We all know that Deadpool loves to use nicknames and petnames for Spider-Man

But Peter doesn't have many (if any) for Wade

And he feels bad about it

Because Wade is so open with his love for Peter and he lets Peter know just how much he loves him, but Peter feels like he doesn't do the same

And at some point he tells Wade how he feels and how sorry he is

And Wade is all confused like 'wdym you don't show your love? ofc you do'

Because Wade hears the different ways Peter says his name, there's the way he used to say 'Deadpool' when he was annoyed, there's the annoyed-but-not-really way he says 'Wade', the excited 'Wade!' when he sees him after a long day, the soft 'Wade' that he only says when they're close, and Wade could go on and on for hours about the different ways Peter says his name

The point is, he can hear the affection in his voice and that is just as good as a ridiculous amount of petnames for him

It's also the lingering touches, or how Peter always seeks Wade out over other people, how he always actually listens to Wade when he speaks about nothing in particular

And Peter hadn't realised how much love he showed until Wade listed all the ways he made him feel special and safe and heard and wanted

Does anyone else ever think about what the trauma from 'alone' (MWII) would've looked like for Soap and Ghost?

I think they'd keep a channel open for each other, just so they can check in with each other and make sure they're all right

And it becomes a rule that if one of them asks for a response on the private channel then the other person has to answer

To make sure that they're alive

And they never really talk about why it's so important that they have this way of communication, they just both mutually agree that it's needed

Spider-Man stays when Deadpool dies

In fights with the Avengers, more often than not, Deadpool ends up dying

The Avengers clear out after they've won and leave Deadpool, saying that he'll be fine and on his feet again soon, but Spider-Man stays

He sits by the body and watches him heal

He makes sure that Deadpool is alright

Sometimes he holds his hand to feel the warmth return or rests a hand over his neck or wrist and waits for his pulse to come back

The initial idea: Deadpool listens to cheesy love songs on speaker (in both his and Spidey's apartments) for context I'm listening Heaven Tonight by HIM He puts it on speaker and sings loudly like it's a ballad and does air guitar and it ends with him and Peter dancing around the kitchen

Peter hauls himself through the open bedroom window to his apartment and tumbles onto the bed

He's just come back from an evening patrol, alone this time, and while it was mostly uneventful (a couple robberies and a cat in a tree), it was almost 3am and he was both tired and hungry

Tugging the mask off and shaking out his hair, he begins making his way to the kitchen and grabs a black hoodie from the back of the desk chair then pulls it over his head

As he approaches the door, he can hear the hum of music coming from the kitchen. A soft smile creeps its way onto his face

The hum becomes more distinct words the further down the hall he gets

He turns the corner into the kitchen and Wade is there. Peter expected nothing else, it's not like anyone else he knows would break into his apartment, bring their own speaker, and make themselves at home in the middle of the night

He's singing along to the song under his breath and faces the opposing counter, away from Peter

And you're my haven in life And you're my haven in death, Baby Life and Death my Darling

Wade appears to be baking something, judging by the smell. Peter can identify the smell of both burning and of homemade cake. Plus, the kitchen is an absolute mess.

There are pans and bowls and spatulas (Peter didn't think he had more than one) all over the counter and, because Wade had run out of space, there are trays and plates on the floor too. One of the bigger plates has a stack of four cake sponges on it, held together by white icing and two more cakes sit on plates next to it.

The cakes are all different colours but they're all slightly muddy, if you give it the benefit of the doubt, a couple look green, there's a really dark one, a slightly less dark one, and two that look red

Peter smiles properly and sits on a stool next to a precarious stack of pans

Wade turns around from the opposite counter, leaving the bowl of icing he was mixing there and full on beams at Peter

He's wearing some dark grey sweatpants and a tacky Spider-Man t-shirt with a slightly inaccurate Spider-Man logo that he got to piss Peter off, it's now covered with a dusting of flour

"Webs! You're back!"

"Yeah, just got in, you're baking?"

There's no point in addressing why Wade is in his kitchen, it happens often enough that its not surprising anymore, and Peter should really know better. He leaves the window open most nights, someone is bound to break in. Granted, he was thinking more like a robber but a Deadpool is much preferred

"Yes, look!"

He brings the stack of cake from the floor, swaps it with a mostly empty bowl on the counter and nudges the sponges into a neater stack before stepping back

"I'm making a rainbow cake! It's actually surprisingly hard to get colours right when you're baking them, I made chocolate cake but that makes everything brown so it's not one hundred percent colour accurate"

Wade rubs a hand over the back of his neck

"They're great, Wade" Peter says, because they are. The colours are a little muted but that's the only issue. They smell amazing and they rose evenly so they stack well, he's about to say as much when Wade interrupts his train of thought

I'm in love with~

"Hold on, this is the chorus, it's the best part-"

He cuts himself off as the drum kicks in

You are my heaven tonight

Wade puts a hand over his heart dramatically as he sings and Peter ducks his head to hide his laughter

(I'm in love with you)

Wade turns his head away dramatically for that part, then turns back to Peter as the chorus repeats the lyrics

He reaches out a hand over the counter, closing it into a fist at the 'I'm in love with you' and he's laughing with Peter too

The chorus repeats that like three more times and Wade sings along to it all, then the song dies down again, going back to the piano, and Wade walks around the counter to the open space in front of the sofa. He motions for Peter to join him, but Peter shakes his head. 'Coward', Wade mouths, so Peter lets him drag him forward by his hands because that's just rude.

