Ppl idk what is happening exactly but the rips in reality, the doubles, dark planet lit by no sun, the distant prince, ash beach and the tiny night vale are all related somehow? I need to write this down and think a bit on exactly how, though. BY THE WAY did anyone notice that Cal might be/be related to the man in the tan jacket? I have so much to digest after this ep u guys, come talk to me pls!

One thing that keeps bothering me in fan-made content

Especially in fanfiction. Its something hard to notice on most fan-made stuff, but it really shows when people are depicting older characters. The thing is: nearly everybody written by fans acts like a teenager. Or like a young adult, at best. And because many many shows have teens/young adults as main characters that becomes kind of like a norm? Idk. But when you have two 50-something year old men being shipped people tend to forget that they are exactly that: 50-somethings. And I'm not saying mature characters can't be silly or have pillow fights or whatever. But the way they are written always gives that air of ingenuity/inexperience that becomes really childish in, say, a 60 year old scientist. It makes them so agonizingly out of character and not because they weren't like that at age 25, they could have been. But fandom has this tendency of depicting everybody with this 'young adult mentality' and it simply doesn't fit some characters. Now I am very aware that: a. most people creating content for fandoms ARE young adults and tend to write characters with views like their own. b. the large majority of protagonists on most shows/books/games with a fandom are ALSO young adults who indeed act and think as such. But it ends up showing when people write older characters and I'm not scolding anyone, far from it! Its just something that bothers me a bit, when people write either older characters or age up young ones. The tropes are basically limited to 'salt&pepper hot daddy', 'wise grownup who knows everything and could kick your ass', 'grumpy old person who's secretly fond of the protag' and so on. Which hey, are fine by me. But it's so rare to see a better-written old character who acts their age, idk maybe its just me.
