One Piece Chapter 1054 - Initial Thoughts

That was a long 4 weeks, but finally we can resume regular One Piece programming. What awaits us from the post-25th Anniversary celebrations? Let's not wait any longer

For the cover page we have the new Yonko, confirming again Luffy's colour scheme

I know that title's an Ace reference too

Just as Aramaki comes towards the Flower Capital though, the Akazaya (minus Kin'emon who's with his wife and Kiku who I would guess is still in mourning) and Shinobu confront the Admiral

Urgh, he's pro-Akainu and pro-Celestial Dragons? I'd spit on him but he'd use it for sustenance

Because he has the Forest-Forest Fruit, occam's razor I guess, he's a logia too so Fujitora's Paramecia is the odd Admiral out, the Oddmiral

His fruit is mighty powerful though, it seems like he's awakened too

Prejudice breeds Stability? Fuck Off man!

I dunno what justice you follow but murder is still pretty damn illegal, the World Government is not the only kind of enforcement?

Yamato shows up with the smack, and so does Momo

Momo's blast breath doesn't quite work though and he becomes entangled by the forest man

Strangely though, Momo tells Yamato and the samurai to stand down. Is he going to negotiate?

Well look who it is just in time for promoting a movie about his daughter?

Shanks is in Wano upon news that Luffy is now a Yonko

Yasopp I don't think you're ever gonna be ready to meet Usopp because there's a lot of baggage there to unfold

Proud Papa Shanks though, followed by flashback of Feral Papa Shanks stealing the DF from CP9 and a glimpse of Who's Who

It does feel like he knew the truth of the fruit, at least it's being implied

Having the gorilla man call Luffy 'a rampaging demon monkey' is a good pun, wonder what Sore Omae Dayo means *checks* 'That's You'? hmmm

Shanks decides against meeting with Luffy though, they're fellow Yonko now and Barto did claim a territory under Luffy without any idea that they're connected

Shanks now is going after the One Piece! The Red Haired Pirate is Making His Move!

And now over to Marineford and we're getting more Reverie reveals

Sabo is not dead, he's become a hero as the 'Flame Emperor'

They say he killed Cobra though, and that his popularity is because he killed him due the Nefertari being former Celestial Dragons

Attack Homes and a monument huh, I buy one of those

And they even got Kuma out!

And Vivi is now missing!

Their ship hasn't left port and you don't find that suspect?

Charloss was almost assassinated too? So close ¬_¬ Mjosgard pardoned them though so I wonder if that's just the whole Shirahoshi incident

Now many countries are rebelling though in Sabo's name, which explains the giant poster. His Luffy ties help rally people too

The god worship may be a bit much though, I would be wary of that

And be extra worried about what Akainu plans as fighting back, he could easily go all gestapo on people...

Back and off the ground running

To be fair Oda could've had a super quiet chapter and we'd still praise it for being back, but this is setting up a lot of things for the final saga. Hell we haven't even touched on Buggy or Blackbeard yet so still a lot more to come.

I'm surprised the Samurai were the one to cut off Aramaki, plus Yamato. I feel like at least the Straw Hats with Observation Haki know he's there. Yamato showing up feels strange to go alone, he's acting more like Momo's bodyguard than someone who desperately wants to leave the country. With Aramaki's disregard for Wano's civilians I do wonder if he'll be forced to make a deal.

Shanks showing up is some tasty stuff too. Not only is Luffy now being held in the same esteem and the OGs are mega proud of him, but now the real game begins. Shanks and Luffy are now expected to clash - no thanks to Barto not knowing his history - and to motivate Luffy into overthrowing his idol he's gonna go after the One Piece as well! I mean, Luffy does want to save Shanks for last but I don't think he's gonna get to choose, but I expect it to be bantering competition like Whitebeard and Roger used to.

And then the Reverie stuff, Sabo sure made himself the next Che Guevara there. But even with word of Cobra dead and Vivi missing I couldn't help but grin. Because I see through it, it's going just as I expected it to.

Make no mistake, I'm confident that both Vivi is not in danger, and Sabo did not kill Cobra. The reports simply here that he did, and attacked homes, because the WG intends to villainize him. In reality I bet that he thwarted the Gorosei's assassination of Vivi and she's with the army now, Cobra could be dead protecting his daughter, but he could also be alive but unrecognizable from Jewelry Bonney's power - who was not mentioned at all in reports. Kuma being released is a big plus for the Army, so long as they find a way to get his mind back, and for that they'll need Vegapunk.

To top all this off, public unrest is on the rise, much like real life events. Revolution is in the air which means the RA will be more prominent, and the Marines will be forced to re-establish order as the WG's behest.

Despite all this we still don't know what's going on with Drake, Hawkins, Apoo, Caribou, if Yamato and/or Carrot will become Nakama, Zoro and the reaper, the Vinsmoke's escape from Whole Cake Island, Big Mom and Kaido's status, Big Mom's ship around Wano, Pluton, how Buggy became Yonko and all the other Warlord's status.

