I kinda hate the stigma against saying that you're disabled. Like, when I tell people that I'm disabled because of my autism, they're always like "don't say that about yourself !" Like ????? No, I'm being like "this is me, I am disabled and it's who I am."

I slept in and just woke up, so here's what I've been able to figure out while sipping coffee:

Twitter has officially rebranded to X just a day or two after the move was announced.

The official branding is that a tweet is now called "an X", for which there are too many jokes to make.

The official account is still @twitter because someone else owns @X and they didn't reclaim the username first.

The logo is 𝕏 which is the Unicode character Unicode U+1D54F so the logo cannot be copyrighted and it is highly likely that it cannot be protected as a trademark.

Outside the visual logo, the trademark for the use of the name "X" in social media is held by Meta/Facebook, while the trademark for "X" in finance/commerce is owned by Microsoft.

The rebranding has been stopped in Japan as the term "X Japan" is trademarked by the band X JAPAN.

Elon had workers taking down the "Twitter" name from the side of the building. He did not have any permits to do this. The building owner called the cops who stopped the crew midway through so the sign just says "er".

He still plans to call his streaming and media hosting branch of the company as "Xvideo". Nobody tell him.

This man wants you to give him control over all of your financial information.

Yes, this is all real. Check the notes and people have pictures. I understand the skepticism because it feels like a joke, but to the best of my knowledge, everything in the above is accurate.

Microsoft also owns the trademark on X for chatting and gaming because, y'know, X-box.

The logo came from a random podcaster who tweeted it at Musk.

The act of sending a tweet is now known as "Xeet". They even added a guide for how to Xeet.

The branding change is inconsistent. Some icons have changed, some have not, and the words "tweet" and "Twitter" are still all over the place on the site.

TweetDeck is currently unaffected and I hope it's because they forgot that it exists again. The complete negligence toward that tool and just leaving it the hell alone is the only thing that makes the site usable (and some of us are stuck on there for work).

This is likely because Musk was forced out of PayPal due to a failed credit line project and because he wanted to rename the site to "X-Paypal" and eventually just to "X".

This became a big deal behind the scenes as Musk paid over $1 million for the domain X.com and wanted to rebrand the company that already had the brand awareness people were using it as a verb to "pay online" (as in "I'll paypal you the money")

X.com is not currently owned by Musk. It is held by a domain registrar (I believe GoDaddy but I'm not entirely sure). Meaning as long as he's hung onto this idea of making X Corp a thing, he couldn't be arsed to pay the $15/year domain renewal.

Bloomberg estimates the rebranding wiped between $4 to $20 billion from the valuation of Twitter due to the loss of brand awareness.

The company was already worth less than half of the $44 billion Musk paid for it in the first place, meaning this may end up a worse deal than when Yahoo bought Tumblr.

One estimation (though this is with a grain of salt) said that Twitter is three months from defaulting on its loans taken out to buy the site. Those loans were secured with Tesla stock. Meaning the bank will seize that stock and, since it won't be enough to pay the debt (since it's worth around 50-75% of what it was at the time of the loan), they can start seizing personal assets of Elon Musk including the Twitter company itself and his interest in SpaceX.

Sesame Street's official accounts mocked the rebranding.

a drawing game where one person draws a character and then a second person has to draw the same character but genderswapped. then a third person, without seeing the first drawing, tries to draw the second drawing’s character genderswapped, thus making it the character’s original gender. and then keep doing that. and see how close the first drawing and the last drawing of the character turn out.

this can also be done with other swaps, like switching between art styles(cartoony/stylized & realism-ish) or different -sonas/AUs(spidersona, cyberpunk, superhero, etc.). you can also do a bunch of different swaps in one challenge, for example: original character -> spidersona -> genderbent spidersona -> genderbent non-spidersona -> original character

the idea that your friends won't like you if you're too weird is wrong for example one time I told a friend whenever I was losing my mind I laid down on the floor under my desk and stared at it until I was better and next time she visited me she taped a bag of salami snacks to the underside of my desk with a message saying "going insane all by yourself, handsome?" which I only saw months later when I had a breakdown. that's friendship.

I realised just how much I mask in regards to autism, cause i always thought of myself as "lightly autistic" or "high functioning" even though i know it is bad to use those sorts of labels. It was only until I realised just how much of my social abilities are founded on how i use echolalia. I repeat almost everything people say but I've taught myself how neurotypicals communicate, so I'm able to replicate regular social interactions even while mimicking others.

I've even realised there are some times where i go completely non-verbal except for the use of echolalia and specific scripts. Like- im like Bumblebee from Transformers. I stitch bits and pieces of my echolalia together to communicate when i just cant speak from my mind. Its weird and its the only way i can describe it.

Another thing that made me realise that I am probably, very, very heavily autistic was how confused I get by neurotypicals. Me and anogher AuDHD friend were talking about how neurotypicals differ from autistics in terms of logicalising our emotions and I realised just how different from neurotypicals I am.

And working at my new job (as a waiter), I've realised how much I rely on my scripts. If a conversation with a stranger or a customer follows the way i have practiced in my head, then I'm a social extraordinaire, the king of conversation. If they ask me a question I wasn't expecting, its like I can't understand english anymore, I start stuttering, i unconciously twiddle my fingers, I rip the skin off my lips with my teeth. Its so weird how jarring the change is, at least from the inside.

It feels good to know I'm not just- like- "neurotypical with sensory issues" like ive been interpreting it for at least a year. but it feels tiring to know I have my work cut out for me when it comes to unmasking.

FYI: I am an undiagnosed autistic with ADHD. I have done diagnostic tests and consulted a doctor who told me "yeah, you're autistic", I am just not in the financial situation to be formally diagnosed.

Well, Valentine's day is coming up soon and recently had to block someone I followed after reblogging aphobic shit so I guess I'll get back to annoying people and talking about being aro

Being Aromantic absolutely does fucking impact our lives beyond awkward conversations about dating!

Breif list of just a few of the impacts:

-finances, this goes for all single people yes but rent prices are rising and we're all still paid fucking Peanuts for our labor

-kids, If you are unmarried you are significantly less likely to be adopted to

-Bodily autonomy, many doctors won't let people with uterus decide what happens with that uterus without their husband's consent

-Social pressure which is as real for us as any other group of queer people. People don't support you when you dont date, they often either say it's a phase or they start acting like something is wrong with you

-dehumanization and/or being actually diagnosed as being mentally ill, sometimes being medicated, sometimes experiencing corrective rape especially if you're asexual as well

Are any of these problems exclusive to aro people? No, but that is all the more reason that it is in All of Our best interests to deconstruct the ideas that place pressures on people to partner romantically and monogamously

It's not about us "still being able to love, don't worry!!" If you can't show compassion even when it's in your own best interest then you can Fuck Right Off
