A place where "freaks" and "ourcasts" can go to express themselves. This is a place where those who love mythology can come, make up new versions of myths common and unheard of and feel as though they belong even when they don't feel that way at school or home. This is where everyone belongs.

I’m Back!!! (again)
I don’t even know if anything still looks at Tumblr, but if they do, I’m going to be posting again, for the few people who do read what I post, I’m back and have decided to put Elder Youth on the back burner. I know I’ve been working on it for about 9 or 10 years at this point, so it’s time. For the last year or so (May 6, 2018 to be precise) I’ve been working on a high fantasy new adult novel, called Misconceptions, which I hope everyone will love!

Question(s)!!!!
I”m re-re-re-re (add a hundred or so re’s here) writing my novel Elder Youth: a guardians of Isedale novel, trying to make it good so I can self publish it and let people start buying it but when doing that, my reader friends brought up a few issues with the changes and I need other people’s opinions!! Some of these may end up being a little long winded, so please just bare with me.
1: What are your thoughts on switching perspective every now and then not for long chapters but for a page and a half long chapters at the very most?
This next question needs an explanation so bare with me...
2: I”m trying to make it obvious to anyone reading this book that the first world seen is completely different from the one the main character is taken to. The version before this one started out with the main character meeting the love interest right before she’s told to marry him by the Council which rules over her town, has to break up with her boyfriend, and then goes on a first date with him (on the first date, the love interest tells her, “Ever since I came back, the women have been acting like idiots, thinking they have the right to do whatever they want.” The society I made wouldn’t allow the women to act like that, so I changed it to make it feel colder. The main character texts her boyfriend when she gets the summons and he breaks up with her over text. She has to push her feelings down as she goes to the meeting to find out who she’s going to marry or if she’s just going to be turned into a breeder. She meets the love interest before being told she has to marry him and then has her friends come over to help her feel better about everything that’s happened in less than a day before she goes on a date with the love interest at all. My question is, should I make the world colder or leave it alone? (I’d like opinions on which one sounds better at the moment).
3: My friends are trying to tell me to describe the characters more in the second version because it isn’t as detailed as the first one. I’ve always been taught to only give the details that affect the plot in some way, otherwise let the reader fill the rest in on their own. Do you guys think I should add more detail or let the reader fill in the rest?
4: I actually feel really proud of this new version I did, which is why I don’t understand how my friends can hate it so much. Should I stick to my guts as a writer or should I listen to them and change it back to the version I feel is absolutely horrible?
5: If anyone would like to beta read for me and give me feedback, my books a young adult paranormal dystopian with a dash of romance and pinch of mystery. It’s kind of an Arthurian legend meets Avatar the last airbender with some vampires and war added to the mix. If anyone would like to beta read for me that would be awesome (and for the fellow writers who are also readers who’d like to beta read for me, I’d also be willing to beta read for you too!!)

Writing update
I’ve come to realize that no matter how much I re-outline my book, there’s always going to be more ideas that I never thought of when I first started writing my book, but are now here and want to be heard as much as the original ideas wanted to be heard as well. So now I’m adding smaller chapters in Elder Youth, in Axel’s (the main love interest) perspective which is making the story seem so much better and yet I never thought to do this until now.
So now I have a question for anyone who reads this - what are your thoughts on books that switch perspectives throughout the book?

A LIVESHOW?! Announcement
HELLOO and welcome. YOU READ CORRECTLY.
I want to do a liveshow. Like I’ve been wanting to do a liveshow for probably a year.
AND NOW I WILL, I think. Because the thing is, I’m scared like no one will watch 😂 (which is not funny, it’s actually quite sad). But that’s also the reason why I’m announcing it already.
BECAUSE, the liveshow will probably take place on Wednesday April 19th, at 8PM Central European time. Which is 2PM Eastern Standard Time and 11AM Pacific Time.
What you can expect during the liveshow:
-ANSWERING QUESTIONS!
-RAMBLING ABOUT WRITING!
-MAYBE EVEN SOME WORDSPRINTS?
-A TON OF FUN AND COFFEE!
So please please please, I would love for as many people as possible to be there (especially my fellow Camp NaNoWriMo folks (just kidding, EVERYONE IS WELCOME!)). So if you see this post, please reblog it!
And now, I will be tagging ALL of my followers. For one to thank you all so so much for following and supporting me, it really means a lot! And second, because I want everyone to see this!

