There are a million words I could say about my Poppy girl, and a million more people who would confirm them all. When I first saw pictures of my Poppy girl with her Millie Moon sister as tiny babies, I knew they were the perfect pair for my Lucky Elaina. I knew they were the perfect disaster waiting to happen for us, as all kittens are. But when I first hold her, I knew she would be something special; I just didn’t know how special and in how short a time. My Poppy girl got sick at 15.5 months, and even then, I think we all knew, there wasn’t a long, drawn out, happily every after for her. But we knew with whatever time we had left, it was going to be the happiest ever after, and the best companion love story she could ever have. Poppy touched lives, wherever she could, whether she was there or not. Pictures were shown, stories were freely told, to both people AND to her. If her walls could talk in a language we knew, oh the tea it would have spilled. She was given more treats than anyone should ever get. She become a chonk, and I loved it so much. She because everyone at PASEs best friend.. not just because she listened, but because she talked and judged and freely gave her opinion. Towards the end, she started to slow down, and want to hide more, but still keep her eye out for the drama. She would need help to the litter, but she made it look like the most Royal of things needed, not something to be ashamed of. Even at the very end, the best ~4.5 months later, she was carried over the rainbow bridge, not just in Mommy’s arms and holding Daddy’s hands, but with Auntie Erica giving her every bit of love and support as she could.
There were definitely bad points during the 4.5 months she was sick, but honestly, I’d rather the love filled memories be her happiest, most love filled moments. She has touched more people in her life than many cats can touch in entire 20 year long lives!
Mom note: I couldn’t tell if one of my favorite pics was one of the more adorable pictures or one of her in her almost constant “blank, dazed” face but I had to go with loving because she’s all that and more.
(Everything the link says).

As sad as it sounds, as someone who was in need, and who HAD been taken advantage of by sending money to scammers on fb.. I figured gofundme would be the safest way for me to raise money for my Poppy. Everyone knew how to search gofundme and find a legit fundraiser, right?
Somehow I still got scammed, only scammers were using me and my Poppy girl. They still are to this day (4ish months now?), more so me than my girl. Sadly Poppy has passed on, but this doesn’t stop people from using my name and other cat stories.
People using my name literally stopped funds from being raised. The only people who continued donating was family, friends, and family and friends of our vet.
It hurts way more than just scammers to say “well i just won’t give any more money to anyone!”
“Just don’t give money to people on the internet” is often the unfortunately common remark people like to use on posts that explain how to spot a scam account.
However I will tell you it is entirely unnecessary to add these kinds of comments because they are ignorant of the tips that are just telling you to be careful.
Paying people over the internet is an extremely common practice and sometimes physically giving someone money isn’t an option you have. You can be careful, and take caution, and also do your own research. But don’t tell people they ‘shouldn’t give anyone money over the internet to strangers’ because that isn’t a tip on how to avoid scams it’s an overused excuse I’m so tired of seeing on posts that simply give you advice.
Not everyone asking for help is a scammer. Scammers just make it harder getting help and lead to people saying everyone is a scammer or acting like their pointless advice is the best advice when it’s not.

Why me? Like what about me appeals to people to try to use *me* as a scam? I’m just so glad no one is specifically using Poppys name/photo/story anymore so maybe she will get to rest… but why are people using my name now?

“Hi, greetings! I'm really sorry for asking this as I'm truly in dire need of help. My cat needs an immediate diagnostic testing so l'm trying to raise some funds for her. If you have some spare time, you can check it out on the post that I have pinned for her, and if you feel it in your heart to help, you can help us boost the post or share it! Even if you cannot donate, spreading the word is definitely more than enough. Thank you for your kindness and sorry again to bother you and for being this direct. <333”

Just to let y’all know, this is a scammer, using my exact name and a PayPal link that is drastically close to mine (I have @MRiggs85 and they added a 9 to the end so that it’s easy to get tricked into believing it’s someone (me) legit when it’s that close. Scammer decided to stop using my cat (who crossed the rainbow bridge 9-1) Poppy, but is using other cats and cat pics to come up with a sob story. It’s getting pathetic and I just want my name, my cat, my story, everything out of this at this point
Can someone help? Im begging 😭

This is Maverick, our 3.5 year old adventure kitty who needs his front paw amputated after dislocating his joint yesterday in an unknown injury. Vet believes he got his paw stuck somewhere and yanked so roughly he dislocated his wrist. He was in our basement and we are still puzzling over what could have happened. He is in obvious pain.
We are devastated beyond words. We can’t afford the thousands needed to travel to a joint specialist and so are hoping to save his life through amputation. Estimate is about $1500.

Maverick is hopping around on three legs and is angry I haven’t taken him out for our normal coffee-in-the-garden routine. He likes to do his morning business in my flower boxes before having breakfast. I believe he will do well transitioning to being a tripod cat.
Surgery scheduled for Friday. We put a $500 deposit down plus Red Rover approved our grant application and is giving us $300. Only $600 left to raise now. Please help us raise the remaining needed. Thank you!!!
I've tried to come up with the money on my own but I've been unsuccessful. She’s now crying in pain when I go to pick her up. I think as she’s growing, whatever she has, is getting worse. I need to know what's wrong with him so I can help him. I don't want her in pain one more day than she has to be.
You can donate to my paypal which is linked HERE - $20/$600
$40/$600
please do send your love and support as friends and family so paypal will not deduct any fee and will not put the funds on hold! Thank you for everything! 🙏

Poppy has passed away
Earlier this year, you may recall a scammer had been posting about a cat they owned called Poppy. However, there was a problem with that: Poppy didn’t actually belong to them and they weren’t Michelle Riggs. In fact, the real one did not use tumblr at that time. She was a Facebook user. She was not aware that someone had took her whole story and reposted it to tumblr and was pretending they was her. When she found out, she joined tumblr in order to prove who she was and show proof she was actually Poppy’s owner who needed help.
Unfortunately even with her joining tumblr, the scammer still used Poppy and Michelle to raise money for themselves. Now months later, they have returned to using Michelle’s name to scam people with cats that are not Poppy or their own. The scammer now says Michelle is their step-sister, but she isn’t related to them. The fake PayPal they own still hasn’t been took down as of this post.
However, I make this post to honor Poppy herself and her owner, @luckypoppymilliemama . We all may have never met Poppy in person, but we all knew who we was and we all helped as much as we could. But now the scammer is back to trying to ruin the reputation and name of Michelle Riggs again, so please be aware that the person mentioned here is the real one.
You can find the link to Poppy here. It is the fundraiser that had been made for her. While no more donations to it can be given, please support the real Michelle Riggs.

ilovefreshpineapples/sweetpineapplesarenice/sweetarepineapples pineapplesfromheart is a scammer

This is the real post they used and all they did was use a different cat pic. Don’t donate to them. They make PayPal accounts based around real people who don’t know someone’s stealing their fundraising post off a private group.
Also..

That’s not the real Michelle Riggs. You want to know who gets hurt by this scammer?
@luckypoppymilliemama IS the actual Michelle Riggs whose being impersonated here.
“Hi im terribly sorry! I just really need your help. I’m trying to raise some funds for little Olaf’s needs (my cat) as I brought him to the vet yesterday morning because of a really bad diarrhea and im trying to raise some funds as I cannot afford the estimate the vet gave us. 🥲Please help me share the post I made for him, I have pinned it on my blog. I’m hoping that you’ll consider, and sorry again for bothering you and for being this direct! Take care!”
