2022 Recap: Top 5 Books I Read This Year
1. Carrie Soto Is Back (2022) by Taylor Jenkins Reid
“One of the great injustices of this rigged world we live in is that women are considered to be depleting with age and men are somehow deepening.”
2. How to Be Perfect: The Correct Answer to Every Moral Question (2022) by Michael Schur
“We also might wonder if there’s a single way to define a “good” person; after all, as the author Philip Pullman once wrote, “People are too complicated to have simple labels.”
3. Clarity & Connection (2019) by Yung Pueblo
“vulnerability asks for non-judgmental acceptance of our imperfections.”
4. The House of Mirth (1905) by Edith Wharton
“My idea of success,” he said, “is personal freedom.” “Freedom? Freedom from worries?” “From everything—from money, from poverty, from ease and anxiety, from all the material accidents. To keep a kind of republic of the spirit—that’s what I call success.”
5. The Bodyguard (2022) by Katherine Center
“You can’t make people love you. But you can give the love you long for out to the world. You can be the love you wish you had. That’s the way to be okay. Because giving love to other people is a way of giving it to yourself.”

I know Gillian and David said they'd never work together again outside of playing Mulder and Scully, but is it really too much to ask for them to do a romcom? Or any romance movies? Their chemistry is too good to not be of use ever again!

Conversation
Mia : It's pretty strange that we keep running into each other.
Sebastian : Maybe it means something.
Mia : I doubt it.
Sebastian : Yeah, I didn't think so.
Yes, it's from my favorite movie of all-time.

Most timidities have such secret compensations, and Miss Bart was discerning enough to know that the inner vanity is generally in proportion to the outer self-depreciation.

My favorite video game character, Fragile, played by Léa Seydoux in Death Stranding (2019).

I only learned recently that Léa Seydoux was cast in an adaptation of the French novel, Emmanuelle. Sounds innocent enough, yeah? Well, no, it's an erotic novel, and if you Google the plot, it's insane. I have not seen the old movie adaptation but given the recent trends in cinema (let alone French cinema) this is shaping up to be a racy, artsy movie.
Now I'm just hoping for a Louis Garrel casting or any other French actor with the same level of hotness chemistry with Léa and I'm sold.
