As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms 

As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.

Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.

I’m sorry friends, but “just google it” is no longer viable advice. What are we even telling people to do anymore, go try to google useful info and the first three pages are just ads for products that might be the exact opposite of what the person is trying to find but The Algorithm thinks the words are related enough? And if it’s not ads it’s just sponsored websites filled with listicles, just pages and pages of “TOP FIFTEEN [thing you googled] IMAGINED AS DISNEY PRINCESSES” like… what are we even doing anymore, google? I can no longer use you as shorthand for people doing real and actual helpful research on their own.

The two pirates looked at the smug Marine, the crying baby standing between the two pirates and the marine, and then at each other.

"Is... that ours?" Sanji pointed at the small bundle, the Marine looking even more pleased with himself.

"Yes!" He said, the two exchanging glances.

"It has green hair, I get to name it." Zoro said, idly slashing at the Marine as he looked down at it.

"Listen here, Marimo. One, its hair is more of a brass colour. Two, it has my eyebrows so I get to name it." Sanji kicked the Marine off the cliff and into the sunset as he also looked down at the bundle.

"Should we ask the Marine? It was the surrogate." Zoro blinked twice.

"No, he's a bad influence." Sanji said, very slowly and carefully picking up the child. "What's its gender?"

"Who's to say, really." Zoro shrugged, taking a drink of sake. "The Marine didn't tell us."

"I hate agreeing with you, but you've got a point." Sanji nodded, the baby falling asleep immediately. "What about Andronika and Andronikos? Andy, for short. It can choose its favourite when it's older."

"I hate when you say smart things. It means I have to agree with you." Zoro rolled his eyes. "Come on, Captain's waiting."

"Whatever, Marimo." Sanji rolled his eyes in turn, moving to kick Zoro head.

He blocked it with a sword before walking beside him, exchanging lighthearted insults.

Appearance:

Dark blue hair that resembles the night sky, with silver and gold streaks throughout it. It reached his thighs when he has it out.

He'll often have it tied back in a thick braid or a messy bun, having given up on keeping it in place whilst he's working. It does have some curls, but he keeps it straight to save having to worry so much about taking care of curls.

He's pale but not quite sickly pale, just the typical pale white person. Sunscreen is his best friend and he applies it religiously.

His eyes are a hazel that's more brown with hints of green, but they glow completely silver whenever he uses his unique magic to the fullest.

He's 176.7cm tall, 5'8 foot if it helps visualize.

He usually dressed in dark blues and purples, with silver or gold accents. But has been known to wear beige on occasion.

Slightly androgynous features, kind of lanky but still has muscles. He tends to carry his siblings if they let him, either carrying them like a football or thrown over his shoulder his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He's only nice sometimes and carries them properly, and only really with the delicate ones or if they hurt themselves.

He has a few ink stains on his fingers.

Has glasses but barely uses them. They're usually found atop his head, just because he sat them there before forgetting about them.

He has a few ear piercings, but has been known to use those fake magnetic piercings on his face if he wants to make an outfit work while he was at home.

He has slight eyebags, but they're usually easy to overlook.

He chugs 'Death Reaper Coffee' like it's milk, and has been known to mix energy drinks into the already hazardous substance. (Death Reaper Coffee is an invention that's roughly 40% pure caffeine and is labelled 'not liable for any deaths after consumption')

He has been known to wear the atrociously brightly colored bracelets the Tiny Terrors make him, but not often and rarer still in public.

Magic:

Family Magic: Midas' Blessed Touch. When used, anything touched with all five fingers will be turned to gold. This gold is easier for the family to enchant and simultaneously harder for others to enchant. After being scrubbed with a mix of sand and ground herbs, the gold is impossible to tell from real gold.

Unique Magic: Stitch-It-Up. Many people assume that his Unique Magic is 'Stitch-It-Up', because that's what they've seen him use. It can be used to fix small imperfections in anything he deems a project. Alastor is known to use it to help fix clothes and to ease muscle pain after someone has trained too hard. This is not Alastor's Unique Magic, merely a facet of it.

Unique Magic: Macabre Madness. An Eldritch-esque magic that allows him to see and manipulate the Life Energy of living beings to his bidding. Very multifaceted, but also ominous, especially as he hesitates to use his own life force as fuel for anything bigger than repairing a rip in an outfit or nudging along recovery after working out. He always replenishes his Life Energy as soon as possibly. He has the ability to consume the Life Energy of other human, but has only done so on three occasions.

