So I just read another fanfic in which french wasn't correctly used, and my french ears couldn't bear it anymore. I understand not everyone speaks it or understands the grammar (even we don't sometimes), but it's that kind of thing that disturbs me while reading. So I decided to list some error i see regularly so you dont make them again, I'll update this post if I remember or need to explain certain things (it's 1am where i am so im tired as hell) :

- before using a term of endearment like love or darling, you have to say that it belongs to you, so you say my love (mon amour) my darling (mon chéri/ma chérie (masc/fem)) We use the pronouns to mark the endearment. It's like saying "you belong to me" . Also my dove cannot be translated literally because signe also means sign so it could be misunderstood (unless you play with words). Here are some terms of endearment used frequently: mon amour, ma chérie, ma puce, mon bébé, mon chou

- Look up for french names. Do not trust your guts. No one in France is called Vanilla. Also, some names are androgynous like Sacha, Alex, Gaël(le), gabriel(le), camille

- do not try to use past time if you translate from English. In french you would use much more passé composé when talking and the time of the verb could change in between imparfait and passé simple in writing, depending on many criterias

- not every english saying can be translated and sometimes french people use sayings/expressions when english speakers don't.

After saying all of that, if someone needs to translate something, I suggest you search on Word reference for vocabulary and do not use google translate. You can always ask me if needed I'm open to translating in french ...

I'm not a huge fan of billy (I like jill more than him) but I completely disagree with this person's opinion. but I think they will both have equal parts.