YouTube channel
So, I’m thinking about starting a YouTube channel to help with marketing my book (especially as I get closer to finishing my book) and I know I want to do have writing related videos, including tags and maybe even reviews of books I’ve read. But I’d like any ideas on other types of video’s I could do, so any suggestions are welcome.

Createspace experience
My createspace experience was a lot better than I thought it would be. First ff, I thought I was going to have to buy an ISBN number, because when I did some research into it, I was told it would be $10, but found out while working on my book that createspace can give you an ISBN number for free or you can use one that you paid for yourself.
The hardest part of this entire experience was getting the interior to format correctly because for some reason chapter 9 wouldn’t go to it’s own page which took about two days to get figured out. I don’t know why it took so long, but it did. And then there were problems with the margins and page size because I didn’t realize that I needed to change the page size in word as well as the margins. But what’s cool about createspace is that if there’s something wrong with the file that’s going to cause problems printing, it shows you the ways to change that. Once that was all figured out, I just had to do the cover, title and all that, which only took about 10 minutes.
After that, createspace reviews the book to make sure it’ll print correctly, then 24 hours later, you can buy your book. Which for the author, it’s only $5 per copy plus shipping and handling. When I heard that from Shaelin Bishop from the YouTube channel ShaelinWrites (if you don’t watch her already, you definitely should because she’s hilarious) that the copies were only $5 each, I thought that can’t be right. I thought it was going to be really expensive and then I get to that point and nope. She was telling the truth.
The books got here 2 days before I thought they would which made me very happy. Other authors who filmed their experience had some problems with the binding and damage around the corners but I didn’t have any of that. They were perfect and I couldn’t ask for a better experience.
If anybody needs help figuring out how to format the word document for createspace, feel free to message me on here because I’m happy to help anyone out.

Tumblr media
So this is the first time I've ever done anything with photoshop and this a rough idea of what the cover will look like for my book Elder Youth. I think it looks really good (especially for the first time using photoshop) but I would really like any and all honest feedback. Thank you!

Update for Empath’s Light
So for those who have read the two chapters of Empath’s Light that I posted on here a few days ago, there will be more, but not on Tumblr. I’m posting the rest of the book on Wattpad.com so if you want to read more, it’ll be available over there. The first two chapters are on there at the moment but the rest will be posted about two times a week.

Empath’s Light
This is the next chapter in my new WIP. It’s kind of short, but it packs a punch. So I hope you enjoy!!
Two
That was the only part of my day that wasn’t normal at least until my final class. The only one I have with Terry and know I’ll be safe because Terry doesn’t let any of his teammates bully me when he’s in the room. As I walk into the classroom, I try to head to my usual spot in the front corner closest to our teacher, Mrs. Pitcher, an older woman who hates most teenagers but loves anyone who can understand a poem or poet more advanced than Robert Frost. Terry motions me over to him, to the open chair behind him.
“So Cat, do you want to eat at The Tavern on Saturday?” Terry asks when I get over to the seat behind him.
“Sure.”
“Great.”
Terry and I walk away from the class when the bell rings, where we head off to the locker rooms to get ready for practice.
Behind us, I hear Tyler and Michelle talking. Tyler hates everything to do with sports and anything that involves Terry but that doesn’t explain why they're following us or why Michelle sounds like she’s getting ready to murder someone. There must be a cheerleader behind them.
As we walk down the hallway leading to the pool, everything around us seems to slow down. The air gets heavy, so much so that none of us seem to be able to move anymore. I feel my racing heart, slow to the point where I’m not sure if it’s even beating anymore.
My vision blurs and fades away. This should be terrifying, considering how my life just began or if I should be sad because my life hasn’t begun yet. I haven’t done anything yet. Terry and I haven’t gone on our date yet. I’ll never know if we’d survive as a couple. The realization that I want to live because I haven’t gone on a date with the guy I’ve been pining over for years hits me as my vision blurs back into existence.
My vision doesn’t just come back, though. It comes back with blue hues around the edges which is strange to say the least.
Twisting to the side, I see that Terry’s still standing next to me. I also see that his once blue eyes are now purple which is odd to say the least but not as odd as the crown sitting on his head that looks as though it’s from a different time altogether.

