Fun little tidbit about this: the background is based on the shot from episode 1 where King comes out in the towel with the rubber ducky and in that shot, the picture frames are all lopsided. I started to draw the background that way and then I thought “hold on! Raine lives in the Owl House now; they’ve definitely gone around a straightened all of the picture frames” 😂.

Shout out to my friend Ully who joined me for coffee this past Friday while I was working on this and gave me the ideas to put a face on the guiscar and to add Eda in the background, helped me figure how to situate King (thanks to having much more toddler experience than me), AND posed in the doorway of the coffee shop to give me a reference for Eda. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since the finale! I will never not cry at this beautiful full circle moment (I’m not crying, you are!). If it isn’t obvious by the existence of this blog 😂, I really love this show.

It’s hard to believe now, but it was my spouse’s idea to watch it! He saw some clips of Amity panic online and thought it looked super cute and we binged Season 1 on Disney+. Nerdy bi Latina protagonist and there’s witches?? I was pretty easily sold 😅. But then on top of that it was just so good??? We don’t have cable, so for Season 2, we were always waiting to catch the episode bundles that would drop on Disney+ and I was avoiding the fandom like the plague so I didn’t get spoilers— when the 3rd season episodes were dropped on YouTube on the days they aired, I was thrilled!! Naturally, I sobbed through this entire episode 😂.

A few months ago, I was trying to clear out my camera roll and I found this screenshot that I saved to text my spouse on July 15th, 2021. I could not possibly delete it because this was me anticipating the first set of Season 2 episodes to drop on Disney+. It’s wild to think back on how excited I was even then.

This show has brought me so much joy AND pushed me into finally pursuing this hobby of making fanart (I’m talking taking art classes so I could get better at drawing Raeda 😅), so I can say it will have a lasting effect on me. I couldn’t possibly summarize everything it means to me, but I know it means a whole lot to so many of you, too, so I don’t have to. I know you’ve heard it a million times, but thank you @danaterrace!!

Hi, hello, I am back with more Dancer Raine!! New art of Raine with their bag waiting to get inside the dance studio and a redraw of some old dancing Raine poses, based on my contemporary dance classes. I think about Raine as a dancer a lot 😂.

(If you haven’t seen the old post… Listen, I really like the idea that bards cross-train in dance. HEAR ME OUT: 1. Magic on the Boiling Isles is very athletic and we have seen Raine be very nimble when performing magic/fighting 2. What better way to embody music than through feeling musicality in your body??? 3. I just think Raine as a dancer is neat 😄. Dance poses based on my contemporary dance class; I think Raine likes contemporary and modern dance!)

I recently watched the original YouTube series for the first time and rewatched the Netflix show ☺️. I think I might draw Toast next because she is hilarious 😂. I just love how simultaneously whimsical, mysterious, and mundane this show is.

Eda and King mean so much to me 😭. I’m kind of obsessed with Eda accidentally becoming a parent and then continually denying that she is a parent but also… the fact that King has so many books and stuffed animals, y’all!! I love imagining her stocking up on plushies and books for him. And, naturally, knowing (thinking) that she is raising a demon, she wants to make sure he can learn plenty about his people 😭😭😭.

I just found out today is Hiccup’s birthday!!! (In the books, of which I have only read #1 😂.) These are my absolute favorite animated films (I am also a huge Hiccstrid shipper 😅). Anyways, I haven’t gotten around to a pretty finished piece relating to HTTYD, so instead, have this old screen sketch I did of HTTYD2 😄.

At the Owl House Q&A at Requiem Coffee earlier this month, Avi Roque said Eda and Raine asked each other to Grom 😍. They also said Raine likes to do collage in their free time!!! So, naturally, here are Eda and Raine asking each other to Grom with their preferred art forms (Raine applying their budding collage passion 😂). (I am not sleeping on the comment that Raine hosts collage nights— I am in love with this and am coming back to it, but my plan is ambitious… we’ll see how that goes!)

On the bonus: The idea of putting Raine in a cape for Grom is from @thinking-with-quadrants; I could not resist borrowing it because it is too cute! They have delicate sleeves because Raine should get to wear something pretty now and then. If Eda’s jacket looks familiar… hear me out: what if Luz’s Grom jacket was borrowed from Eda??
