I just read "Thoughtless gods" and I am in tears!
I am sorry but Blizzard has no right making me crying over this hamsters backstory! It is wild changing from following Junkrat to Hammond. Hammond is just filled with rage and revenge, while also being a little poet. Hearing his early childhood memories had me in tears.. it really just makes you feel cruel for being a human.
Anyway great story! I've loved all the stories so far, but was surprised that this one had me the most emotional. This and the one with Bob..

I'll dm the video. Thought it sent in the ask.
Ok, watched the interview and holy shit does it give a lot of context. It gives both a lot of context with how the seasons and mythics are made along with just the lore in general.
So for those who are not willing to watch the interview here are some thinsg that were revealed lore wise;
Lifeweaver is most likely the leader of Vishkar and MW!Vishkar is a military organization, having to goal of healing the world at all costs. It's also confirmed that MW!Lucio would be working for Vishkar.
It was also revealed in this interview that they played with the idea of Symm switching places with Lucio, which leads me to now having the HC that MW!Sym listens to music a lot of the time and especially while she's working.
Baptiste and Sojourn skins are actually not Mirrorwatch skins but are in the firm ground of "they may as well be". Also it is confirmed that no matter the universe, Sojourn would never join Talon, it's also somewhat implied that MW!Baptiste would just be a version of him that never left Talon.
Winston would be a Junker, specifically a Tinker.
MW!Angela is usually called Vengence and has a negative reaction to being called Angela.
Talon and Overwatch's goals as a whole are still the same but idevidually characters goals has changed, an exmple used in the interview was Doomfists morals being changed to a "the strong protect the weak".
It was also confirmed that yes, Soldier 76 would be Talon and Reaper would be Overwatch, but I still stand by my HC that Jack founded Talon and then retired.
Honestly this interview was such a good watch and not just because I'm obsessed with Overwatch lore. It's also because as a creative myself, a creative actively studying to go into this field of work, it was so interesting to hear about OW's art teams creative process. Not only that but to hear that it was similar to my own was fantastic.

Neil Gaimain about writing Good Omens with Terry Pratchett (x)
Neil: His line to me when we were writing “Good Omens”, he would phone me up and he’d say, I’ve just done this and it’s made it 17% funnier. I’d written this whole meeting between the International Express man and Pollution and I’d mentioned that, you know, ‘he and his wife went down there sometimes when they were courting to spoon’ and Terry added the line, ‘and on one memorable occason, fork.’
Rob: On one memorable occasion.
Neil: On one memorable occasion, and it‘s made it 17% better. In fact, in that case it may have made it 100% better.