Empath’s Light
So I have another WIP going right now, it’s a fantasy coming of age story. The other world in it is a world I created when I was about twelve with the first full-size book I wrote. Only one person ever ready it (he did like it even though it was horrible and most of the book was written for revenge purposes and was a mess of random ideas thrown into one) so I’m redoing it. That and I’m combining an idea I’ve had for a while that I’ve wanted to do with this one and I’m excited for it so I’m going to share the first chapter and if anyone has any comments or want to see more of it, let me know!
One
A football flies by my head, forcing me to dive to the bleacher beside me so I won’t get hit. I hear the annoying sounds of the cheerleaders laughing a few steps away from me, making me blush. I’ve never understood why I always come out here when I need to study but I do and being around testosterone and sweat seems to help me focus.
Grabbing my notebook and textbook, I move higher in the stands so the jocks will have a harder time aiming at me.
Before I get too far up in the stands, I watch Terry jog over to me. Terry’s the star of pretty much every sport thought of at our school and is the crush of pretty much every girl in school (and some guys) have crushes on him and of course, that list of people includes me. Terry has silver-blue eyes, chocolate brown hair, the face that could’ve been taken from the statues of the gods, the perfect build for every sport possible.
“Hey Cat, sorry about that. Danny was being a jerk,” he tells me in his deep voice that makes me feel better every time I hear it.
“Don’t worry about it Terry, I’m fine.”
“That’s good. Do you still need a ride after practice tonight?”
“Yeah, why do you ask?”
“I just wanted to know because this way I don’t have to give the cheerleaders a ride home.”
“So you have ulterior motives? I’m oddly okay with that.”
“That’s good because the free ride comes with the ulterior motives.”
“I wouldn’t expect it any other way.”
Laughing, one of his faceless teammates comes over to get him so he’ll come back to practice. Wishing he’d run to me instead, I move up higher in the stands and get back to studying for five minutes before I’m interrupted again when another person comes up to me.
Tyler.
Tyler’s the newest in my group of friends, only being here before about three or four years now and have become very close in that short amount of time. He has brown hair, and boring blue puppy dog eyes always begging for something.
“How can you be so nice to him when he’s always being an asshole to me?”
“He gives me free rides after practice, apologizes for his friends being dicks, and hates cheerleaders as much as we do. After all of that, I can easily find it within myself to forgive him for the fact that he’s a teenager and needs to think that he’s a teenager and needs to think that popularity matters in the real world.”
“Who hates cheerleaders as much as we do?” Michelle asks from beside me. Laughing, she takes her seat. She’s wearing her signature biker jacket that she inherited from her mom and has put her crazy hair in a bun.
“Terry,” I tell her, which makes her roll her eyes. I don’t know if it’s because she knows about my feelings for him or because she didn’t expect that to be the name I said.
“Pretty boy jock of all sports hates cheerleaders as much as we do?”
“Yes, he’s a real hero. Why does hating cheerleaders make someone automatically attractive to you?” Tyler asks.
“It doesn’t. It just makes me open to the idea of them being attractive in my eyes.” Michelle says.
Tyler rolls his eyes and says, “Whatever.”
Sighing, I glance at my phone to see how long I have before class starts and decide that I may as well start heading over there.
Putting my notebook back into my bag, I walk away, intending to go to class but before I can, the crazy head cheerleader Lisa stops me in my tracks. Lisa has blonde hair, dull green eyes, and the perfect hourglass figure that almost every girl in school wishes they could have. She’s wearing a blue blouse and a denim skirt that’s almost too short for school regulations.
“Hey, nerd.”
“Hello, Lisa.”
“Stay away from Terry. He’s mine.”
I laugh. “We’re friends. There isn’t anything you can do about that.” Especially because you’re not even dating him. I know this because he’s single and I’ve been wishing I could work up the courage to ask him out someday.
“Just stay away from him. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll do as I say.” And she walks away.
Shaking my head at the stupidity and immaturity of that conversation, I try again to walk to class, hoping that if I get there before everyone else, I’ll be safe to study in peace for a few minutes.
“Hey Cat, you heading to class?” Terry asks as he runs off the field. The other jocks are walking into the locker rooms, while a few others are just glaring over here where Terry and I are standing.
“Yeah.”
“Okay, I need to ask you a question.
“You already asked me one but you can ask me another one.”
“Thanks. What are you doing this Saturday?”
“Studying.”
“Do you want to get something to eat?”
“As friends or…?” My voice trails off, not wanting to get my hopes up that he means something more if he only means something innocent.
“No, as a date.”
“Sure.”
“Great. I’ll pick you up on Saturday at six-ish to eat.”
“Sounds great.”
Terry walks to the locker rooms to change out of his tank top and shorts, making my heart leap out of my chest as I turn and walk to class. Where it isn’t until after my first class when I’m getting pushed into the walls and lockers that my smile finally fades away.

