to all in the twilight fandom that think midnight sun did rosalie hale’s character dirty; a tumblr essay
this essay shows the reasons as to why rosalie hale is NOT misunderstood by those who dislike her and why she’s actual vampire garbage. to serve this purpose, i have compiled a list of some of the shit rosalie pulled in the original twilight saga and the things we’ve found out in midnight sun.
disclaimer: i’m aware of rosalie’s backstory and although that’s absolutely tragic, heartbreaking, and infuriating and i’m truly glad she took revenge on her assaulters, it’s still no excuse to treat others the way she does.
1. she was pro personally ripping resume / demon child from bella’s body because she wanted to have it as her own.
2. she dislikes bella because she’s a human who has her own opinions on vampirism and her own future and makes her own decisions, opinions that differ from her own. mind you, rosalie is almost a century old and blames an 18-year-old for all the things she’s not able to do. the 18-year-old doesn’t owe her anything, and especially not with all the shit rosalie did to her.
3. she dislikes edward because he’s never felt any form of attraction towards and didn’t worship the ground she walked on like other men do in her vampire form and did in her human days.
4. in addition to the previous point: she wants to kill edward’s mate in the name of “protecting the family”, but a good majority of her actual reasoning is that she’s jealous about edward liking "an ordinary human” and not her goddess self. (do not fight me on this one, since this is literally confirmed in midnight sun)
5. she ratted on the reason alice went back to forks to edward knowing damn well bella’s death would send him straight to the volturi to k*ll himself.
6. she’s hated being a vampire from the second her transformation ended (the only thing she liked being the fact that she’s even more beautiful now) but then demands carlisle to doom emmett with the same faith she despises because he looked like a child she knew in her human days.
in conclusion, rosalie was NOT done dirty by smeyer. if rosalie would have experienced positive character development WITHOUT the demon child “forcing” that narrative (because let’s be honest: that would’ve been a character arc we all could have stanned) i wouldn’t be making this post. y’all need to stop romanticing traumatized characters whose shitty behavior has nothing to do with their trauma.

Medicine  ⚕
Nights spent in the library. Sleepily watching dissections. Charming yet withdrawn. Involuntary bursts of laughter. Tiny, invisible cafes. Lab coats folded over arms. Surprisingly affectionate. Bags that fit everything. Forever nursing a mug of coffee. Tear-stained anatomy sketches. Faint smell of formaldehyde and new textbook pages. Getting lost in parks. Bundling up in large, hand-me-down scarves. Rushing to 9 AM labs. The sound of scratching pens and scraping chairs. Sharing umbrellas. Escapades to art galleries and petting zoos. Light spilling through cracks in blinds.
Literature  ☰
Sobbing into the morning over Keats. Slight under eye bags. Glaring through steamy windows. Blaring of tinny background radio. Stopping for every stray cat. Always cold. Endless pending novels. Lots of pacing. Eager to please and prone to excitability. Scraps of writing falling out of sweater sleeves and pockets. Desk overflowing with books and loose leaves. Back pain from heavy bags. Ink-stained cuticles. Rustling leaves and ripples in ponds. Wrestling with Latin. Sitting near fountains with readings. Leaving notes in library books.
Mathematics #
Months spent on trying to solve impossible theorems. Research and catalogues of ancient mathematical instruments. Button up shirts and slightly unruly hair. Chalk/white-board maker covered sleeves. Lots of gesticulations and nail biting. Fervent bicycle maintenance. Night raids of hot food stands and late night take outs. Bright, patterned socks. Tendency to fall into long bouts of silence. Impromptu chess tournaments. Measuring various objects for the Golden ratio. Very nice shoes. Blankets as capes. Turtle necks and fountain pens. Skimming pebbles on canals at midnight.
Physics  ☄
Suspenders and bad jokes. Taking hydrometers to the lake every new season. Dragging friends to fields on clear nights. Deep pockets. Pouncing onto conspiracy theories. Hours hunched behind a telescope. Napping in observatories. Slightly paranoid. Waistcoats and denim jackets. Hair tied back with string or copper wires. Blunt and matter of fact. Making up new constellations. Half finished reconstructions of Da Vinci’s contraptions. Corduroy trousers. Drinking tea straight from the flask. Breakfast on rooftops.
Art   ⛆
Smocks and mismatched stockings. Paint stained cheeks and fingers. A little absent. Linen and dungarees. Tendency to fall into melancholy. Shirts with strange prints. Mirrors. Sleeping under rose bushes. Making paint brushes from your own hair. Stamp collections. Tall glasses of milk and honey. Worn patchwork quilts. Watching sunsets on balconies. Painting by candle light. Holding hands. Locking yourself in class rooms. Keeping broken tea cups. Always has a plaster somewhere. Mischievous.
