(OOC) Hi guys
I've been pretty busy and had some mental health problems irl, also lost interest for a bit so haven't been active here. I'll probably pick this back up, and pretend in character I've only been gone a week. Sorry I haven't been very active!

Fidough Facts
In honor of the new fidough I just caught, here are 10 fidough Facts!
Tumblr media
1. Fidough have been bred for as long as humans have had dog pokemon. Originally bred to herd cattle and keep humans warm, fidough gained its appearance because people wants them to be more flexible incase they fell into holes or got stepped on, and to have something comforting to hug.
2. Their dough-like bodies gives them a good resistance to heat.
3. When fidough first hatch, they are incredibly soft and squishy. They harden out by their mother's warmth dachbuns warmth (it's best not to breed fidough because their height and immaturity is a danger to them when it comes to laying eggs and raising young).
4. A bunch of old legends state of fidough being the go-to ride pokemon for fairies
5. Because they were bred so you could cuddle up to them, they often don't mind physical affection. Hugging them is a great stress reliever
Tumblr media
6. Fidough were common in Kalos until a revolution, where they were all killed off because they were eating "too much bread" during Kalos's starving times.
7. In ancient times, a litter of newborn fidough puppies were seen as good luck.
8. While all dog pokemon have a common ancestor, fidough, swirlix, and yamper are the closest in the evolutionary tree
9. Because of their closed ears, fidough's hearing aren't that great. To make up for this, they have an amazing sense of smell. They were often used as "poisons sniffers" in ancient Paldea.
10. The fat on their neck is so their mothers can pick them up to carry them, meaning it won't hurt when grabbed. It gets smaller when they're close to evolution.

@minerva-is-a-robot All canine pokemon are related in some way. But while that's true, they can develop traits away from other pokedog breeds. In this instance, fidough aren't that much related to houndour as they are to swirlix or yamper. It's most likely convergant evolution.

Your opinions about veluza and squakabilly are bad.
Veluza and Squakabilly are literally the best pokemon in existence and if you disagree you are wrong.
Veluza saved me in my darkest hour, despite being weak to dark types.
I pity you for hating such amazing pokemon, and you need to see how truly beautiful and amazing Veluza and Squakabilly are.
I pity you for needing to be saved by the objectively worst pokemon ever.
How awful were things that you somehow convinced yourself that those torpedoes disguised as pokemon were good? Did they use whatever gave them their Psychic typing to brainwash you into thinking they cared about anything other than charging into the back of unsuspecting trainers just trying to have a good time by the water? They're like those infamous Sharpedo that roam the seas around the isle of armor but worse. The second you dip your toes in the wrong pond they're on you, and you can say goodbye to those toes. Trying to take photos from the middle of the lake on your pokemon? Not in front of a veluza! They'll rush you and try to turn your pokemon into those gross fillets they shed off themselves. You can try and run, but they won't stop until you spend a stupid amount of time knocking them all out and by the time that's done the sun has moved and the lighting's all off and your perfect Dratini photo is ruined.
I also pity you because you clearly haven't been out into Paldea in a long while. You've clearly never experienced the joys of camping out in the wilderness, falling asleep wrapped up nice and cozy in your sleeping bag, your pokemon all snuggled around you. Until suddenly it's 5am and you're rudely awoken by the most obnoxious squawking you've ever heard because someone wanted to take a taxi nearby. The only reason they're running the taxi service is because they're too weak for Tinkaton to care about attacking them. Literally the only thing they have going for them is their stupid colour variants, and even then that just means that whenever you're within a million miles of a squawkabilly trainer then you can hear four times the squawking. I stayed at a Chatot owner's house once and their house was so much quieter than a Squawkabilly. It's loud, it's annoying and any good things about it can be found much better with other pokemon.

What's a really interesting yet niche biology fact about magikarp?
Magikarp have more tastebuds per square inch of barbel than we have per entire tongue, and their tastebuds are receptive to more chemicals than the tastebuds of the human tongue!

Why is Gwngar poison type?
The most commonly accepted theory is that (as a species) they evolved from deep underground cave dwelling ghost types. As gastly is a gaseous pokemon, and haunter/gengar are semi-gaseous, their bodies are evolved to contain some of the same gases found deep underground. They use it for hunting prey, and to help form their bodies. It's typically a mix of some poisonous, and some not.
Carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide are examples of poisonous gases that can be found in healthy adult gengar. Methane can also be found in gengar, though it's not poisonous. Depending on their prey of choice, they can switch between poisoning it or choking it. Trainers do not need to worry though, their outer layer of fur/skin separates the gases from people, so they will not poison you if you hug them.
Support for the evolution part of this theory include some bones similar to modern day haunter found in caves over 2,000 ft deep. While ghost types can be especially hard to find fossils of, haunter/gengar have some very basic bone/muscle structure along with the natural gases their bodies are made of.
And support for the gas portion is that they just literally tested the gengar line to see what gases they're made of.
I could go on a whole ass rant on the gengar line.

Heyyy, any advice for someone that might be going into customer service jobs soon?
be prepared to answer possibly the dumbest questions you've ever heard of in your life. once i had a guy come in trying to ask if he could redeem his pok茅mon card for the real life actual pok茅mon.
i had to tell him "no, sir, even if we DID have charizards here, none of them would be holographic."

Which Pokemon do you find often needing home because of shiny breeders?
Oh, that is a great question, thanks for asking;
I would say the top three in no particular order is ; Any 'starter' Pokemon, Eevee's, and any pseudo-legendary with a 'good' shiny.
1-) Most starter Pokemon (that are given by professors) are endangered species that generally have fire, grass, or water typing, with a three-stage evolution. Them being 'rare' raises their value and since they are endangered species, it's much easier to set up a breeding mill without too many legal issues. Disguise it as a charity to raise the population and you can swat away most of the legal complaints.
- We mostly forfeit a big number of these Pokemon to their respective regions for new trainers. But the ones that are too strong or have issues (health or behavior-wise) that makes them unsuitable to be starters stay in the sanctuary or go to fosters. But, they have high mortality rates due to sickness and inbreeding.
2-) I think you can understand why Eevees are desirable. They are good for everything, be it in battle, contests, or just house pets. And they have several potential colorations thanks to their evolution options. Not evolved eevees are highly sought after since it gives the owner a chance to choose.
-They are more fortunate as eevees are great at adapting. They have a significantly low mortality rate as they are resistant to common sicknesses and inbreeding in a breeding mill. They bounce back fast, too, so they are available to adopt much faster. Also, Eevees from this background do well as 'starter' Pokemon. Our sanctuary gives out Pokemon that are suitable as starters, we mostly include Pokemon like Nidoran, rockruff, Pikachu, and, of course, eevee when asked to see starter Pokemon.
3-) Any pseudo-legendary with a good shiny includes the following Pokemon; Dragapult, Salamance, Metagross, Tyranitar, and Dragonite. Although, Dragonite is much more valuable in it's first two evolution stages. These Pokemon have a more aesthetically pleasing coloration compared to the others. A perfect IV'd Pokemon with good nature and ability, is worth a tiny fortune. So, most of the breeding mills focus on that.
- Thankfully, since most pseudo-legendary Pokemon are tough, they have low mortality rates as well. But, their mind is much weaker than their body. These Pokemon that are rescued from the breeding mills tend to have behavioral problems that make them unstable and unadoptable for long periods. They are much harder to find fosters too since they tend to be on the larger side.
Hope I answered your question well :D
