The Human Torch was actually Marvel's first super hero :D. Of course when he started it wasn't actually Johnny Storm but he was Jim Hammond, an android. The reason he's the Johnny we know and love was because Jim became unpopular so Stan Lee and Jack Kirby took the name and powers and slapped then onto loveable Johnny Storm. I could tell you a lot more about him but I'd just be rambling at that point and you might know all of this already.

But basically, thoughts on Jim Hammond, the idea of Android!Johnny, and that the Human Torch is the first Marvel superhero?

but honestly. as someone who's unintentionally devoted their lifeforce into analyzing every single little thing about our beloved johnny storm, i think it's so well fucking deserved he's by all technicalities marvel's first superhero. i mean, come ON dude, you can't get any better than a dork flamebrain that digs everyone

as for jim hammond, unless it was a fever dream, the FF (or maybe it was just johnny/and someone else? don't rely on my horrible memory) DID meet him during a different comic series very early on. so i think it's really neat that not only did johnny take his name from that android human torch but prided himself on continuing it on in his own form. it's just so like him to continue a legacy built on good and that marvel itself wanted johnny to be the embodiment of that good.

but hello! nice to meet you in my asks and i have no answer. I LITERALLY HAVE SO MANY SHIPS ITS HARD TO EVEN SAY WHICH IS MY FAVOURITE, but obviously spideytorch is really high up there as we all know

so i can't give a specific... Anything really. but if it's one thing i appreciate in any ship, its the duality of the two. if they can challenge each other, make each other reach for new highs, get on each others nerves as much as they make each other laugh, genuinely care for one another through not just words but actions, be there for each other even when they aren't told to be, ask each other to be the one who kills them if it comes down to it because they couldn't accept anyone else doing it, and are just... so connected in a way nobody else could come close to comparing to with them? i love it. thanks for coming to my ted talk

some days all i think about is youuuu,,,,, *the thinking being about johnny and peter trick or treating together and going to haunted houses. johnny being all tough about it but he's the one that always gets terrified and clings to peter, bc peter can sense all of the jumpscares and peter just lets him hold his arm as tight as he wants. johnny ends up losing over half of his candy just by dropping it in the haunted house and not wanting to go back in. they meet up with reed, sue, ben and the kids at one point and keep trick or treating with them but ben’s an ass and keeps scaring johnny over and over again and by the end johnny’s a jittery mess and peter knows it. they all head back to the baxter building, reed and ben laughing over something too old for any of them to understand and sue making remarks, while peter gives franklin a ride on his shoulders and johnny’s piggy-backing a sleepy valeria. once the kids are all settled into bed ben pulls one last scare on johnny, really freaking him out and it ends up with johnny entirely leaving the baxter building. ben has no idea what’s got up the kids ass, sue’s scolding him for doing such a thing. peter makes eye contact with reed momentarily and it’s a second long agreement and peter excuses himself. he leaves to find johnny, of course, at their meeting place. they sit and watch new york celebrate the spookiest of days from above, knowing they were fine in their safe space, joking around. after awhile johnny pipes up with a small ‘was i overreacting back there?’ and he sounds so insecure, mostly because he’s never been scared so witless before. faced with death and impossible to pull-out-of dilemmas he’s never been that spooked. but peter stares back at him with the sternest eyes he can manage and says ‘johnny, everyone gets scared. you know that. and don’t give me “but i’m the human torch” crap. you know even you can get scared sometimes.’ and johnny stays silent for the longest time. then he looks at peter, who hasn’t looked away yet, and gives the smallest of smiles. ‘you’re such a weirdo for pep talks. hanging around reed way too much.’ and they eventually manage to go back to peter’s apartment, johnny sending sue a quick text to let her know where he is, and the rest of their night is filled with watching old rom-coms under one of peter’s filthy old blankets his aunt may gave him, and johnny falls asleep with his head on peter’s shoulder, the fear from earlier entirely gone.*

I seriously want to thank you and every spideytorch shipper for showing me this ship exists and that it’s super cuteeeee. I wish marvel would let them be together, or just let them be bi at least :/

unfortunately we can only hope marvel will come to its senses and give the boys what they ABSOLUTELY DESERVE FROM A PERSON. we just have to sit back and hope marvel realizes JOHNNY AND PETER ARE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER IN EVERY WAY. and until then we just have to keep striving by ourselves and promoting the way JOHNNY AND PETER ARE FUCKING MARRIED AND DESERVE TO BE IN A CANONIC RELATIONSHIP.

actually my contribution to spideytorch today will be that they would make great parents. why don’t we have more scenarios of them being domestic dads. they have the bickering old couple part down but where’s the other parts. I WANT TO SEE JOHNNY SITTING ON A KITCHEN COUNTER PULLING PETER IN BY HIS TIE TO GIVE HIM A KISS. I WANT TO SEE THEM COOKIE TOGETHER AND FAILING HORRIBLY BECAUSE PETER’S LUCK WITH COOKING IS WORSE THAN LIFE ITSELF. I WANT TO SEE JOHNNY AND PETER LIVING THEIR BEST LIVES RAISING A KID FOR A LITTLE WHILE, EVEN JUST AS ADOPTIVE ONE-TIME PARENTS TO A DAMN ALIEN OR SOMETHING, BECAUSE THE CHILD MISTOOK THEM FOR A COUPLE AND PROCLAIMED THEM THEIR DADS.
