Sexuality &History.

Sexuality has dominated human history, It has caused wars, regime changes, Feuds, jealousy inspired art, poetry, books, It may be the single biggest dominating theme from any age. We will take a look at examples…

Adam & Eve

The "Apple" (Sex) The Serpent (Temptation) The "Tree" Of Life (Procreation) The aftermath, loss of innocence… The "punishment" Child Labor Hard work to "provide" for the "issue" of their "lesion" all adds up to histories fundamental lesson from biblical history… There are numerous examples from pre- Christianity of sexuality & its repercussions, all of which (For the good & bad) add up to one basic fact… Development of humanity… From then till now…& we only have to look at modern media stories, to see that there is, & seemingly always will be, a fascination with the ethos & at times its implications

David & Bathsheba

A well known story by most people, King David, blinded by lust, sees the beautiful wife of Uriah the Hittite bathing from his palace balcony & is determined

to possess her at all cost, inc sending Uriah to the front of his armies, so he will be killed… Murder by proxy really, David forgot from whom his power actually came… He made the mistake of Nebuchadnezzar in believing in his own omnipotence… By taking Bathsheba to him, in this manner… He brought ruin on his country, army & people, by incurring the wrath of God…

Ultimately he did repent, But by then it was too late, The damage had been done…

Lucretia Borgia

Some historians are divided on Lucretia Borgia, arguing that she was used as a political "pawn" by her father Pope Alexander the third (Rodrigo Borgia) Either way she was an arch intriguer who conspired with her father, & Brother Cesare to increase the Borgia power, both political & financial by her marriages. Allegations that she "poisoned" some of her husbands, when they became politically expedient…have travelled down through the centuries, yet there is no real evidence of this…just speculation

She is described as having strikingly long blonde hair & Oval intelligent eyes that attracted attention… No doubt that she used her "attributes" to further general political & general ambition

Suleiman the Magnificent & Roxanne

Suleiman had many wives, each took it in turn came to him… But one day in his harem he met a young Circassian girl called Roxelana.& from that day, he never looked at another woman… Roxelana became his wife, friend, confident… This mighty Warlord & Lawgiver used to send her love poetry from the battlefield… Her ancestry was probably Ruthenian… After marriage

to Suleiman she became "Hurrem

Sultan" meaning laughing & joyful one, bearing the Sultan his firstborn son… A bright & intelligent boy called Mehmet

Henry VIII of England

History recorded this as the Kings "Grave Matter" (The line of succession) But Henry became besotted by Anne Boleyn sexually & was determined to make her his Queen, So divorcing his wife Queen Catherine Of Aragon became an obsession leading to the English Reformation & all that followed inc wars faith & much bloodshed… Sexuality played the biggest part of these eventual events… Human frailty again…

Catherine The Great

Born a minor German noblewoman, Sophie of Anhalt-Beresk her family & genetic connections made her prominent as a suitable bride for Tzar Peter 3rd whom she married. The ascended to the Romanov throne after the overthrow of her husband, Which she was complicit in. Catherine later took many lovers, for political purposes, The most notable being Gregory Potemkin although the sterile Leo Voronsky was also one of her lovers early on & helped with the coup, overthrow & subsequent murder of Tzar Paul.

Catherine proved herself an able diplomat & intriguer of the highest order, using powerful lovers like Potemkin to help her expand the Russian Empire & waging war, mainly with Turkey. One of histories great examples of using sexuality as a weapon of state She faced down & crushed more than one dozen rebellions during her reign, inc one from the serfs, who lived in wretched conditions & were little more than slaves for the autocratic nobility on their estates.

The true Romanov bloodline may well have ended at this time, as Catherine's children were fathered by some of her lovers…

Edward & Mrs Simpson

No one's idea of a great beauty, Wallis Simpson had an allure that besotted The British Prince of Wales (Later Uncrowned Edward The Seventh)

causing both a constitutional & royal crisis in mid nineteen thirties England. Wallis Simpson was twice divorced & in the climate of the times totally unsuitable to even be Consort or Morganatic partner for a future king of England. Edward for his part was hopelessly smitten by his "Femme Fatal" & nursing a huge stubborn streak, Point blank refused to be parted from her…many of their "assignations" happened at his Fort Belvedere

home where Mrs Simpson even played hostess during their courting, safe among close friends who could be trusted to be discreet… On hearing of the affair the formidable Queen Mary remarked…"" Well…THIS…is a pretty kettle of fish!" As indeed it was. Newspapers mainly kept quiet about the news, but as things developed…" Hinted" that things were badly amiss in Edwards circles.

Eventually the news broke… Edward abdicated for "The woman he loved" His brother Bertie who was totally untrained to Kingship…ascended the throne as George The Sixth…

For Edward & his partner (Whom.he married the next June)

once the novelty wore off with the French Rivera jet set… It all became rather third rate & seedy… The friends were less rich, less influential, even talented, So they lived out their lives as "yesterday's news" for the most part… During the height of World War Two when Britain was in her greatest peril…he harassed Winston Churchill about "petty" points of minor protocol Winston(Who exercised the patience of Job, with Edward) sent him to be Governor of the Bahamas, Edward was all edged to have Nazi sympathies indeed actually met Hitler as Duke of Windsor. The evil Führer viewed him as a puppet head of state should Britain be invaded… After the war… Documents were quickly retrieved by British intelligence services purporting to be correspondence between Edward & Hitler… But these letters never became public & probably never will!

Edward & Wallis lived in France mainly & The Duchess in her latter years near Paris… Edward "Duke" Of Wins or died in 1972, followed by Wallis in 1986 both are buried at Frogmore, the traditional resting place of modern British royalty

Love & lust again shaped history, But it must be said George The Sixth & Queen Elizabeth brought a stability to the British Monarchy that continued with their daughter Queen Elizabeth the Second… The longest reigning British Monarch ever…
