So I've been doing this thing where I procrastinate on my assignments by doing pictures for a kanji club I go to (everyone presents at least one kanji each once a fortnight and I like 'adding' things to my slides). And this week the Kanji was 鷲 or Eagle~

「鷲は鳥の王者とされることから、王者の象徴として、」

"The eagle is considered the king of birds, and is therefore a symbol of royalty,"

Heh.

(Translation: "What is my awesome self's name? It's EAGLE ya know!!" - "Actually... I am a symbol of ROYALTY!!" and yes. I know Japanese doesn't exactly have capital letters to imply emphasis, but if it did, I'd absolutely be using them)

#I know this is really random.#but I wished to share the chaos #and I rather like this week's one.#I feel that I have made it sufficiently memorable #HEH #eagle #kanji club #procrastinating #:/#i mean.#if im procrastinating #i might as well make something out of it #ya know?#i've already done illustrated linguistics notes on 'alignment' and SAP stuff (ergative absolutive nominative accusative etc etc.)#so thats totally a step towards finishing my report... (said report is due in just over 48 hours-)#right?#*laughs nervously*#funny how now that i've actually finished my japanese of the semester the idea of studying it is that much more appealing #which is part of why i did this #but yeah.#gotta do a linguistics report~ woohoo~#part of me kinda wishes I could write a report on elvish or smth tbh. but I doubt my lecturer would be up for that somehow~ 😂#eh. the languages were pre-assigned so ah well.#if japanese had been on the list i totally would have picked it #sigh~#nvm #pretty sure part of the point of the assignment is that we have to research a language we don't already know #so none of the ones available were exactly 'common'#ah well #next time i guess

Got into Witch Hat Atelier last year sometime and yesterday finally got around to drawing Qifrey. And we've got some pictures of Coco too :D

(I'd forgotten my pencil so this was just inked straight without sketching first which is not what I typically do, but I don't think it went tooooooo badly...)

My favourite is definitely the top right one of Qifrey. I was using the manga for reference (hanging out at the public library with a friend so there were books right there), and I really like how it turned out tbh.

I know I could do better yknow?#But it is kind of fun to not be as fernickety about it and just go for it #So for doodling or loose sketching I'd say it's a pretty cool option #But for the stuff I wanna get really detailed with? Another weekend where I won't actually be having a break :/#*sigh~#Anyway on a more cheerful note #In case you're wondering who the little girl with the fluffy hat and winter outfit is #She is a very smol character I made up a year or so ago and she walks around in the snow with her little arctic fox friend #And they have lots of fluffy adventures :3 #(I like drawing cozy things when I'm tired and drawing a tiny lil girl wrapped up in fuzz was the most comforting thing I could think of :3

I have finished The Angst Version™~ (of chapter 50 of The Harrowing by @chthonion >:D) The bonus chapter added some stuff/re-inspired me, which is all to the good imo~ gotta get that Maximum Angst Factor AMMIRIGHT?? >:D (also. Mostly paraphrasing stuff just so you're aware~)

Then we got some of the conversation~ (without dialogue, 'cause a picture tells a thousand words~ >:D)

Then a sketch that was completely inspired by the bonus chapter-

It's not as 'polished' as the other ones, I just had thoughts about that tidbit and decided I absolutely had to mention it- so it got a drawing to match. :D

And finally, because I don't want to end this on too depressing a note-

I'm not crying, you are.

My personal favourites include Extra Angry Maedhros + hands over the face Annatar, - then- actually. y'know what? I can't pick favourites. I like them all too much to do that. But that was the 'segment' that I experimented on - to try and convey the emotions through how chaotic/forceful the lines were, and it worked exactly how I wanted it to. Which is very satisfying.

(also, I don't think Maedhros was quite that visibly angry in the actual chapter, but it's supposed to be a mix of that plus Annatar's perception of him/what made Annatar panic. Make of that what you will. Eheh. Eheh. Eheh. >:D)

I can still kinda feel it 😂)#though typically once I realise I'm doing it then I will exaggerate it so I can 'feel' the pose I'm trying to draw #I really like the 'dripping' effect I did on maedhros tbh #it was kind of a last minute 'I have space that needs filling' decision #and it worked better than I thought it would #Finished all of these (apart from the first two) today #cause I know myself well enough to know I would get majorly distracted if I didn't.#And I have a LOT of assignments to get through this week 😅#(this was kind of procrastinating but like. Look guys! It's Menolly! (and Beauty) :D:D:D Been re-reading some Anne McCaffrey books. Dragonsong was the first Pern related book I read (wasn't allowed to read the 'grownup' ones till I was 15), and since my other favourite book at the was 'My side of the mountain' (running away from home and living in the forest kinda thing), Dragonsong had me hooked. But it's been a while so coming back to it after a few years was pretty cool.

Heading back to uni after a one-week break~ kinda wish they gave us more than that but ah well~ everything's getting colder (winter is drawing ever closer *shivers), which is fine.

But having caught a cold is not increasing my enthusiasm.

Autumn is still my favourite season though. Went chestnut and walnut hunting earlier this week which was fun :D got a lot of both, but most of the blackberries were past it sadly~ :/

Edit: for context, this is a re-imagining of chapter 50 Annatar being like "Look. Maedhros. I know it might feel like it's only you making an effort to atm, but you aren't the only one trying to change round here, y'know?"

I didn't come up with this, but as I was reading through the comments on Chapter 50 of The Harrowing, I saw one that absolutely needed to be brought to life with appropriate visuals~ (took me like five days before I had any spare time, but it's here now >:D)
