I hate how some cosplayers and content creators alike have ruined niche movies and cult classics. The Barbie movies come to mind. They used to be such a niche, small community like ten years ago and then some cosplayers decided to cosplay the characters, leading to their explosion in popularity again. I know this seems like such a non-issue but it’s just sad when a small niche gets so much exposure like that

I really need people to understand that Rhaenyra’s only source of power is Viserys, he can literally name aegon heir any second and she won’t be able to do anything about it, just like Rhaenys. TB doesn’t exist outside the patriarchal society the story takes place in. The decision to cut the book scene of Viserys threatening Rhaenyra’s claim is insane to me because this is such an important plot point. If Rhaenyra was a man Viserys would’ve never been able to name aegon heir instead. Rhaenyra is just as dependent on the men in her life for power as any other woman in Westeros.

So I was taking the train from London to Derby and struggled with opening the door, because it was heavy, and not one person reached out to help. I didn’t keep the door open for anyone afterwards and basically let it hit them in the face. Yes, I am that petty.

What's the connection of Aegon the Unworthy to Rhaenyra? I've never seen or read anything in the lore of Rhaenyra being an Unworthy or problematic ruler like Aegon IV?
What I was referring to in my original post was that both Aegon IV and Rhaenyra were monarchs who put their personal pleasure and desires ahead of the realm and its laws. The power of the Iron Throne was a vehicle for them to use to satisfy their fancies and caprices, and little more. But the similarities do not end there: both were brazen about their affairs; both bestowed favor (or tried to, in Aegon’s case) on a lover publicly; both cared little for legalities; both used their obvious bastards to get the property of their purported fathers, Laenor Velaryon and Ossifer Plumm; both took action that threatened to send the realm into a civil war (Rhaenyra by having an affair and passing her bastards as trueborn heirs, Aegon by legitimizing his bastards and giving Daemon the sword Blackfyre, one of the visible symbols of Targaryen legitimacy - and one that had been used to argue that its wielder was the heir to the throne before - while casting shadow on his sister-wife’s fidelity and showing public disfavor to his heir to the point where rumors abounded that he was planning to disinherit him); both abused royal power even before they ascended to the throne, both were vindictive, cruel and consummately selfish. The list goes on.
As for Rhaenyra being a problematic ruler, boy oh boy. There is an abundance of evidence to that in the text that I’m wondering if perhaps you only read TWOIAF but not The Rogue Prince or The Princess and The Queen? The latter two really paint a picture a proper tyrant with a heavy inclination to abuse the law for her personal gain and pleasures, whether during her time as Princess of Dragonstone or her short tenure as queen.
Under the cut for length.

Getting Wet
You and your boyfriend Percy enjoy a night alone after your 21st birthday bash is over in the pool of your backyard.
Percy Jackson x reader
Warning: Smut, pure porn ;) Minors DNI!!!
Tumblr media
What a party. You had just turned 21, which means you can now legally drink alcohol. You were a demigod, half god, half human, daughter of Aphrodite, and your boyfriend, Percy Jackson, was the son of Poseidon, and one of the most, if not the most, powerful demigod alive. All of your friends were other demigods, of course, and it had been the best birthday party ever. You had never felt so loved. Now though, it was just you and Percy left, along with the housekeeper, and your parents had gone away, as promised, to leave you to enjoy your party.
As soon as the housekeeper had left and everything had been cleaned (you had helped her of course), now it was just you and Percy.
"What do you say to a nighttime swim?" Percy suggested.
"No way. It's late. It's past midnight!" You hissed, having looked at the time on your phone.
"So? It's summer, there's no school and no work tomorrow." Percy crossed his arms.
You sighed, knowing he had a point. "Fine."
Percy grinned a triumphant grin, making you roll your eyes, but you grinned on your way back up to your room. You changed back into your bikini, not wearing the blue one that Percy loves, but instead a fuchsia one. You knew Percy wasn't a big fan of pink, in fact he detested the color, so your purposefully wore this one just to annoy him. You combed your (h/c) with your hands, going back out to find Percy nowhere to be seen.
"Percy?" You called out.
