On Lilly Bushnell

So I know I am a haha-funny linguistics blog but I heard some discourse that I have an opinion on so I'm going in.

On Activism

A lot of people are looking into Bushnell's actions and arguing back and forth on the effectiveness of her activism as the reason for its legitimacy. I would argue that this is missing the point. The truth is that doing something is better than doing nothing and people who attempt to maximize their effectiveness will probably never do anything. She is good because she picked a reasonably good thing to do and did it. The people arguing about this most likely didn't do anything because they are too busy trying to find the best thing to do instead of just doing something.

On Queer People

One of the widely-believed narratives about queer people is that we are all privileged California liberals who live in coffee shops. This belief is widely espoused on the right but is also prevalent on the left especially among anti-imperialists. While the right believes that queer people are out-of-touch assholes with no real problems who stop them from having jobs over menial bullshit (and will say all of this out loud) the left believes that queer people in the west all work for Raytheon and unironically think that bombing the Levant will cause gay marriages in the middle east (and don't know they believe this). As a result they believe that the oppression of queer people is some lesser type of oppression and therefore the only real sides in oppression are empire vs third world and because some queer people live in the west they must agree and work for the empire. That's why they are hysterical about the idea of Bushnell being queer. If Hamas, the PFLP, and the Houthis are supporting a queer person then their worldview comes crumbling down.

I’m just finding out that Aaron Bushnell commented on a Reddit thread about transitioning in the Air Force expressing that she wished she was as strong and that it looks like the name she chose was Lilly. Not only did we lose someone fighting for a free Palestine, the trans community also lost ANOTHER sister. May you rest easy, Lilly.

Lilly knew exactly how dangerous Elbit Systems are, and she tried to spread awareness that we must Shut Elbit Down at all costs.

Prolekult went to see the Palestine Action occupation of UAV Tactical Systems, owned by Elbit Systems - Israel's largest arms firm on 1 May, 2023. Elbit provides 85% of Israel’s military drone fleet, many of which are armed.