There's plenty still to learn, but it all kicks off from here.

Okay, so I just saw the trailer for the movie Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance that is premiering on Netflix, a follow up film to its series Wu Assassins

And it seems? Like they killed Jenny off? As in, someone actually killed her and the plot of the movie is the guys hunting down her killer.

And if that’s the case then I am OUTRAGED. And SHOCKED. Like, that plot feels like it should be about tracking down Zan, as Uncle Six’s killer (not everyone liked him, but Kai obviously had complicated feelings for him and the three of them would have backed him up if that’s what he wanted); plus it would pick up from the show better.

But - maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. Maybe there’s a twist coming, like her body has been possessed again and the boys just don’t know it yet (it is a magic/mystical show, after all). 

I’m really hoping that’s the case. It’s not like Jenny’s my favorite character or anything, but it just feels hurtful to her character to just kill her off, and it really disrupts the core friend group of Kai, Jenny, Tommy, and Lu Xin. The show itself was...okay in some poins, the script definitely could have gone through a few more peer reviews and revisions --- but I always loved the strong bond between the friends; like, you knew no matter the danger or complications (moral, magical, or otherwise), these four care about each other and want to be there for each other even with their own flaws.

So. Here’s hoping there’s more to this movie than meets the eye.

One Piece Fanfiction Prompt

Story Prompt:

A few years after Luffy becomes the Pirate King, the Strawhats face their most important and delicate mission yet: attending Vivi's wedding!

With Smoker & his team among the guests, will the Strawhats be able to celebrate with their distant crewmate without getting captured or ruining Alabasta's reputation?

Hilarity and shenanigans should ensue. I personally ship Vivi with Kohza but that's not necessary. I also think a heartfelt conversation between Robin and Vivi would be nice.

Frozen 2 Alt. Plot Thoughts

I think in Frozen 2 it would have been really interesting to see Elsa/Anna put Kristoff in charge of protecting the people while they went off to find the Enchanted Forest. 

Like, I’m happy Kristoff was with the girls, but then his story didn’t really go anywhere, and this alternate route would have been a good way to dive into his feelings about wanting to marry a princess (later queen) -- tying into his failing-to-propose plot -- and a nice contrast to when Anna put Hans in charge while she went to find Elsa in the first movie (especially because in a deleted draft Kristoff had just recently been named a lord of Arendelle).

I find it kinda hilarious that, in the original Ghost Bride book by Yangsze Choo, Lim Tiang-ching at first tries to “woo” Li Lan in her dreams ---

But in the TV series, he just straight up tries to scare the bejeezus out of her from the get go

Great series though, I loved it when it came out in Jan. 2020. Wish it would get a second season. This is a great time of year to watch it, too, since it’s actually set around the time of the Chinese holidays “7 7 festival” and “Hungry Ghost Month” which this year takes place in late August

Post-KH3 Ficlet

So this is more of an idea of a draft of an idea, and I don’t know where it’s going, if it’s going anywhere. But I liked the idea of the MoM interacting with the Guardians while they searched for Sora, and then the image of him chatting to Lea/Axel about his apprentices as though they were his kids came to mind.

So here is my very mini-Kingdom Hearts fic that nobody asked for, featuring Lea and the Master of Masters!

The door closed behind Roxas and Xion as they headed out to meet their friends at the Usual Spot. Lea sighed contently into the couch pillow, ready to fall asleep.

“Hey, kids are great, aren’t they?”

Lea shot up immediately, startled by the unfamiliar voice. A chakram flared to life in his left hand as he looked around wildly. There, standing in front of him, as if they’d materialized out of nothing, was a tall figure dressed in a black coat. An Organization XIII coat.

“You! What are you doing and what do you want?” Lea demanded. Briefly he realized he meant to summon his Keyblade; it still wasn’t quite natural enough for him. But a chakram would do for now, until he knew what he was dealing with.

“I had kids once,” the figure continued, ignoring Lea’s questions. If Lea had to guess he’d say it was man. “Well, they weren’t really my kids per se -- or is it that they weren’t my kids? Anyway, they were a good bunch, did what they were told. Not the brightest stars in the sky, if you know what I mean -- but hey, the apples don’t fall far from the tree so maybe it’s my fault, hmm?”

Lea snorted. “Listen, I love family drama as much as the next soap opera fan, but I’m not in the mood for it right now. Now” he lit his chakram on fire and slid into a fighting stance “what. Do you want?”

“Whoa! So hostile!” the man exclaimed, jerking back and putting his hands up. It reminded Lea of Demyx in a way.  “Is that any way to treat a guest?”