Family:

His great-grandmother is his favorite family member, she was a big name fashion designer in her youth and only retired when he was a toddler and tried making himself a ballgown using her equipment to attend one of his older sisters' tea parties when they were in their princess tea party phase. She found him and 'helped' him make a proper dress.

He's been making dresses for the "Tiny Terrors" ever since. His sisters have never quite grown out of their princess tea party phase, and take a secret guilty pleasure in showing them off to their friends and the family. He has stated that only one of his family has never received a ballgown, his trans cousin (ftm) because it would have given them gender dysphoria. They are the only one to be given full traditional royal regalia or be dressed to the nines as a dragon at the Annual Shawcross Ballgown Gathering.

His family are either barely considered extroverts or high functioning introverts, so family gatherings are surprisingly easy to navigate and usually take place in smaller alternating groups over the course of several days to a week to build towards the final large gathering.

The Shawcross are rumoured to be descent from an ancient king, but nobody knows for certain. They keep their wealth quiet and work hard at their chosen fields, but it's clear they have old money.

All of their family have magic and have developed their magic to help with their chosen professions, but they have Family Magic, a Unique Magic passed down through the entire family.

Most of the family has hair of the night sky shade or precious metals.

Great-Grandmother has skin just as dark as her hair used to be, but her hair has since turned silver from age. Other than that and a few well-earned wrinkles, she looks just as young as always. Part of that is due to her Unique Magic, the rest to good genes, and an accident Alastor had with his own Unique Magic after snatching Life Energy from kidnappers.

There's no one Magic School that they attend, but they have five or so family favorites that the family continues to value as alumni.

Gender doesn't apply to them, they were magicked into the world by a nameless marine who thought he was ruining the lives of the Roronoa-Blackleg couple by giving them a baby.

Name is either Andronika or Andronikos, depending on who they're talking to and which gender would benefit them the most.

They're in a white button-up shirt tucked into high-waisted black formal pants with a long dark green topcoat that fades to navy blue at the bottom with white swirls embroidered along the bottom. Dark red scarf tied around their waist under the coat to be used to tie their hair back from their face in a fight. Hair is choppy and braided back in a neat bun with only a fringe out. Has a sword slung across their back carelessly with a small water barrel and a leather bag for snacks and cooking essentials. Has sea-king hide boots.

Personality:

Can be quiet and is known for staying up late at night to read books to help improve her cooking skills or swordsmanship.

They know how to use the three sword style and the black-leg style, but uses just a sword whenever they do actual fighting. Just punts the enemies away whenever they don't want to deal with them. Has punted Luffy before, wasn't allowed to cook for two days.

They're known for their speed and stamina, blurring around battles and taking out whoever was in their way before disappearing again.

Specializes in Armament and Conquerors Haki, and only uses Observational Haki to have 360 vision and x-ray vision of sorts. Is an absolute tank in combat, and has accidentally set themself on fire whilst training to kick like Sanji. Just covered themself in Haki to wait until their fathers grabbed water or a fire extinguisher or something. Both their fathers panicked big-time.

Is very creative with their problem solving, which comes in handy when modifying recipes to taste better or getting around the random situations Straw Hat Crew would end up in. Has a very good memory of things they deem important, like cooking, fighting, languages, their family, and their fathers' stories.

The room was silent save for soft breaths, a several mattresses stacked and arranged to create one giant bed. On it lay three adults, four children, and an elderly lady.

They all lay calmly, limbs tangled and blankets thrown over them.

"Should we go to the Hokage?" Tekikawa Kasumi whispered, the other three sighing from where they were laying together on the large mattress.

"We're not risking the Clan." Tekikawa Mizuchi said, not bothering to open her eyes to glare mentally at her daughter.

"You can't trust Konoha, Imouto." Tekikawa Enkai whispered, patting her head. "You know that."

"I'm just worried." Kasumi whispered back.

"We trust in the Clan." Tekikawa Yuuya murmured, face mushed against a large stuffed shrimp. "Worst comes to pass, we barricade the Compound and use the Emergency Escape."

"We can't take Aiko." Enkai said, throwing an arm over his 'wife'.

