Please take a moment to read this if you like farming life sims or similar games
Hi Tumblr, so I don't make posts often, I usually just reblog stuff I like or find funny or even oddly enough informative, but I needed to ask something to a wide audience and I'm hoping this gets seen.
See, I'm making a game, specifically a farming life sim, think Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons. It's a lot of fun while also frustrating all at the same time. I have thousands upon thousands of stuff written down for characters and stories and lore ad so on for this game, I've been trying my best to make this as best as I can despite never having made a game like this before.
My problem is, it's reminding me too much of another game called Fields of Mistria which also uses the same game making engine I'm using, GameMaker Studio 2, and is honestly a lot better. Granted there's like a whole team behind that game if my research is correct and I'm just... One person. Making this game in my free time. All the assets, most of not all the sound, all the code, all will be done by me. Ground up babyyyy! Heh.... Anyway, I'm kinda worried this will be called a worse knock off or something despite me knowing it's not. There are similarities (I have bought and played Fields of Mistria and it's a whole lot of fun and yes there are some inspirations from it but not a lot , at least I think)
The reason I'm making this post is to hear from the masses as best as I can. I wanna know what you think and if there are any helpful tips or tricks or even if you're interested in my game or what have you. I'm probably over thinking as I often do but yea. I'll put a brief description of my game under the "read more" cut so you can judge for yourself but keep in mind certain things are not set in stone since this is still really early in the development, like SUPER early, again just me working on this, so names and such are subject to change, the story is likely to be tweaked here and there but the main beats will remain.
-----
The land of Eonah is slowly falling apart. The lands have begun to wither away from the edges inward, falling into the still lively sea. As the rot creeps inward on the continent of Olextamol and others. However, there is one person making their way to the place where everything was set into motion.
A young budding farmer moving into Cardime Town. A place yet to be catastrophically effected by this strange phenomena. The land has been losing nutrients but while they're there this new farmer will learn why this is happening, a tale starting back before the planet even existed and stretching to today.
Farm, befriend, and learn if you wish about the planet and it's history. Meet and quell the anger of the six gods to end this decay. Enjoy time with a wide array of colorful characters, some you can start a family with if you choose. Travel to four places outside of Cardime Town but still tied to the land as a whole that makes up Celestial Valley.
Could the world be saved by a humble farmer? We can only wait and see.
-----
Mechanics that I'm likely to include but aren't set in stone:
Movement
Friendship system (The player can befriend all 50+ characters, yes I got carried away but there were a LOT more and I cut out a few... It used to be 60+)
Marriage (There are 17 romancable characters though there might be more or less later on)
Time/season system
Children
Character creation (players can customize their character as much as they want, but some things are limited at the start like clothes and hair style)
Mounts
Status effects
Combat (in certain areas it is very dangerous so the player can fight to protect themself with different weapons.)
Magic* (This is a bit different since it's tied to certain things, I'm not super sure if I'll put it in the game in the end, but maybe)
Emotes* (not sure if I'll even put this)
Events
Holidays
Harvesting plants, animal produce (like eggs or feathers), forageable items, etc
Planting seeds
Watering plants
Tilling soil/chopping wood/cutting weeds and grass/mining rocks and such/other similar mechanics
Milking any cow or similar animal
Cutting sheep, and similar animals, wool/fur
Brushing/petting animals
Interacting with npcs and certain objects
Cooking/Crafting
Upgrading/adding buildings to the farm
Unlocking other areas
Decorations and other placeable objects
Shopping
Selling
Money system
Lore Mode and Non-Lore Mode (this is because I have so much lore and backstory and I'm aware not a lot of people are into it so this just cuts stuff down and makes the player seek it out if they want it rather than being bombarded with stuff, if that makes sense)
Swimming
Diving
Fishing (rod)
Fishing (net/trap)
Bug catching* (Not sure if I'll keep this in the game but I might)
-----
Anyway, sorry for the long post and I hope it makes sense. Thank you for your time. I was trying to keep this close to my chest for a bit because it's so early in the development that I didn't wanna get anyone's hopes up but a part of me wanted to talk about it and needed some comfort or something, I dunno. Thanks for reading.

