*modern au* Caradoc: Gwen, there's something I should warn you about. Gwendoline: What is it? Caradoc: When Jester was looking after Lavinia, she somehow got ahold of a book he owns, some teen fantasy novel about a kingdom at war and things like that. He found her reading it. He's not sure how much of it she actually grasped, since she couldn't understand most of the big words, but she seemed to have gotten a decent idea of the plot and was pretty invested in the violent parts. And now- Gwen: Is that where her new fixation on books way above her reading level is coming from?! Caradoc: Yes! Oh my gosh, she's *already* asking for more? Gwendoline: Yes! She's obsessed now! I spent the afternoon desperately trying to give her a kid-friendly summary of some book about teen assassins. I don't even know what's so appealing to her about these, it's not like she likes the romance! Caradoc: It's the violence and gore, isn't it? That's-that's just all she wants. Now that she's had a taste of *real* fictional violence instead of the watered-down stuff...oh dear.

Character A: “The real tragedy was the friends we made along the way.”
Character B: “Don’t you mean ‘treasure’?”
Character A: “No. Having to care about other people has been a real bummer for me and my personal goals.”

This is from my other blog but I think it's good advice. Maybe. Hopefully.
Every writing advice ever: If you’re having trouble with a scene, skip it and write a different part of the story.
Me: If I don’t write in chronological order, I will die

@incorrectjane-andthedragon had the brilliant idea that their plague doctor masks would look like dragons. I was feeling inspired so I looked up what plague doctor masks look like in real life and the gremlins took it from there 😆
A JATD sequel/reboot aimed at older audiences would have so many more opportunities for darker/more morbid humor, like Dragon joking that he doesn't have parents or that he might be the last of his kind, along with other jokes about death. It would be interesting to see where the show would go with that.

Absolutely! And how nobody talks about it remembers the boy. Are the king and queen regent dead? How did they die? Do they not have any relatives that would occasionally visit the castle? Idk how Ivan came to be at the castle but I know it's not a bloodless story.
Oo! New headcannon! There was already a plague! That's why the kingdom is having financial troubles and Jane is the only on screen character with on screen parents.
It could also lend itself to a reason why dragons were hunted. Maybe people thought they were carriers? Maybe with the absence of anything to do to protect themselves from the plague, they blamed dragons baselessly. Dragons were harbingers. They were harolds of death. They were the root of an evil that had to be killed (oh please let this kill it) for the sake of the kingdom.
Jane only has vague recollections of figures in plague masks.