The drum and guitar come back as the chorus repeats again. Wade sings with the music as he dances them back and forth, both of them are trying not to laugh and doing a terrible job at it

Peter joins in near the end of the song and it becomes both of them singing as they dance around the carpet

That's right (I'm in love with you) That's right (I'm in love with you)

Peter's heart feels like it's going to expand out of his chest. The moment is so unbelievably domestic it's hard to wraps his head around. Wade is smiling at him and he looks so unapologetically happy and Peter wants him to stay like this forever

The song begins to fade out and they drift closer together, swaying in time with the music

Peter has a giddy grin on his face and he rests their foreheads together. They're both singing the repeating lyrics at each other, Wade repeats 'I'm in love with you' and Peter responds with 'That's right' over and over like call and response.

It's so stupidly cheesy and sappy and rom-com and everything like that but it feels great and Peter doesn't ever want it any other way

Later, they eat Wade's rainbow cake on the sofa (which is delicious, by the way) and Wade puts on some rom-com movie.

Peter doesn't really watch the movie, he's half asleep sprawled over Wade while he watches and absent mindedly combs his fingers through Peter's hair

He falls asleep there, content and calm and happy

When they first meet, Deadpool is on a job and, because of course, there are guns

Spidey hears gunfire and goes to check it out

Deadpool wanted it to be a quiet job but now it's a gunfight and now Spidey just swings in all prepared to fight the bad guys (maybe it's the tracksuit mafia idk) and a gun goes off

Deadpool is unaware that the guy in spandex who brought his fists to a gun fight will be mostly fine when the bullet hits, so he takes the shot for him and the bullet stays lodged in the meat of his shoulder for about a minute until the healing flesh pushes it out

Of course he is totally fine, but neither of them talk about it and Deadpool gets out fast after the fight is over

They meet again and, again, Deadpool takes a bullet. This time it kills him, but he comes back because he's Deadpool

Normally Deadpool would be annoyed at dying, but he saved Spider-Man, therefore it's worth it

Deadpool still doesn't know

This happens like four more times and neither think anything of it

Spidey doesn't think too hard about it, he thinks Deadpool is just being nice, or maybe he likes it, it's Deadpool - who knows what's going through his head

Then one day, Spider-Man is fighting Electro when Deadpool finds him

They're both used to minor team-ups by now and Spidey welcomes the help

They back Electro into a corner and he lashes out, shocking Spidey badly

He smells of burning flesh and there's smoke rising off him

Spider-Man collapses, but he's just knocked out, already healing, he'll be back up in a few minutes but Deadpool doesn't know that

Deadpool sees Spider-Man fall to the floor and he smells the burning and he assumes

Deadpool has no reason to believe that Spidey would have survived that

Naturally, Deadpool gets angry

A sort of delirious, panicked anger that is a reaction to seeing the man who accepted his presence without question, who didn't shout or scream or tell him to get the fuck away, die right next to him

Deadpool rounds on Electro and shoots him in the thigh, which doesn't do much to an entity made of electricity, but it distracts him enough to let Deadpool get close and try and beat him to a pulp

He ignores the pain as Electro tries to shock him off, he keeps punching him in the face and takes the steady stream of pure electricity coursing through his veins until Electro tires

Deadpool keeps going, he's fully prepared to break the 'no killing' rule he has when he's with Spider-Man because Spider-Man is dead so why does it matter

He might be screaming or crying or stoic silent in his attack, he doesn't notice. He focuses on the gross squelch of skin being hit by his bloodied, gloved fists over and over and over again

Spider-Man stirs on the floor behind him and Deadpool doesn't notice. He pushes himself up and sees Deadpool punching Electro into the wall silently, and tries to call out to get Deadpool to stop, but his voice doesn't work right and it comes out as a croak. Deadpool doesn't notice

Spider-Man gets up and fixes his mask, then calls out again and his voice works but Deadpool either doesn't notice or doesn't care

Spidey is concerned now, for both Deadpool and Electro, and he rushes up and pulls Deadpool away

Deadpool looks like he's been snapped out of a trance and stares at Spider-Man like he's just come back from the dead

Electro crumples to the ground

They're both confused and neither paying attention to Electro now

Deadpool can't believe what he's seeing. He's sure its some hallucination but it felt so real. No Hallucination has been able to touch him before. He takes a tentative step forward and reaches out to touch him, just to make sure he's real, and sees the bloodied glove

He doesn't want to get that on friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man's suit so takes it off and holds it. Spidey doesn't even bat an eye at the scarred skin underneath

Deadpool reaches out and pokes Spider-Man in the arm

He's real

"What?"

"I thought- didn't you just die?"

"No..."

"But- wait, what? How the hell did you survive that, you burned up and collapsed and looked very, very dead"

"Deadpool... I heal. Did you not know?"

"NO? HOW WAS I MEAN TO KNOW THAT!"

"I don't know?? I thought you just did? Why else would I throw myself into all these fights?"

"I thought you were an adrenaline junkie or something like that"

"No, I fight because I can, others will get hurt, I wont"

"I've been jumping into bullets for you and you're saying that you would have been fine???"

"Mostly, yeah"

"Don't die again, then, it does horrible things for my anxiety"

"I'll try my best"

"Yeah you better"

Spider-Man calls an ambulance for Electro and neither of them talk about why Deadpool went slightly crazy at the thought of Spider-Man dead on the floor

Deadpool can't stay mad for longer than five minutes, he's too glad that Spider-Man is no longer dead

And if Deadpool still takes bullets and jumps in front if hits meant for Spidey then he doesn't acknowledge it

So in Plato's Phaedrus, he goes on about the soul being two horses and the charioteer and stuff but my point is about the part when he says that when someone sees a 'godlike face' or someone who they think is the image of beauty then they revere them like they were a god and their soul starts to grow wings.

And if they are without the person they love then their soul growing wings is painful but as soon as they see the person they love the pain is soothed.
