Do you sleep naked? Personally, in my before-baby days I definitely did opt to wear as little clothing as possible in the house and even go skinny-sleeping every now and again. The feeling was very liberating and actually gave me MORE confidence in a way, an unexpected sense of self. It brought on this notion of being daring, free and totally excepting of my body... And of course a sexier experience for my hubby and I.  😉 Now I'm a new momma, and that came with great sacrifice. I found myself having to choose between waking up every 2 hrs at night when baby is sleeping in the crib, OR letting baby sleep in the bed with us and get an extra hr or 2 (because of course he sleeps longer that way). I chose sleep!! But that meant another sacrifice, having to get used to covering up and no more naked sleeps.. A fair trade for waking up to his adorable face everyday. For those who do still skinny-sleep or have ever wondered about it, did you know there are actual health benefits associated with this practice? Here are 5 of them: 1. According to a WomensHealth.com article, "You Should Definitely Be Sleeping Naked—And This Is Why You'll score TONS of health benefits" By Valeria Nekhim Lease and Maggie Parker, the #1 benefit is that you'll fall asleep faster. Apparently, by sleeping without clothing, your body temperature can get get cooler easier and faster. The amount of time it takes for you to fall asleep from totally awake to snooze is called your SOL, or your "Sleep Onset Latency". This has a 'direct impact on your sleep satisfication'. Lowering your body temperature signals your body to prepare for sleep and shortens your SOL. 2. Psychologytoday.com's article, "Why You Should Be Sleeping in the Nude" by Michael J Breus Ph.D. explains that nude sleeping with your partner could improve your relationship. Skin to skin contact promotes Oxytocin release, aka the "Love Drug". It produces feelings of 'trust, ease and stability between partners.' It causes you to cuddle closer to keep each other warm. It also causes you to be more sensitive to each other's emotions, reduces stress levels, and may increase long-term attraction in your relationship. 3. Hannah Smothers shares in this Cosmopolitan article, "8 Reasons You Should Sleep Naked", that ditching your undies overnight is an excellent idea for your vaginal health. More often than not, our undies provide a suffocating environment for our hoo-has. When our vaginas aren't exposed to enough oxygen they get too warm and too moist for too long and can be breeding ground for bad bacteria, causing bacterial infections and odor. 4. In the same article, Hannah explains that nude sleeping has anti-aging beauty benefits. As body temperatures lower, 'growth hormone is released' and begins a regenerative process, keeping skin younger and hair shiny. 5. In a Forbes.com article, Travis Bradberry touches on the fact that sleeping naked makes you wealthier! It builds self esteem and confidence, encouraging you to take on tasks and face new challenges!