No answer. "Percy?" You called out again, but still no answer. You began to look around, but no sign of your boyfriend anywhere.
"Percy, this isn't funny!" You crossed your arms.
Suddenly, a huge wave burst out of the pool, dragging you in, making you scream.
Percy howled in laughter, making you glare at him and smack his arm. "That was not funny!" You glared.
"It was." He gave you a mischievous smile. His eyes traveled to your body, making you blush, noticing your fuchsia bikini.
"Why didn't you wear the blue one?" Percy frowned.
"To annoy you." You said simply.
A mischievous gleam appeared in Percy's sea green eyes. "I don't like it."
"Too bad, because I'm wearing it." You taunted.
Percy cornered you into the edge of the pool, his sea salty breath on you, and your cheeks heated. He kissed you, pulling you closer to him. The kiss went from sweet and gentle to rough and hungry. You squirmed, while Percy kept devouring your lips, pulling away to let both of you breathe and then moving his lips to the nape of your neck. You squealed as he sucked the sensitive spot, your nails digging into his shoulders.
"P-Percy, n-no, you're going to leave a hickey!" You hissed.
"That's the idea." He smirked, continuing to suck.
"I want the whole world to know you are mine." Percy panted, kissing you again.
You rolled your eyes but smiled, as you continued to make out fervently, your hands finding their way to his hair. The water rippled gently against your bodies, as Percy lifted you up, sitting you on the edge of the pool, his hands finding their way to the hook of your bikini bra. Your bra slid off, revealing your breasts. Percy admired them, his eyes shining with lust, making you blush. Your breath hitched as his hands caressed them gently, continuing to kiss you. You pulled away, panting.
"Maybe we should continue this elsewhere, like my bedroom." You smirked.
Percy smirked back. "Or not."
You frowned, and Percy pulled you back into the pool. "Have you ever fucked in a pool?"
"No." You shook your head.
"Me either." Percy shrugged. "So why don't we do it?"
"You're crazy." You grinned.
"Maybe. Are you?" Percy looked at you.
"I think I am." You smirked.
Percy grinned, kissing you and pulling your bikini bottoms down, and you in turn pulled his swim trunks down. You both stood there, admiring each other shamelessly. You boldly were the first to move, grasping his dick firmly and start caressing it. Percy squirmed, trying very hard not to make noise, but it was futile, as your soft hands expertly massaged his length, and Percy grunted with each stroke, his hands gripping the edge of the pool tightly, caging you in.
"Does this feel good?" You purred.
"Y-Yes... Goddamit!" He nearly screamed, making you giggle.
You continued to stroke and caress his penis, making Percy grunt and pant even more, until he came onto your hand, making you smirk triumphantly.
"Fuck." Percy whispered.
"You got fucked alright." You teased, smirking.
Percy's sea green eyes suddenly flashed with desire, as he swiftly pushed you against the edge of the pool, making you yelp, and spread your legs, the tip of his dick pressing against your core, making you gasp, every hair on your body standing still.
"We'll see who's truly getting fucked tonight." He growled.
Without warning, he buried himself deep inside you, making you squeal loudly. With a steady pace, he went in and out, your hands gripping his shoulders for dear life as he continued entering you, fastening his pace.
Being partially submerged in the pool softened the blows, but Percy was pounding you so hard you felt each thrust and moans escaped your lips no matter how hard you tried to control them. Your moans and his grunts fused together to create some sort of odd symphony. You would have laughed at the weird noises you two were making if you weren't too busy nearly blacking out from the pleasure.
Percy stopped, panting, pulling out of you and kissing you. "This isn't over, (y/n)." He threatened, though there was playfulness to his tone.
"Really? And just when, exactly, do you plan on continuing?" You smirked.
"Tomorrow morning, afternoon, or night. Really, whenever I want." Percy shrugged.
"Oh? You'll just decide when you get to fuck me?" You crossed your arms, heat pooling around your core, turned on by his possessiveness and assertiveness.
"Exactly." Percy winked.

