Quarantine update: went out for supplies today (😆) with my mask from @draconis.dances and immediately got misgendered. No one can see the beard and I should probably shave most of it off anyway for the mask. Sigh. I guess there are more important things to worry about but it still stings that I have to cover up the only thing that ensures people gender me correctly. Selina is doing a little bit better. She goes back to the vet on Monday to check how she responds to the insulin. She was too sick this week to go back to the vet. I’ve been nursing her back to some semblance of health with subq fluids, insulin injections, appetite stimulants, sponge baths, and lots of cuddling. Her spirits are up and she’s yelling a lot more but she’s still not eating as much as she should. This has been a ROUGH week. Being honest: not doing so great. On Saturday my cat’s health went downhill fast. I was able to take her to the vet and found out she has diabetes, a UTI, and possible kidney issues. We’re back at the vet today to check up on her progress. It’s been an adjustment getting her into a feeding schedule so I can give her insulin. Before this I thought I was doing okay but this has definitely knocked me down. The vet visit and medication is *extremely expensive* and I’ve lost all my gigs and almost all my future gigs. It’s depressing that I don’t know when I’ll perform on stage again. It hit me that if I have no dance income I can’t really dance. I can’t go to events, I can’t go to classes unless I have that income. And now I’m worried about my sick cat and all the vet bills. I haven’t been able to get my online classes going and feel kind of behind on that and don’t have the energy/space/spoons to work on it. Today I have to do my day job but I can’t concentrate on it and all I want to do is sit in my bed and lose myself in a video game to escape. Last night Betty (the sourdough starter) gave me their second offering: rosemary thyme garlic crackers. I’ve never baked crackers before and have no space to roll them out. It was an adventure 😆😆 They look horrible but taste amazing with my vegan cheddar cheese. And I know everyone hates on vegan cheese but when you haven’t had real cheese in years without being sick it’s not so bad 🤣 I know I know. They’re too thick and not golden enough. I’m going to indulge myself for this week’s #dancersonsocialchallenge and post TWO videos of my favorite collaborations. One is from pre-transition and the other is post-transition 😁😁 First is the fun little drum solo I did with @draconis.dances for Migrations. We worked for months, long-distance, and then because of flight delays and cancellations we had about one hour to practice together in person before we had to perform it on stage. It was pretty wild but tons of fun. Second is my pre-transition performance with @raksgeek (doing one of our non-geeky performances before we started Raks Inferno) at the White Cat Cabaret. I love working with @dawnxianamoon and @leelegancedance ❤️ Our strengths compliment each other really well, and it’s always a true collaboration. We’ve been working on more but quarantine has been making that difficult lol. We’ll definitely do more in the future though!
