#Lockdownbabies on BBC 1 @rachel_chadwickporter directed programme that aired a few days ago. It showed pregnancy during COVID.. many people asked “Why is Stacey Dooley allowed in the midwife appointment with a stranger, but not the woman’s partner? Entertainment purposes okay, but moral support is not? #bbcone #Panorama.” I chose to be filmed even though I couldn’t have family come along with me to my appointments or during my contractions at the hospital and wanted people to see what’s going on with pregnant women during COVID. Unless they witness it like that on the tele. Not many people realised the extent of it until it was aired. I was constantly sent back home during my contractions that were 3 mins apart for 3 days!! Sent back home I tell you! 3 days I had no sleep at all not a minute and I’d get sent back home because apparently I wasn’t ready for birth and only after 3 days did they realise my labour wasn’t going forward and progressing because my little nugget was in the posterior position causing complications for the both of us which caused her to be welcomed to the world with a dat lump on her head (thankfully that has gone down now!) Imagine 3 mins apart contractions for 3 days and even going up to 1 min apart and being told “you can go a week like that” without checking why there’s no progression all due to COVID. Having to wear a mask and huffing and puffing behind the mask. All this needed to be documented. This is a little about why we needed the programme. Yes we couldn’t take family which felt horrible but the crew needed to show you all this! So thank you @rachel_chadwickporter @bbcone and @candour_tv @bbcpanorama P.s. I really recommend you to try hypnobirthing if you’re feeling anxious about birth. That made me feel so calm during birth and contractions that made me seem like I wasn’t due to give birth even with all the pain I had.