Blood of the Dragon
Every once in a generation, a dragon shifter is born to a Valyrian family. This time a shifter is born to the Targaryen family, and that shifter is you. You don't have a dragon, because you are the dragon. With the ability to manipulate fire, resist its harm, and shift into the fire-breathing beast, it is no surprise everyone takes an interest in your power, some a little too much than others. Your older brother Aemond is obsessed with you and goes to great lengths to protect you, your uncle Daemon wants to kill you and harvest your blood, your mother Alicent is terrified at who she has given birth to. Lords from all over the realm want you as a wife, but you are to be kept under lock and key.
You can pick your own name and eye color, however you have the silver hair of Valyria and the overall features.
Tumblr media
Ever since you were a child you knew you were different. Although you possessed every Valyrian feature, from the silvery white hair to the nearly translucent skin and refined nose, your eyes were a different story. They weren't the usual violet eyes of the Valyrians, at least not all the time. Your eyes changed color with your moods it would seem. Fire did not harm you, but rather, it seemed to answer your call. You thought this was normal, that every Valyrian-descended person resisted fire, and could even wield it, but you soon found out that was not the case.
You were the odd one out, the freak, the outcast. Only your brothers and sister knew, and Aemond was fascinated by you. Aegon was too, but not to the degree Aemond was, and Daeron was simply amazed. Helaena had a gift as well, as she was a dragon dreamer, making you feel less alone. You were not very talkative, and especially around strangers.
Your father had just died in his sleep, and now here you stood, in the dragon pit, watching your eldest sibling, Aegon, being crowned king. You knew this would bring trouble, as did Helaena, who kept muttering "there is a beast beneath the boards." You wondered if she was referring to a dragon. I mean, you were in the dragon pit after all. Ser Criston Cole, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, placed the Crown of the Conqueror atop Aegon's head.
Your mother, wearing a black and dark green gown with an amulet of the Seven ever so gracefully walked towards your sister Helaena, placing a gold crown with a thousand emeralds upon her head, and said, "my Queen." You looked down at your own gown, that was (f/c), flowing at your skirts. Helaena also wore a green gown, though hers was brighter than that of your mother's and had no black anywhere in sight.
"I present to you His Grace the King! King Aegon, second of his name, the rightful king of the Andals, Protector of the Realm, and his Queen, Helaena Targaryen." Ser Criston announced.
Cheers went about the pit, and Aegon, surprised at the support, smiled, unsheathing his sword and lifting it into the air. More cheers came from the people of King's Landing. You yourself were surprised that your brother was getting this much support, given how your father, the late King Viserys, proclaimed his eldest child, Rhaenyra, as his heir, and made many lords swear fealty to her. Your mother insists that father changed his mind on his deathbed, but you doubted it. Nevertheless, it would seem not many were happy with Rhaenyra ascending the throne, given how many people, both noble and low born, had gathered here.
The doors to the dragon pit suddenly burst open, pieces of brick and debris flying everywhere, a few people injured, and some dead upon impact. The roar of a dragon made your blood chill, as Meleys, the mount of Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, a staunch supporter of Rhaenyra who had been held captive to try and garner her support, advanced towards you and your family, crushing people with each step she took as chaos broke out, people scattering and running in every direction, trying to avoid the dragon.
"OPEN THE DOORS!" Grandsire Otto commanded, but took a step back as Meleys stood in front of you, hissing, Rhaenys glaring down at all of you. Your mother instinctively stood protectively in front of Aegon, commanding Ser Criston to get Helaena, and Aemond shoved you behind him. Daeron, your oh-so-honorable up and coming knight of a brother, drew his sword and made haste to defend all of you, the poor innocent soul, but Meleys drew her head back then forward, as Rhaenys shouted a command in High Valyrian, her eyes suddenly filled with terror, but Meleys ignored the command, about to bathe your brother in dragon fire, but in that instant, you ran out from behind Aemond, ignoring his cries, and pushed Daeron out of the way, the rain of dragon fire engulfing you.