Can't stop thinking about him
Tumblr media
Alright one thing that I'd like to clear up really fast is that the debate over who Billy's "real" parents are is making me pretty uncomfortable because it shouldn't matter. He's a Kaplan, thats the name he's taken and the name Teddy has taken, and that's how it's going to stay, but his origins as a Maximoff are equally important to him. He doesn't prioritize one family over the other; Children's Crusade is about how he feels like his family is incomplete, not him finding his real one. Maybe it would be different if Wanda had willingly given him up or not wanted kids or Billy hadn't wanted to reconnect but they were not willingly separated from one another and it wasn't Wanda's fault it happened. That being said, if they are retconning the soul migration thing, all that means for me is less of a headache tbh. Heinberg originally wanted them to be adopted but the editorial team made it complicated, and it would also more easily explain why they strongly resemble Wanda/Pietro/Erik and why Billy doesn't have Jeff or Rebecca's coloring. Ending this part with pointing out that as many problems as I have with Gillen's run, one thing I DID like was that Wanda is friends with the Kaplans- there's no rivalry between them or sense that one is more of Billy's parent than the other.
Tommy, obviously, is a different story. We never see Frank and Mary Shepherd but for all intents and purposes they must have been assholes. They send him off to be experimented on and when he gets out he refuses to go back to them. He never talks about them and his experience with the Shepherds leads to him shutting down the possibility of him being related to Billy and Wanda because he can't bring himself to hope that he might actually have been wanted and loved, once. He's terrified that he's going to get hurt again. He listens to theories and helps Billy search but he doesn't fully believe it until Magneto confirms it. He never hesitates to call Wanda Mom and hug her, even though he doesn't do hugs, and that often gets overshadowed by her reunion with Billy.
And shoutout to Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan, again, for taking him in and opening their arms to him. Even if he was never able to settle down or be comfortable there. Even if he never felt like he belonged there and was staying for Billy. The fact that they offered is more than enough. But it's not the same as what we see when he's with Pietro or Erik or Wanda, that level of family and comfort and belonging. And I will call Vision out for being a deadbeat dad but I don't think it's the same with Wanda- she's going through a lot of mental health issues, constantly being guilt tripped by the Avengers and X-Men into getting involved, and the comics talk a little about how much she absolutely adores the twins but is terrified that they'll hate her. But they're both SUCH momma's boys who threatened to kill the Avengers and X-Men (Tommy) and sabotaged an intergalactic peace treaty (Billy) for her. We know she spends time with them but I do think the apparent preference for Billy might be very real in Tommy's eyes, given that they seemingly have more in common to bond over. When magic is involved he immediately excludes himself because he might not know what to do but Billy will. Wanda will. Like it's absolutely a writing issue but there's definitely some canon reasoning for why he'd set himself apart from Billy and Wanda and Vision. Vision reached out to Billy but not Tommy. Wanda has a million things happening and it's probably easier for her to talk to Billy anyway. Billy left him behind to go live in space with Teddy. This is the psyche of a character used primarily as a plot device in a family of main protagonists.
The Hellfire Gala/Trial of Magneto thing was so horrible for him too: he's the one who finds his mother's dead body and gets absolutely traumatized. He keeps vigil by her corpse and can hardly react to the world around him. He only snaps out of it when she gets resurrected and comes back to him and he's just. SO grateful his mom is alright. Then everyone forgets that he was just majorly traumatized because look at the Cool Thing Wanda did. The fact that her death was a suicide planned by herself and Magneto to make said cool thing actually makes it so much more horrifying to me. Would it be better or worse if he knew that? Yeah he's not at the Hellfire Gala this year because he probably keeps seeing his mother's dead body and neither Wanda nor Erik have any hangups about it.
But he keeps coming back to the house in Leonia, not just because of Pandemonium but because that house is the only time he ever felt like he was safe and not alone. He's gone through the trouble of painstakingly restoring it because it used to be a place full of love and he is dedicated to keeping the memory of that love alive. Pandemonium was manipulated and tormented by Mephisto and Tommy recognizes that because he's spent his entire life being manipulated and tormented and he is choosing to show Pandemonium the care and forgiveness he had always wanted from Frank and Mary Shepherd, like he remembers getting from Vision and Wanda Maximoff a lifetime ago.
Billy values the Kaplan name just as much as he values the Maximoff name but this is not the case for his twin, where Paradox Lost 5 drives home the point that Tommy only really felt loved and safe in a family when he was a child living with Wanda, Billy, and Vision. All the focus is always on Billy but I miss the twin teamups. I loved when he third wheeled for Billy and Teddy. I miss when he was the favorite grandchild and Erik said Tommy reminds him of himself and I hate we never really get to see Tommy live up to that afterward. I love his relationship with Jean-Paul but God I miss Tommy and Pietro together. Make Vision pay child support. I want to see with my own eyes all of the Wanda-Tommy bonding they've clearly had both with and without Billy.

All New X-Factor hit us with one of the biggest hot takes regarding Quicksilver and that's that the Avengers couldn't give two fucks about him
Tumblr media
Like I can't even, 'your sister loves you' Pietro was literally on the 2nd ever roster of Avengers and the only value they see in him as a person is his relation to Wanda. And?? This is how like the majority of comic writers also treat him like hello he deserves better!!!

Wild how Magneto has three living kids (rip Anya) and they've all had the "so glad we're siblings, it's rough sometimes but we love each other" moments. Meanwhile Professor X has three kids and they've never even met.
