Regarding Jaydick
I’ve been shipping and reading DC comics for almost 10 years now; and never before has the community had the kind of hatred and backlash for Jaydick that it’s gained suddenly. I’m shocked and dismayed by just how much wrong information is being passed around, and I’m going to attempt and clear the air here.
Myth #1 - Dick being with Jason is pedophilic?
Incorrect.
In New52 which (like it or not) is canon, Dick is confirmed as being 21 and Jason is 19/20; that’s only 1 or 2 years difference.
In Pre-52 (which is even HARDER to distinguish ages within because it’s such a clusterfuck) Dick’s age was agreed upon by most as being 27-28. Jason was at the time 23.  Again, that’s only a five year gap at the very most.
On average most couples have an age gap of 2-3 years. An age gap of 4-5 is certainly not unheard of, in fact I’m certain many of your parents or couples that you know have that same sort of age gap.
Myth #2 - JayDick is incest?
Incorrect.
Dick had already moved away from the nest (or cave if you will) by the time that Jason was taken in by Bruce. He was off doing his own thing at college, with the Titans, and still very adamantly avoiding Bruce because of their big blowout. They never had time to bond in the same manner that Dick would later go on to do with Tim and Damian. In fact in the New52 Jason doesn’t like Dick from the very beginning and rejects his attempts at bonding outright.
Bruce had yet to adopt Dick or Jason (even in pre-52 continuity). If I remember correctly, Jason is never even adopted formally by Bruce, he remains his ward. Dick was adopted after the fact when he was 20-something and only after Bruce had adopted Tim Drake. Therefore even legally this isn’t even an argument.
If all that wasn’t enough, there’s also the Westermarck Effect. A summary of this phenomenon is: The Westermarck effect has been observed in non-related and related individuals who spend large amounts of time with each other under the age of six. These people who are raised together tend to become desensitized to each other, and they don’t develop sexual attraction to each other later in life.
I italicized the important bit. Dick and Jason both were much older than six years old when they were brought to the Manor to live with Bruce. The Westermarck Effect would never have had time to kick in, especially considering that they didn’t spend much time together. They wouldn’t be de-sensitized to one another at all.
In fact, I suggest the complete opposite. I believe they’d be attracted to one another because of multiple studies that show we as people are more attracted to people who look similar to us in appearance. Obviously Dick and Jason look similar enough to fool the general public, and villains (sometimes) into thinking that they are the same Robin (and the same Nightwing when Jason takes the fingerstripes out for a joyride.)
Myth #3 - Jason and Dick as a couple are problematic.
Correct, actually.
BUT so are Jason and a lot of other people. (Sidenote: I’m not saying you can’t ship these things, I’m merely pointing out that these things are also problematic and why.)
JayTim; Jason has tried to kill him too many times to count, and actively hates him (especially in pre-52).
JayDami; again Jason has tried to kill him a lot, and here you can use the age gap/pedophilia reasoning since Damian is very much underage.
BruJay; Bruce held a huge hand in raising Jason. He is the member of the Batfam that Jason has had the most exposure to, and they both have admitted to seeing one another in a father/son light at one point or another. The age gap is huge between them. Jason tried to kill him and his fellow Robins. Also Jason is very manipulative in the UtRH story line in attempting to force Bruce to change his moral code.
JayTalia (which was canon); Age gap again here. Consent issues regarding Jason’s state of mind. Manipulation on Talia’s behalf to coerce Jason to go against Bruce.
The bottom line is that Jason is even by himself a problematic character. Any relationship he undergoes with people from his past is bound to have it’s difficulties and things that it must overcome. That said, isn’t that what writing fanfiction is for? To push characters together and explore a relationship that likely will never come to light within its current media?
I wrote all this because I’m sick and tired of seeing these awful excuses for “calling people out” for shipping Jaydick. I’ve seen death threats in the tags. DEATH THREATS?!!? It’s garbage. You want Jason with another member of the Batfam, that’s cool, but don’t shame Jaydick shippers with reasoning that isn’t even accurate. At the end of the day, these are fictional characters we’re talking about here. They don’t exist and shippers aren’t hurting anybody.