How to draw Afro textured 4c hair - an explanation/Tutorial
For those of you that don’t know what 4c hair is, 4c hair is a hair texture type that contains coils to small and tight that the hair appears to be more puffy rather than curly ( like to photo below ) this is in NO WAY to be confused with curly hair. there is a drastic difference.
Tumblr media
As a black artist that primarily draws characters with 4c hair, I’ve been asked many times to do a tutorial on 4c hair so here we go~
Tumblr media
before we get into 4c hair, lets take a moment to fully understand it by talking about hair texture in a general sense first
Tumblr media
let’s take a look at this example of straight hair vs curly hair ( 1 type straight hair vs 3 type curly hair )
Tumblr media
If you take a moment to compare the two you’ll notice straight hair is flat, it has no texture. Straight hair perfectly hangs down similar to liquid-like silk. It’s lack of curl pattern is the reason as to why it hangs perfectly flat.
curly hair on the other hand doesn’t lie down flat and silky like straight hair, It’s more thick. Curly hair in it’s raw and unstyled state has a trapezoid like shape this is because the sides of the hair spread more outward.
Tumblr media
So why is this? Why is straight hair flat and curly hair thick?
the answer to that question is a thing called piling up. When it comes to hair texture, the shape of the hair strands aren’t the only thing that matters, its how the strands coexist with each other, Curly hair strands coexist by piling up on top each other.
moisture also effects hair texture too, different hair types absorbs moisture differently, thus the thickness of each hair type is different.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…..soooo, how does this all relate to how to draw 4c hair??
Well let’s take a look at the drawing below. Notice how the arrows go outward more as the hair texture gets curlier. As we’ve already discussed, this is because hair piles up, The curlier the hair texture, the more it piles up on each other, the bigger it gets, the more outward the arrows go.
Out of any hair texture, 4C hair has the most curls. Because of this, the hair piles up on each other so much that it doesn’t lie down flat like straight hair, nor does it make a trapezoid like shape like curly hair, it instead becomes more cloud like.❤️
Tumblr media
This is what you need to take into account when it comes to drawing 4C hair.
Tumblr media
Think of it as piling up a bunch of cotton balls on each other. The most cotton on top of top to lead to a bigger patch of  cotton. this is 4c hair.
How to not draw 4c hair:
Garnet fanart. Let’s talk about Garnet Fanart. I notice a trend that when artists draw Garnet from Steven universe, her hair texture is usually changed to 3 type curly like texture. This subtle form of White washing has confused me because this is inaccurate.
Tumblr media
Garnet’s hair is in the shape of a cube. Though 3 type hair piles up on each other, it isn’t curly nor thick enough for their hair to stay in the shape of a cube. Curly hair lies down more than 4c hair. So garnet’s hair being in the shape of a cube is a dead giveaway that it is 4C. Why do you think hairstyles like flat tops are usually seen on black men with 4c hair? It’s because, the 4c hair texture is thick and strong enough to stay in whatever shape you put it in.
Tumblr media
please, if you’re drawing a character with 4c hair, avoid drawing it like curly 3 type hair, this is very anti-black and texturist.
So, how do you draw 4c hair?
honestly, its the most easy thing in the world
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i wanna clarify that blobby looking 4c drawings ( like the one on the top left ) can work depending on how cartoony your art style is.
Another thing that I want to greatly clarify when it comes to drawing 4C hair is, YOU. DONT. NEED. TO. DRAW. EVERY. HAIR. STRAND!…..like, seriously. I’ve gotten many messages about how 4C hair is hard to draw, and it’s always left me confused; but then I find out that the same people that have trouble drawing 4C hair, attempt to draw every single strand of hair. This is unnecessarily time consuming because it’s merely impossible to get every single detail down, especially when you have a simple cartoon style. 4C hair does not require much effort, all you’re doing is drawing lumps. It’s that simple, nothing more nor nothing less.
The reason why I greatly advise all of you to avoid drawing every single hair strand is because in real life, when you look at a 4C textured Afro, your eyes don’t pick up on each individual hair strand like straight or curly hair. 4C hair, appears to be more undefined and cloud like, so attempting to draw each and every individual strand is unnecessary and will most likely end up looking inaccurate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways! that’s it for now! there will be a part 2 to this tutorial that will come out next week! i hope you guys have learned from this and apply it to your black character in your art!~

Hey fellas.
There's a blog named @/fucktrpc that's putting posts of dead animals in tags used for rpc. I'd recommend blocking that blog asap as they seem to be a troll blog looking to get some sick kicks.
Please feel free to reblog this to spread awareness.

... So remember this wip of Lecto Brimstone? Well I did the flat color and... I uh... I had a lot of fun. Ngl I love her so much. The clothes hide her chunky-ness but she is supposed to be kinda chunky and short. If I ever get the courage to do so I might put up an image of her without clothes... Maybe... Not quite sure if I will... Hmm...
Anyway now I'm off to draw her wife and son and the other characters for my game. Might take breaks to code or write or something. The writing for characters is almost done at over 70 pages of info... For JUST the characters. That doesn't even touch on the lore and mechanics and so on and so forth. Soooo yea. Having a whole lotta fun with this and am enjoying myself more than I expected. Progress is slow but I'm making good headway. Will keep everyone updated as needed. If anyone wants to ask questions about my game, which I'm still figuring out the final title for, then please ask. I'll answer what I can so yea. Maybe I'll make a side blog for this stuff to keep things organized, who knows.
Here is a WIP of the other character I posted named Oscar

Another WIP for that game I'm working on. The design isn't final but I'm loving her so far so it might not change much in comparison to her final design. Anyway this is Lecto Brimstone, yes she has a last name and not Oscar but there is a reason for that. A majority of the characters will have a last name so keep that in mind ^^

A new drawing of this character that I'm kinda proud of. The pose doesn't show Sara's chubbiness but I still think it fits her. Maybe I'll redraw this when I'm better at drawing chunky characters. Still not the best at it but I'm doing my best. Was honestly more focused on the pose if I remember correctly (this is an older piece so there's that).

Have another Kari from my rottmnt discord rp. She is absolutely pissed and ready to fight. This was fun to draw, especially her facial expression.