You thought you would feel the world's most excruciating pain, but fact of the matter is you didn't. In fact, you didn't feel anything. Were you dead? No... you certainly didn't feel dead. You actually could not feel more alive. The fire eventually died out, leaving you still standing, unscathed. Your family and Ser Criston all stared at you in shock, horror, and awe, as did Rhaenys, and Meleys was utterly confused as to how her fire did not kill you. The people of King's Landing were still much too focused on escaping, though a few did witness this plot twist. Their expressions were equally horrified and confused. You simply stared Meleys down, unmoving, until the red dragon ceded and turned around, making haste for the door, exiting the dragon pit.
You blinked, shaking your head. "Y/N!" Your mother choked out, grabbing you by the shoulders and shaking you. "Are you out of your mind?!"
"How extraordinary..." Grandsire whispered, studying you.
"Aemond, take your sister to her chambers. Daeron, you idiot!" Your mother scolded.
Aemond led you out of the dragon pit, still glancing at you with awe. "Not only can you manipulate fire, but dragon fire does you no harm... interesting."
"I am a freak of nature, brother." You spoke, shrugging.
"Maybe so, but very powerful you may just be." He smiled.
You stared down at your hands, and they felt hot, glowing with fiery embers up to your fingertips.
What were you, really? A witch? A sorceress of sorts? Could such thing be possible?

Dance of the Dragons was Poorly Written
*This will be a long post.
The Dance of the Dragons, the source material in which House of the Dragon is based on, is a poorly-written piece of fiction whose plot has more holes than Swiss cheese. It is George R.R. Martin's weakest piece of writing. I said what I said. The Dance has many unrealistic scenarios, characters being really stupid for no good reason other than to advance the plot, and the story simply violates the rules of the universe it is set in. Let us start with the reason the Dance started.
House Targaryen was having a succession crisis, driving Jaehaerys I to call a council in which the lords of the realm voted on who should rule. The candidates with the strongest claims were Viserys and Rhaenys. The lords chose Viserys, and not only that, but it is said that Viserys won by a landslide, because Westeros will not accept a woman as ruler. Okay, Westeros is a patriarchal society. We are told this time and time again especially in the main series. Rhaenys even at one point tells Rhaenyra that the lords "would rather put the realm to the torch than see a woman rule".
Yet, when Viserys names Rhaenyra his heir, and keeps her as his heir despite having three, true-born sons, the lords seem to have no qualms about this, and we even see half the realm support Rhaenyra. I have questions here. How is a supposedly patriarchal society, who practically laughed out a woman's claim to the throne, suddenly okay with another ruling? What's the reasoning behind this? What makes Rhaenyra so special that half the realm supported her claim and the lords had no problem with her ruling? Despite there being not one but three true-born sons? Before anyone brings up the oaths, those oaths were made before said sons were born, and oaths are broken all the time. Realistically speaking, the lords would have supported Aegon's claim over Rhaenyra's simply because he's a son, and Westeros is patriarchal, with the exception of Dorne. They would have especially supported Aegon after Rhaenyra started siring bastards, which brings me to my next point.
Bastards. Bastard children are treated quite badly, as we see in Jon Snow in the main series. The laws of Westeros dictate that bastards cannot inherit anything over true-born children, and may only inherit in dire circumstances, such as a noble not having any living, legitimate children. Rhaenyra sires three bastard children with Harwin Strong. The realm knows this, yet nobody seems to care except Alicent and her father, Otto. This is just outright unrealistic. Rhaenyra gaslights everyone into accepting her bastards as legitimate children despite the obvious truth and even threatens to execute anyone who dares mention it. This could be explained as the reasoning for many to not seemingly care, however, realistically speaking, Rhaenyra would have lost most if not all support after siring bastards and trying to pass them off as legitimate, with the lords either supporting Aegon or declaring neutrality.
It makes no sense for the lords of the realm to be cool with supporting a woman who has sired bastards and is trying to put one on the throne when a whole ass war, the Blackfyre rebellions, breaks out later on precisely to prevent a bastard from inheriting the throne. Again, why is the realm okay with Rhaenyra's bastards but not with Daemon Blackfyre? Daemon Blackfyre did have supporters, though it was mainly because his supporters did believe in his legitimacy, whereas his opponents believed he was a bastard. In Rhaenyra's case though, it is painfully obvious the kids are bastards, so it makes absolutely no sense for them to have support.
