Chapter Update! - Ch. 18 Hell Finds You Everywhere

“H-hades. Sir.” His opponent stammered as he held out his fists to tap, the standard pre-round bullshit. “I-I mean no disrespect. I–nobody knew you were fighting tonight.”  “Then let’s give these sorry fuckers a show, yeah?” He banged his fists on top of the other man's, reveling in his poorly concealed wince. “Make me bleed and you get to walk out of here with the breath in your lungs and cash in your pocket. Throw the fight and I’ll gut you right here in the middle of the ring. Got it?”  Sterling backed away before he could respond, rolling his shoulders and breathing through the wave of pain that sent spots dancing in his vision. It had been too long since he had been forced to push through pain like this. He reached for that icy pit at the center of himself and felt the chill settle over him like a worn hoodie. Every extra sensation dimmed, the roar of the crowd, the sour scent of sweat, and the annoying throb of pain in his shoulder all fading to the background. Sterling’s vision sharpened, locking in on his opponent, observing the fine tremble of his limbs, the fluttering of his pulse at the base of his neck.  The clarion sound of the bell sent adrenaline racing through his bloodstream. Showtime.

Abbi meets him with a lazy grin and takes a long sip from her straw. An answer follows a quick sour face. “Jager Bomb,” she says with a little cough.

“Jager bomb is a shot, Abbi,” Seb sighs.

“Duh!” She snaps back, pointing at the side of her large, handled container, dragging her finger up halfway. “See? Jager.” She says, exemplary, dragging her finger up the rest of the way.

“Bomb.”

Sebastian groans, pinching the bridge of his nose. He just knows he’s gonna be carrying her home later. “You need help.”

Abbi throws her arms around his neck as he eyes Sam, who still seems utterly entrenched by the little colorful fish swimming in circles in their tupperware coffins.

“Then help me,” she murmurs, pressing her body into Sebastian’s.

Wip Wednesday Friday!!!

It's not Wednesday anymore, but I'm awake and writing (for the first time in a week) at 3am so let's go. Thanks for the tag, @eemamminy-art!

My brain has been almost completely occupied by bits and pieces of what will hopefully be my upcoming longfic, which is an AU for Nico and Sebastian. Well, this wip is a non-canon alternate timeline of that au. Embrace the madness, I guess. Anyway, enjoy some more angst.

Sebastian stared sheepishly up at Nico, watching as he slipped back into his sweatpants. "Will you just lay with me a while?" he asked softly. When there was no immediate response, he tacked on in a half-whisper, "Please?"

Nico did not meet his ex's gaze, nor did he break the silence that had settled between them. He continued dressing, tugging on a fresh t-shirt from his dresser. Entirely too many clothes for him to sleep in comfortably, but right now they felt like the only protective barrier he had. After a moment he climbed back into bed, lying on his back halfway under the top sheet, and closed his eyes.

Sebastian hesitantly shifted to lay his head on Nico's chest. A small smile twitched at the corners of his lips when he felt a strong arm curl around his back, but he quickly suppressed it, not yet willing to allow himself a taste of hope.

Fun Fact about yourself? I have a degree in English Literature and I aced my final on Great Expectations without reading the book, just thanks to the South Park parody. That was 15 years ago and I still haven't read it.

How long have you been writing fanfiction? Started writing fanfiction about 20 years ago, then stopped for years before restarting last year because of SDV

Favourite SDV character to write? Shane.....

Favourite tropes/genre to write? Mutual pining comes to mind, but I do love fluff, hurt/comfort, and obviously smut.

Your most popular SDV fanfic? Kudo wise? It would be What a Glorious Day, a silly ShanexReader which was my very first fanfic for SDV EVER. I think people enjoy the joke at the end, which is the very reason this one shot exists in the first place... But recently I've been getting a lot of traction, feedback, and conversation around my ongoing fic Unsettled Dust of the Valley (Last chapter planned for 08/06!) Shameless promo hehe.

Your SDV underdog fic you wish more people would give a chance? Kent's Return. I do enjoy reading Hurt/No Comfort but I have no real confidence in how I write it. Yet this one kinda hit the spot!

Hear me out: I like that Shane still drinks after his 6 hearts event, I like that his spouse room is messy and STAYS messy. It's realistic, it makes me feel good. You don't quit drinking and the next day your house smells of lemon and lavender y'know. Also him being a slob isn't inherently related to his drinking so yeah if he wants to burp in my face, say I smell like smoked meat and that he discovered a new specie of fungus behind his fridge? Go off my king, go right off, I'm nibbling on pizza rolls as we speak.

Lastly, any other fandoms you write for? I used to write for Lord of the Rings, W.I.T.C.H and....Super Smash Bros, but I lost this superb Captain FalconxGanondorf one shot I'm afraid.