Lisa’s Story
I made this story a few years ago when I took my first creative writing class. The prompt we were given was to make up a story from a painting. I staid up, trying to figure out a painting to use for inspiration when I looked at the Mona Lisa and felt inspired from it. I wasn’t able to use this story because it was about 500 words over the limit we were gven so I had to come up with a new story.
I thought I shoud share this as a way of knd of saying sorry for the silence and nothingness from me for the past month or so. I’m going to do everything in my power to be more consistant from now on.
A long time ago, I knew a girl who aged a hundred years in the span of five days. She was beautiful, and misunderstood by anyone who sees her now. Everyone thought she was rich, but in reality, there couldn’t be anything further from the truth.
It's been so long since I saw her last and my life has felt somewhat empty since she's been gone. All I want to do is sleep, but I have to tell her story first. Everyone needs to know the story of the girl who shined brighter than the sun, had a smile wider than the horizon but lived in complete darkness.
Some say she was his girlfriend. Others say his sister. However; no one knew who she was. They all have guesses and assumptions, yet no one asked who she was because the truth is covered in more blood, then anyone would've guessed.
Her name was just Lisa. She was a girl like any other – but you wouldn't know that by looking at her. She had a past just like the rest of us, but hers was more of a tragedy.
She lived in a battlefield. Maybe it was during a war, maybe it was a theoretical battlefield. Her reasons were simple – she fought to live. She fought to continue to have that small smile on her face. She fought to keep the little things she had left alive.
One of the little things keeping her alive was the park outside of the house she lived in when her family was alive. It was small and dingy. There was a worn out walking trail that took up most of the little park. Thousands of people have walked over it throughout the years. Along the sides of the trail, the grass has barely been touched. When you walk down the trail about 7-8 yards, you'll find yourself at the pond.
Such a wonderful pond it was! With the reflection of the majestic trees giving it a murky sheen, the entire trail begins to feel as if all the darkness in the world is centered on that one spot. Was it accidental, or was it on purpose, when the trees were planted right next to the pond that sees no light.
           That sees no life.
On the other side of the trail, there lies a small mountain.
It was there, in the house of so many untold horrors, that one of the most well-known paintings was created.
Some think she was a rich woman, when in reality, she was quite poor. She's wearing her only nice clothes in this painting, and she's only ever worn it once before to a funeral. It was probably the funeral for her family members. No one knows why they did it, but some burglars came and shot her entire family, leaving her an orphan in a dangerous city. The clothes belonged to her mother.
One of the men in the city came to live with her with his family. Three boys and two, now three, daughters. She went to live with them when she was only 13. I am the youngest of the three daughters.
I was eight when she came to live with us.
It was the end of her childhood, of the time when she could believe that good would always win against evil no matter how strong the evil was in the end.
Her family died five days before her 13th birthday.
The funeral was lovely. People came from all around, saying nice things that made Lisa happier than she would ever be again. Everyone thought the little girl was just in shock and when the reality sunk in, it would be difficult for her to bear on her own.
It began three days after the funeral.
She thought everything was alright and that her family was just away for the moment and would come back soon.
           She was wrong.
The man beat her first. It was because of her 'foolish' ideas that death isn't the end. She'll see her family again. She'd known they were dead, but she also had hope.
She blacked out for three hours.
The man's second wife, an ugly woman with three teeth missing and a horrible stench following her like the plague, was next. Lisa was too slow to respond when she needed to answer her, and therefore 'had to be punished'.
None of the brothers ever laid a hand on her. But the elder of the two sisters did. She felt that as the eldest of the three girls, she had a duty to women everywhere to teach Lisa a lesson she wouldn't forget.
The sister, just as ugly as her mother, tried to teach her that when someone dies, they're never seen again. She told her that to think someone will come back after death, is a sin against God.