Chemistry  ⚗
Holing up in dark rooms with experiments. Carries around anti-acid pills and disposable pipettes. Toasting marshmallows over bunsen burners. Clothes smudged with strange powders. A little erratic. Explosions and burnt fingertips. Glasses held together with tape. Half eaten sandwiches and rogue litmus paper pads in pockets. Small, secret smiles. Notebooks meticulously listing all local poisons and their antidotes. Fingerless gloves. Too big rain coats and ancient second hand umbrellas. Burning sparklers into the night. Thick leather belts. Rubber bands on wrists.
Biology  ⚘
Collecting the bones of small animals. Building a seed library. Tracking the migration patterns of the local geese. Walks during golden hour. Cross-breeding new plant subspecies. Bedroom covered in flora of various sizes. Easily impressed. Dog-eared nature guides and bird watching catalogues. Wading through marshes. Brews own fruit teas. Getting caught in sudden showers. Books filled with dried flowers. Good-natured to a fault. Thick coats. Amber jewellery. Magnifying glasses of assorted sizes. Camping in the wood. Owns too many instant cameras.

Tips to study in one week or less
Exams and finals are fast approaching for many people and we’ve all been in a place where we have too much to study and too little time to do it. I am an avid procrastinator so more often than not, I let all material build up in my desk and then I stress out to go over everything before the exam! Fear no more! I have the perfect formula for you!
Stop procrastinating! Going through productivity/study tips youtube videos or studyblrs is not going to do the work for you. Stop obsessing about it, leave your phone out of your study space and organize everything you have to do.
Make a list with all the chapters/topics you have to study. That way you can have a notion of everything you should know. Once you get over them, you can cross them out and feel productive enough to keep going. Trust me, that feeling is one of the best when you are studying!
Study smart, not hard — Understand what are the most important ones and focus on those. If you have little time, there is no way you can go over every material (if it’s too much like usually happens in college/uni) and also, no professor will question everything with the same detail in the exam.
Distribute the amount of material for the amount of days you have — leave at least 2 out. It’s important to organize the material during the amount of time you have so you don’t get too lazy in one day and then stress too much over the many things you have to study on another. Evaluate well what might take longer or not and if it doesn’t work as planned, adjust your plan in the end of the study day. The last two days before the exam are important to leave free for revisions and exam preparation.
In those last 2 days, test yourself. It can be previous exams from previous years (they’re the best option), tests online, quizzes with a friend. Exams from previous years are my favourite option - professors aren’t very original so it’s highly possibly that they will repeat questions. The line of questions are also very similar and even if there aren’t many repeated, at least you already know the basis. Tests online similar to what your professors use are also a good option as well as quiz a friend and vice versa, however, this last option might take longer and not work in little time. If you work well with a study buddy, testing each other would be beneficial for both.
REVIEW ONLY what you’re less prepared for, what you did wrong in the tests, what professors ask the most. If you don’t have enough time, you don’t want to waste it reviewing what you already know. If you know, you know. Believe and trust yourself!!
Don’t stress yourself, it will be alright. Stressing over little time can be a good pressure and motivator but too much can do the opposite effect and that’s not your intention. Find a balance, use your study breaks well enough to rest and relax so you won’t be too overwhelmed in the middle of an afternoon and do nothing the rest of the day.
GET A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE. You can wake up earlier to review but make sure you have at least 7 hours of sleep that night. Sleeping well the night before the exam is essencial for your brain to process everything you’ve studied. It will also allow your brain to be fresh and ready to work by the time you take the exam. If you are too tired from an all nighter, your brain will be tired and not work as quick and efficient as you need it.
Trust yourself. It doesn’t matter the amount of time you had, you still know the material. If you believe in yourself, you’re halfway passed!! You have to remind yourself that you did the best you could with the time you had. As long as you know that, you’ll feel so much lighter and the exam will go so much better. And if it doesn’t, you won’t feel guilty because you know you gave your best. In college/university, we never know everything or get out of an exam feeling like we scored the best grade ever.

Tumblr media
Hey guys, so I’m nearing the end of my senior year, and it’s been great so far! I accomplished my academic tasks efficiently and didn’t burn myself out, and I think the main contributor to my success as a student is my organization system. This system has been refined throughout my high school years, but I think now I’ve finally found the most effective methods.
Please remember that this isn’t the only organization system you can adopt; this is just the one that works the best for me, and I hope that by sharing it with you, you’ll gain a new perspective on how to stay organized as a high school student.
Tumblr media
The first thing I wanna talk about is my notebook system, which I briefly mentioned in my Guide to Note-Taking.
My notebook system comprises three types of notebooks: the Everything Notebook, the subject notebook, and the revision notebook.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Everything Notebook
The first stage is in-class notes. I only bring one notebook to school every day. I call it my Everything Notebook, and this is where I write down all of the notes I take in class. This way, I don’t have to lug around six notebooks where I’m only going to use a few pages in each of them that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subject Notebooks
At the end of the day, I would revise my notes and compare them to the syllabus so I know where we are in the learning process. I would then transfer my class notes from my Everything Notebook to my different subject notebooks. This is stage two. I also start to jazz up my notes because I use the notes in my subject notebooks to study for tests.