"If it comes to it, I'll weave her a new life in Tea Country." Yuuya murmured, his chakra dancing where his leg rested against his uncle. "I'll erase her from everyone and build her a new life in a small village with a son named Daichi and a baby daughter named Eri and a recently deceased husband she loved but wasn't in love with. Nobody but us will ever know that she once lived in Konoha."

"It won't come to that." Mizuchi grumbled slightly as one of the kids started drooling on her knee. "You're being dramatic. We have a Clan, a Compound, a Corner Store, and a Civilian Cover Story. The only thing we need to worry about is Shinobi-kozou here and his habit of lying on official documents."

"Who do you think I got the habit from?" Yuuya murmured, getting a flick to the ear.

"I lied on the official documents first." She grumbled slightly, amused.

"I've lied on every official document I've handed in since I was three." He gave a long sigh.

"You mean since you were six?" Kasumi teased him, more relaxed.

"Hai, O-kaa-san." He hummed, imitating a yawn.

Kasumi yawned almost immediately, Mizuchi flicking his ear as Enkai joined in.

"I know what you did, Kozou. No more treason for tonight, brats." She told them all.

"We'd take Hayami, Kiyomizu, and Tatsuo with us though. Right?" Enkai settled back down.

"Oya, En-ji-san. Don't ask stupid questions, they're Tekikawa." Yuuya poked him with his chakra. "Of course, they'd come with us."

"Right." He huffed as his mother flicked him in the back. "Uwa, I'm sleeping. I'm sleeping."

"Not with that much chatter you aren't." Kasumi poked her brother before they all settled down comfortably.

"Am too." Enkai stuck out his tongue despite no one having their eyes open.

"Put that tongue back in your mouth, Boy; before I hack it off, grill it, and feed it to you." His mother gave a small warning growl.

Yuuya mushed his face into his stuffed shrimp and gave a soft growling hum outside of human frequency, it resonating from deep in his chest. The others joined in and they all fell asleep almost immediately.

The Compound was soon filled with the alien noise, every last member soothed to sleep.

"Hey, Cupcake. I made too many biscuits, you want some?" Sanji sat down on the stairs, holding out a plate.

"Thanks, Chef Pa." They said, holding it as they picked one of the biscuits and took a bite.

Sanji looked at the sky, glancing over at them every now and then. They looked tired, he observed, and they needed to indulge more. No child of his would go hungry.

"Do you want one?" They offered the plate.

"Just the one." He said, taking one from the plate to encourage them to eat more. "Do you like them?"

"Un, they taste like North Blue." They said, Sanji surprised by the reflection.

"It's a North Blue Recipe." He looked between them and the biscuits. "What gave it away?"

They lit up at the genuine interest, talking about the texture and flavor. He listened, surprised by how in depth it was for the four year old. Zoro opened an eye from where he was resting at the top of the stairs, watching the child's pleased chatter.

"I never thought of it that way." Sanji nodded as they looked to him for his opinion on their review of his cooking.

"We might have a genius little chef over here." Zoro lifted them up carefully, sitting them back down on his legs as he held the plate for them. "Steak knives and swords and strawberry shortcake. Maybe sake too when they reach their teens."

"Psh." Sanji rolled his eyes. "Who's to say they won't choose smoking as their vice?"

"Both." They said, munching on their biscuits as they muffled their yawn.

"We are a terrible influence on children." Sanji said, lighting a new cigarette.

"What was that Marine thinking?" Zoro snorted. "As if any child of mine could be anything less than a menace."

They all laughed at that.

Idia: *sighs heavily* In order for this to work, we need someone willing to go outside.

Ignihyde: *stares silently at screens in horrified introvert*

Ortho: *professional shit-stirrer pointing at one of the couches* What about Alastor-nii? He goes outside every day! :)

Idia + Ignihyde: *slow turn to stare at the who went to the common room in person* e-extrovert? *fight flight freeze instinct activated*

Alastor: *looks like death warmed over, is laying upside down on a the long lounge, pot of coffee in hand and surrounded by energy drinks*

Ortho: *viscously pleased he'd introduced Alastor and his brother*

Alastor: *notices the floating tablets* have I finally overdosed on extroverts or are there people here?

Ignihyde + Idia: *instant relief* introvert established

Ortho: *proud of himself* Nii-san needs you to talk to some people, Alastor-nii!

Alastor: *internally crying as he poured an energy drink in the mostly full coffee pot and chugged, looking nonchalant* that's nice, email me and I'll do it tomorrow
