For whatever itās worth, the thing Iām most excited about getting top surgery is being able to work out comfortably.
I have my consultation appointment next week so Iām nearing the finish line, and while I know itās morally neutral to be out of shape especially as a disabled person, Iām excited to work on being strong again.

It's Juneteenth yall. And I'm not letting this day go unmarked.
Black people fight for everybody. We stand in solidarity with women, lgbt people, poor people all over the world of every skin color and background. Every religion and nationality.
Today, stand with us. Be with us. Tell a black person you love them. Hug a black person (with consent). Ask that hot black girl out today. Make a black person smile. Black lives matter to everybody and you matter to us.
Stand with us on Juneteenth like we stand with you all year round, and I hope a happy Pride month continues for all of us

as a severely mentally ill 14 year old, I remember thinking āthe medical system would treat me better if I was physically ill and not mentally illā and then I coincidentally developed multiple chronic illnesses and found out that actually they dgaf even when youāre essentially bedridden

Yes!!! The original production was basically a time capsule of how grief/mental illness was treated and perceived (and what the stereotypical nuclear American family should be like with the jock son and not-like-other-girls daughter etc).
The UK production shows how much we as society have learned about mental illness and grief through how Gabe (the personification of those things) acts.
In āIām Aliveā Gabe explains all the ways grief impacts you, and grief often contradicts itself and isnāt all bad. Jack portrayal highlights that through the whole play rather than in one song.
While the play still has issues regarding bipolar treatment options like ECT (the amount of memory loss), this UK production highlights sympathizing with every person in their own ways as they navigate grief.
We understand why Diana has a hard time letting the Gabe delusion go - heās is just a sweet son. Why Dan avoids his grief - itās menacing and angry. Why Natalie is neglected and rightfully angry about it - she doesnāt see him, she only receives the consequences of emotions Gabe stirs up in her parents.
No one is the āvillainā but rather a huge complex web of emotions and actions that, with how Jack played Gabe, the audience can sympathize with every single person.
Jack Wolfe deciding they wanted to play Gabe as a real person with real emotions is I think objectively the best choice. like I donāt think Gabe is real at all, but we see Gabe from Dianaās perspective for most of the musical and to Diana he is a real person with real emotions, so it makes sense to play him that way and when we donāt see him from Dianaās perspective (in songs like āIāve Beenā and āI Am The One (Reprise)ā) the emotions that Gabe portrays (sadness and guilt in āIāve Beenā and anger and desperation in āI Am The One (Reprise)ā) are those of Dan. Theyāre all the feelings that Dan has actively been repressing showing you that Gabe is grief personified. like i feel as though if Gabe were played as simply a device for Dianaās mental illness or as purely sort of sinister and vindictive, it takes away the fact that navigating mental illness and grief is extremely difficult and by Gabe being portrayed as a real person it makes it easier for the audience to see why the Goodmans make the choices they do and sympathize with them rather than it being clear when something is a ābadā choice because we have been viewing Gabe as sinister and simply Dianaās illness.
