You know what’s funny? Having a huge squish on someone.

You fantasize about hanging out with them, doing and talking about whatever you would share to your dearest friends. You’d want to be someone who would have their back and you’d want them to have yours. You crave a hug from them, or a platonic kiss (srsly, have we forgotten those existed?) You have this feeling of comfort because you look at them as someone you would like to rely on. You wish to talk to them all the time, yet are hesitant because you don’t want to bug them and seem like you actually have a crush on them because these thoughts and feelings are taken in a romantic context. You feel anxious, “Gosh, why haven’t I talked to them? Don’t I just want to be friends?” “Do I actually like them romantically?” “Why do I feel like I always wanna be around them?” “Why do I crave their touch?” Add that to if you never knew you can have a platonic crush on someone. You would call it a crush to just keep it short and simple. And then you’d just go along with what a crush would be, although knowing it doesn’t fit what you feel. (to my fellow questioning aros, you feel me, right?) Then you just panic thinking if you’ve actually developed feelings for them. Then you go “How would I feel if I would date them?” And it’s just, “Ew, no” because that’s just not your cup of tea. It’s just… these feelings. These damn feelings. It makes you confused, not knowing what the heck it is. Not knowing how to deal with it. You’re internally screaming cuz you just don’t understand yourself.

And when you discover the arospec and identify with it and you just think of these feelings and the crushing self-doubt just runs you over…

You’d rather have a “Man, I love you so much, we should share our life stories and talk about our theories of the world. We would be a great duo/friend group” than a “Man, I love you so much let’s go on a date and kiss. We would be a great couple.”

Note: Hah… I just felt like talking about this since I’ve been feeling this for the past friggin year. It’s so strange… Since I was but a little child, I thought I was aro (Ok, I didn’t know the term then, I just knew I’ve never been interested in marrying/dating anyone)… and maybe I still am? Im questioning lol. I’ve met someone I found interesting but I never felt the need to have a romantic relationship with them. They’re just really cool. And I’d love to be friends with them. Also, I guess I tend to over-analyze romance plots in fiction or just question people in relationships cuz I can’t really recognize what makes it “click” so uh that says something. I still love playing as the third-wheel wingman with my friends at school though cuz it’s fun >:]