“If you’re a guest, then you’ve overstayed your welcome,” Lea replied. “And that means I can throw you out on your ear.” Fire crackled around his chakram, eager to burn something to a crisp. It had been a long time since they’d consumed anything besides Heartless.

(...not that...Lea wanted to destroy anything besides Heartless. Just...it’d be nice to know that he still could, if needed)

“Ah, but if you do that, then you won’t get to hear what I know about Sora,” the man countered.

That pulled Lea up short. HIs flames fizzled out as he stared at the black-cloaked figure. “Sora? You know something about Sora? Is he alright? Where is he?”

The figure shrugged. “Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. Lower your weapon and you might find out.”

Lea grit his teeth. He didn’t like the vibes this guy was giving off. This could be a trap, or a misdirection. But if there was even a chance that this encounter would bring them closer to bringing Sora home…

He thought of Kairi’s tears, in the quiet moments between her and Riku’s frantic trips to other worlds as they talked to Sora’s friends and scoured the tomes of lore that hid in magic realms. Of Roxas, who would stop suddenly in the middle of what he was doing and grab his chest, expression pained; more than once he’d vaulted awake from a nightmare yelling Sora’s name, but unable to remember anything that he’d dreamed.

And Lea thought of Sora himself, that spunky kid who’d grown into a true hero, who’d saved the worlds multiple times and -- most importantly -- everything that was important in Lea’s world. Lea owed it to Sora, and his other friends, to at least explore this possibility.

So, reluctantly, Lea dismissed his chakram. “Alright. Tell me what you know.”

Though he couldn’t see it, Lea would have sworn he could tell when the figure, beneath his hood, began to smile.

“Oh, I am so glad you asked…”

My Hero Academia Civil War

 I’m hurting so much over the Chapters 319 and 320 of My Hero Academia! Just the titles alone! “Friends” and “Deky vs. Class 1-A”!

And like, everyone telling Deku how much he means to them and reminding him about all the things he’s done for them? While trying to restrain him? Ugh! And like I thought Deku was just gonna rampage against them but actually he thanks them all for coming because he knows why they’re doing it for him! This class is amazing!!!!

I think this exchange exemplifies it the best:

Deku: “You can stop caring about me! Stop following me!”

Kaminari: “Hell no!...OFA is important, but right now there’s something even more important! We have no hobbies in common but you’re still my friend! So I will force you to do it [come back home]!”

KH3 Mini Reaction

I'm a little late to the party, but I finished Kingdom Hearts 3 last night! I'm not much of a gamer, I just wanted to finish the story. Lot of nostalgia about my love for Disney and playing the series with my brother and cousins when we were younger. Also, I obviously wanted to see what happened with Roxas, Xion, and Naminé.

So I expected I would beat it, and everyone would be safe and the story would be wrapped up and everything is good.

Right?

Wrong.

And I am not okay with that. If I have to pretend that EVERYONE was real and safe and whole and there at that beach party ending (which was super cute and sweet except for obvious reasons) then by that heart-shaped moon, I will.

Prodigal Devil

So I’ve wanted Ella Lopez from Lucifer and Malcolm Bright from Prodigal Son to interact since Lucifer Season 4 introduced Ella’s secret serial killer boyfriend, because I feel like they could bond and help each other. And with Season 5 hinting at Ella’s “darkness” that Malcolm and his sister Ainsley deal with too, I want a crossover even more now!

I've been thinking about the new season of Lucifer. First, I'm so happy we got to see Azrael again, even if it was for like, five seconds. Also we got more angels, which is something I've always wanted (I really liked Zadkiel. Tall, dark haired guy with a strong moral code? That's exactly my type! Still mad Remy was killed though).

Second, all I want for the next season is an episode focused on Dan in Hell that's like:

Dan: Okay, I know I died, and I'm pretty sure I'm in Hell, but still I have to be positive. I'm in Hell, things can't get worse, right?

Mazikeen, kicking the door open: Daaaaan! Guess who has been promoted to new queen of Hell! :D

Dan: ... Fuck.

So, I just found out there is going to be a 6th season of Lucifer and GOOD cause there is a lot of loose ends to tie and a lot of possibilities

First of, I need to see how everyone is going to recover from what happened to Dan, specially Maze and Trixie

I need to see Maze actually becoming the Queen of Hell and how are they going to take Dan out of there

We need to know how the Dan situation and the God situation is going to affect Chloe and Lucifer's relationship

And we need more Michael being chaotic

Idk about yall, but I felt like the final was super rushed. The final battle was not that epic and Lucifer being able to survive getting into Heaven (maybe cause he became God when he "died", maybe) still feels a bit...idk.

There is a lot of questions and not a lot of answers

What's going to happen to Charlie? Will the other Angels just become submissive? What is Lucifer going to do with all that power? Cmon, the dude is amazing but he is super impulsive and unstable

There is a hell lot of possibilities they NEED to explore in season 6 and I'm excited as all hell (pun extremely intended)