Let me get to the more nonsensical parts of the story.
House Royce supporting Rhaenyra, despite how badly Daemon treated Rhea. Why would they support Rhaenyra knowing who she is married to and how that person treated one of their own?
House Stark supporting Rhaenyra, the oh-so-honorable House Stark, supporting a woman who has sired bastards. This one is especially funny to me given how Ned literally lost his head for trying to expose a bastard and preventing him from inheriting the throne.
House Velaryon. Oh my goodness, where do I even start with this one? We know Corlys is as greedy as Otto, so that could be the driving force for his support of Rhaenyra and her cause, and why he seemingly accepted her bastards as Laenor's sons. They were after all betrothed to his granddaughters. What makes no sense is their continued support of Rhaenyra after Vaemond's execution, and the Silent Five, the Battle of the Gullet, given how costly it was to the Velaryons, and after Rhaenyra tried to have Addam arrested. Supporting Rhaenyra pretty much destroyed House Velaryon.
The Riverlands magically respawning despite being razed to the ground by Aemond.
The Lannister army, supposedly being described as being one of the strongest, coming up short in numbers against the Northmen and being obliterated. In the main series, Tywin musters an army of over 40,000.
Giving two of the largest and strongest dragons to two, lowborn peasants of questionable ancestry without testing their loyalty first. This decision at least does realistically backfire on Rhaenyra.
The storming of the Dragonpit. This one is the most ridiculous of them all. You mean to tell me that Dreamfyre, a dragon bigger than a whale, couldn't have killed all of the people storming in? Especially with other fully-grown dragons inside? Realistically speaking, the small folk would have run away, or tried to, after many bodies started piling up, or being burnt.
The death of Jaehaera. She could have easily been made a Septa. George seems to like killing off characters needlessly, and I understand some characters dying is necessary to advance the plot, but Jaehaera wasn't one of them. If anything, letting her live and have kids with Aegon III would have been a very ironic ending to the Dance. The Greens, who usurped the throne because they value male primogeniture, end up with a woman as their sole living descendant. Not to mention Aegon III's line dies out anyway, so if George wanted the Greens' line to end, he could have let Jaehaera live and the end of the lineage would have still happened. Also, Jaehaera being Daemon Blackfyre's grandma would have been an even more ironic end to the Dance. The Greens, the supporters of male primogeniture, who gave the most importance to Rhaenyra having bastards, not only end with a woman as their sole descendant but their lineage continues with bastards. George really fumbled the ball right there. This ending would have been beautifully ironic and hilarious.
Daenaera Velaryon. Good lord this one gives me the ick. Daenaera is a six-year-old, being presented as the most beautiful in the Maiden's Day Ball, and seemingly just pops out of nowhere. I don't think I need to explain why Daenaera's arc makes me really uncomfortable.
Anyway, that is the end of my little rant/critique. I am so tempted to write a fanfic of the Dance, but make it be Daemon and Rhaenyra versus Aegon and the Greens, and have it be a war of "true Targaryen blood" and Valyrian supremacy versus "not Targaryen enough, not a true Targaryen due to being half Hightower". What do you think?

For all TB fans saying "Rhaenyra wouldn't kill children." Your legit wrong.
She didn't care that Jaehaerys died in the books only that it made her look bad, and she felt bad for Helaena nothing else. She put a price on Jaehaera and Maelors heads, yes a 6 and 2 year old were sentenced to die cause she didn't want any chance of her losing the throne. When people did find Maelor they cut him in pieces and handed him piece by piece to Rhaenyra and she paid them for their "work".
Also she's not the feminist you think she is, she legit would tell woman asking if they could inherit there families seats "a son comes before a daughter." So why the hell should Rhaenyra be any different? Why does she get the throne if a son comes before a daughter?
You all really hold her on this pedestal that isn't even hers, she's not a Child loving kind queen, she's not a feminist girl boss queen. She's a cruel queen, so much so she was called "Rhaenyra the Cruel." And "Maegor with teats." You know how much bad and cruel shit you got to do to be called those things? Too much for you TBs to be comfortable with.