It's cool that you ship someone who canonly is shown to be attracted to the opposite gender with someone of the same gender (aka slash). But you know what would be just as cool? If you acknowledge that making him bisexual is a valid option instead of simply erasing his other relationships with people of the opposite gender. I'm not saying you can't hc them as being gay, I'm just pointing out that being bi is a valid option as well. And do you know what is NOT cool? To be a sexist jerk in m/m slash and turn the nice girls that are the canon love interests of the guys in your ship into crazy psychos and demean them for their genders just to have a villain to your ship. Female characters already have a bad representation in media without people using them as punching bag for a story about two dudes.

When a straight girl goes through the same, it happens not because we are straight, but because they think we are gay. Either way, the "predatory" concept is still just applied against gay girls.
It should be noted that most straight girls who go through this are thought to be gay because they don't fit some stereotype, and that's one example why feminism and the lgbtq+ movements shouldn't be alienated from each other.
every gay girl i’ve spoken to agrees that one of the most humiliating and demoralizing things is having a straight girl thinking you’re coming on to them simply bc you like girls and it….really fucks with our relationships both platonic and romantic bc while other girls get to sit on each others laps and sleep in the same beds and playfully grab each others asses we’re putting up so many walls just in case our straight friends think we’re after them.

But no, let me rant about my co-workers and how big of sexist, homophobic assholes they are. It goes like this: I called on them for being homophobic and sexist. So they decided that I must be a lesbian, because I don't fit their gender stereotypes, and started treating someone who they think is a lesbian with disguised homophobia. Long story short: they react to being called homophobic and sexist... by being homophobic and sexist.

Little rant about how people use gender stereotypes to deny girls their sexuality. You like make up and fashion? Then you're obviously straight, no way a "pretty girl" can be a lesbian. But if a girl wears band t-shirts and likes sports, that's automatically a lesbian. Oh, and apparently only lesbians can talk for themselves and call on sexist bs - straight girls gotta be submissive. And what fucks me up is that people treat girls accordingly. You're a lesbian, but if you're "girly", that's automatically erased, and fuckboys will swarm around yoy. And if a straight girl does not fit "girly" stereotypes, get ready to be treated with thinly veiled homophobia bc everyone is just going to assume you're in the closet and try to drag u out.

Brotip: if you're gonna lie, believe in your lie and go down with it. Don't tell anyone "actually, what really happened was...". Don't let people know you're lying to someone else. For instance, if you're gonna lie to your teacher about your paper, don't let your friends know. Make them believe it as well so they can back you up.

I think it's really hypocritical how people diss on slash ships in the batfam, but fully support het ships in the batfam. Like, the same people who diss on the jaytim ship bc incest also ship dick/helena and tim/cass. One may argue that they are 'different cases', but how different is it when the het ship was actually raised together, while the slash ship just happened to be adopted by the same man, but on different periods in time (aka not raised together, and I don't think I need to explain the meaning of affective family here). Stop being hypocritical.

Dick and Tim after Dick moves out of the manor
Tim: I eat Alfred's cookies to stay sane.
Dick: I miss that.
Tim: What? Alfred's cookies?
Dick: No. Sanity.

All of your father’s greatness stems from his anger. His pain. His loss. That’s what makes Batman. Someday you’ll inherit the right to be Batman. But the mantle of Robin is mine to pass on. You become Robin to save people. To catch them. Because it’s the right thing to do. I’ve been hurt. I’ve lost people I loved. But that’s not what makes Robin. Because it isn’t what makes me. I’ve never let myself be defined by tragedy.

I like to think that Dick asks Damian for high fives but hold his hand all the way up to mock Damian’s height
And Damian, with all of his 4'6" glory, climbs Dick’s body every time with the determination of a mother lifting a car to save her child and the movement of a baby koala to reach his palm
