Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and arguments. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change.

Self-love
Self-love is the most overlooked ingredient to one’s happiness. It is often confused with self-care. While self-care practices can conduce to some degree of self-love, they are not self-love in themselves. Self-love is taking care of one’s needs. It is loving oneself enough for taking care of its own needs rather than expecting someone or something else to do it for us. More specifically, it is living according to one’s soul’s needs. It involves cultivating the universal qualities of love, acceptance, compassion, tolerance, forgiveness and generosity for oneself and others, as well as your individual soul specific needs which can be creative expression, practice of gratitude, connecting with your heart, connecting with nature, connecting with your body and emotions, etc.

How to stop feeling like you don't have enough time: The stress that builds as we grip time separates us from the present moment. Instead of living our lives, we're spending time all right, but not on the things that create joy or move our lives forward. Instead, we spend time on the very things we want to escape from: stress, doubt, fear and worry. Or we do things because we feel obligated and not because we want to. The answer isn't to do more, but to do less. To invest time instead of spend it.

It's Day 3 of the chewing challenge already, so I thought to give a little update of my experience so far. It's hard!!!! It's so hard to change an habit to eat fast! For several meals I didn't even remember the challenge until mid-way through the meal. My monkey mind is so easily caught up by the chatter that I often forget easily to chew properly. I find it especially hard when I'm hungry as it requires to slow down. When I'm hungry I want the food to go as fast as possible in my belly and chewing until the food is liquid means slower pace of eat. I also find it hard when I eat in social settings with my husband, friends or colleagues. Since I tend to speak or being in conversation, I'm not as mindful of my chewing. But overall I LOVE IT!!! It really helps bringing more mindfulness into eating habits but also my day in general. It helps slowing down and appreciate/ savour the food better. Also it helps being more attuned to my body, the different tastes in my mouth and how I react to the food. Plus I'm more aware of when I'm full, which helps stop overeating. I highly recommend it!

Another old yoga journal, another lesson about eating slowly and savouring.

So I found this stack of old yoga journals and decided to read through them before throwing them and found some cool wisdom.
I like very much the idea of savouring my food but I find it so hard to change my fast eating habit and the monkey mind craziness which prevents me to be present while eating. So I’ll try to apply these 3 handy tips:
1) slow down: before eating, take a moment to appreciate the food, how it looks and smells
2) Notice: Paying attention to what happens in the first bite and in between the first, second and third. Is the pleasure the same? The pleasure per bite typically drops off. The first few bites of a dessert can give plenty of satisfaction
3) Choose well: if you feel neutral about a certain food, skip it and save the calories for something you really enjoy.