In addition to my class notes, I include material from my teachers’ notes that they might not have elaborated on, as well as points in the syllabus (I’m currently taking A2) that were only glazed over briefly, or not at all, in some cases. (Note: this does not mean they completely skip a chapter or topic; it’s more like they missed a few bullet points that should be in my notes but aren’t. An example would be if we’re learning about phenol reactions and the teacher forgot to mention the use of FeCl3 as a test for phenol.)
Tumblr media
Revision Notebooks
Stage three comes a little later, when exam week is just around the corner. Essentially, I rewrite and improve my notes from my five different subject notebooks into a single revision notebook or binder. (Recently, I’ve opted for a revision notebook because they’re lighter and easier to carry around.)
Tumblr media
Because my teachers don’t always teach in the order of the syllabus, the first thing I do is organize my notes according to the syllabus. I would then fill in any other missing gaps in the material that hadn’t been filled in stage two.
Tumblr media
When compiling material for my revision notebook, I use as many sources as possible: my own notes, my teachers’ notes, youtube videos, online sites, and my favorite, the mark scheme! I add in some answers from past papers (explanations only, so no calculations) mainly to secure marks. It’s safer to memorize definitions straight from the mark scheme than from the textbook or from handouts. I also do this to ease my memorization, especially for topics that require lengthy explanations. It’s a lot easier to remember the 6 points I need to explain the principles of NMRI than to remember everything in the four-page handout my teacher gave me.
Tumblr media
Folders and binders are essential to organizing your papers. Some people keep a single accordion folder for all their papers, but for me it’s just too heavy to carry around all the time. The same goes for subject folders that are brought to school every day.
Instead, my binder/folder system comprises my Everything Folder and my subject binders.
Tumblr media
The Everything Folder
The folder I carry with me to school every day is this A4 folder I got from Tokyu Hands. It has 5 pockets, one for each day of the week, so all the papers I receive on Monday will go behind the first divider, and so on.
Some people also keep blank papers in their folders; I don’t because my school has its own lined paper and graphing pads that I keep under my desk that I use if a teacher asks us to do an assignment on those papers. If I do work at home, I prefer to just use a plain A4 paper or a legal pad.
Tumblr media
Subject Binders
At the end of the week, I’ll sort my papers into my subject binders. Sometimes I’ll keep some papers in the folder if I think I’ll be needing it the next week. This usually only applies to worksheets because all my teachers’ notes are available on Google Classroom, so I can access them even if I don’t physically have them.
Tumblr media
Each of these binders have sections inside them:
Physics: 1 for handouts, notes, and tests, 1 for Paper 4 (Theory), 1 for Paper 5 (Practical Planning). I included extra tabs to mark the different topics in the handouts section.
Chemistry: same as Physics.
Economics: 1 for Paper 3 (MCQ), 1 for Paper 4 (Case Study and Essay). A lot of my Economics material is online, though.
English: 1 for Paper 3 (Text and Discourse analysis), and 2 for Paper 4 (Language Topics, which includes 1 for Child Language Acquisition, 1 for World Englishes). Past papers, handouts, and notes all go under their respective topics.
Mathematics: I just keep everything together because I never revise math and just constantly do past papers.
This makes it easier for me to revise each subject because I can just take one binder with me instead of a messy folder with everything just shoved in there.
Tumblr media
I keep a magazine file for each of my A-Level subjects (English and Mathematics are combined). All my textbooks, revision guides, and subject notebooks are kept here, so if I need to revise one subject, that’s the magazine file I’ll take out.
Tumblr media
These magazine files prevent any small things (like my book of flashcards) from being shoved to the back of my bookshelf, or materials from different subjects from getting mixed up.
Tumblr media
In my senior year, I mostly plan using this app called Edo Agenda. It syncs across all my devices for free and has all the features I need: a to do list to organize tasks, monthly and weekly calendars to organize events, a journal to organize notes and memos.
Tumblr media
I used to bullet journal regularly, but it takes too much time during weekdays, so now I just bullet journal for the therapeutic effects it gives me, and I use an app for organizing tasks and events. Sometimes at the end of each week, I’ll transfer my tasks to my bullet journal and then decorate the page, but again, this is just for its therapy.
Tumblr media
Organizing your school supplies is just as important as organizing your papers and notes. With a more organized backpack and pencil case, you won’t waste time looking for your things at the bottom of an abyss.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pencil Case
I don’t find it necessary to bring so much stationery to school unless I plan on making notes at school (usually during revision week).
Backpack
Because we’re already in the revision term, I don’t really carry a lot of things in my everyday backpack, just the following:
Pencil case
Everything Notebook
Everything Folder
Revision notebook
Kindle
Phone
Wallet
Earphones
Calculator
Speaker
Drinking bottle
A pouch with things like a hairbrush, pads, and lip balm
And that’s all for now! I hope this post will help you organize your school life (if you haven’t already) or at least provide some useful insights on some ways to stay organized as a high school student.

Me to book characters: Can you just please admit your feelings for each other?
Every freaking author: Let's just wait for fifteen and a half more chapters. And then kill one of them.
