously for the little man to see. They bobbed in and out of the matcha you had bought him … much like his own thumped in and out of his chest. Suddenly, that heart he owned turned into an ice cube, for when Choromatsu looked back up at the man he admired, catching your loving stare that he then knew to be a stare of love, it melted on sight.

How could he have missed it?

“Why … why didn’t you just tell me?” Choromatsu, eyes wide, voiced his worries in a lame attempt to reclaim the scraps of his dignity.

“I thought you saw the ice cubes and … well … didn’t feel the same. You never said anything, so I just figured you weren’t interested … in me.” you paused in thought, taking one or two steps closer to your [boy]friend. “But the way you’ve been staring kinda tells me different. Um, yeah. How do these things go? I like you … a lot. Like, a lot a lot.”

That day was a strange one. For whatever reason, when he woke that morning to your phone call declaring you should meet up and catch up, Choromatsu’s love and panic for you swelled beyond the size of his ego. It blinded him silly from seeing every last lick of your advances that morning. From the way you “dressed up” — if wearing a slightly fresher t-shirt can count — for the occasion and bought him iced matcha with literal hearts in it, his own worries and love and “will I ever be good enough’s” kept him from seeing the stark truth. It all came to him then and there: your careful watching, your suggestion to hang out in the first place … all of it was so that you could spill your heart and wear it on your sleeve for him: Choromatsu Matsuno himself.

“You’re an idiot, Y/N.” the NEET declared in spite of his love, yet the shy grin on his cheeks sold all of his secrets. Again, he was never the secretive one, that Choromatsu.

A goofy laugh bubbled from your throat. Then, without warning, a quick peck to his cheek spawned from nothing. Choromatsu swooned, of course, watching in happy disbelief as you pulled away from the redness that was his face and chimed out a smart-ass’s reply:

“Am I your idiot, though?”