Lisa never believed her or listened to what she said, so the beatings got worse. Lisa believed what her grandmother had always told her, "Have faith that you will see us again when we die, because that's all that's going to keep you going in life."
Everyone thinks her grandmother had the sight and therefore, must have seen the night before hand, and was preparing Lisa for the grief she would feel otherwise.
The beatings continued for 12 long years. She couldn't do anything to stop them until she was married to a man who treated her very well in front of everyone else. No one knew the truth.
The man she married beat her every chance he got and never let her do anything she wanted to. But there wasn’t anything he could do to stop her. She found ways to have a good life, even though she was always being beaten at home. Who knows why this happened? Maybe the man who replaced her real father chose this man for her husband out of spite.
Maybe it was so she wouldn't be able to get away from being beaten no matter how much she tried.
20 years later, a kind gentleman went up to her and asked if he could use her in a painting. He'd seen her multiple times around the park and knew that she had a hard life. He was one of the only ones she ever spoke to.
No one knew who he was back then, but we all know what happened next.
One of the kindest men in the world came to the house after her husband had left for business. Something about being gone for a few days then coming back. When the man entered the house carrying his wood contraption and briefcase, there seemed to be a moment where the entire house lit up. Not to the point of being better, but being lighter somehow. The air didn't feel so heavy all the time.
He painted her, sitting in a chair out on the balcony overlooking the park. I was there with them. Standing off to his right as he painted.
I don't know what I was doing that made it to where she wanted to smile, but every time she'd look at me, she'd smile.
Just before he was finished painting she asked him a question. "If I let you finish that portrait, will you help my sister find a good husband?"
The man, being a good man, looked up from the painting and gazed at me knowingly. For me, I'd always thought that I'd end up with someone similar to the man Lisa had married. Though maybe a little nicer at home. When he looked at me, I could tell, without knowing exactly how it is that I could tell, that he knew exactly who I should marry.
"I will help her." He said in a gentle voice.
Lisa held still and allowed him to finish. She never knew that by letting him finish, she was helping him to inspire hundreds of other artists in the future to find their path. She didn't know that by letting him finish, he was creating one of the most well-known pieces of art in all of history.
She didn't know she was participating in history.
About a day or so after the man had left with the painting in his arms, the husband came home. One of the neighbors had seen her with the man and wanted to know what was going on. He'd been furious when she said he was just there to paint a portrait of her. Nothing else.
The husband didn't believe her, so he grabbed her by her hair, and threw her against the wall. She wasn't expecting the beatings to begin so soon, so she wasn't prepared for anything like this to happen.
After he threw her against the wall he grabbed her arm and forced her to her feet with all his strength.
She cracked her head on the mantel.
I was still in the house when that happened.
I ran for over a mile before I found any police officers. They were sitting in their buggy, talking.
They came to the house as quickly as they could. The husband was cradling Lisa in his arms, trying to throw the blame on me as soon as he saw the officers but they reasoned that I wouldn’t have ran all that way if I were the one to kill her.
They arrested him and threw him in jail after the trial.
Lisa was put to rest two days after that. The nice man found me an amazing husband, who knew what had happened to me, and never laid a hand on me in the 38 years of our marriage.
My story has a happy ending, despite all the tragedies. I'm in my old age now, not able to think clearly anymore. I told my husband Lisa's entire story in bits and pieces before he died.
It wasn't easy telling him about the only sister that I ever really cared about. My brothers despised me when I took Lisa's side on everything, and my sister disowned me from the family when she found out what happened.
I don't care about them anymore.
I can hear Lisa calling me now. It's time to go.
I think I'll go to sleep now. My husband will be there waiting for me when I get there.
"Goodbye," I whisper to everyone standing around me.
All I can see is Lisa, standing in the light, motioning for me to hurry up and get there.
My life is over, but my afterlife is just beginning.
