Moog's gone modular!!!!
Moog has just brought out the 500 series Ladder Filter, the first (of hopefully more) moog modulars available for modular enthusiast.
The Ladder - Moog Music’s first 500 series module! Step up with The Ladder      The Ladder is a Dynamic Transistor Ladder Filter that is based on Bob Moog's original ladder filter designs. Don't be fooled by it’s small size, The Ladder is a powerful and fantastic sound sculpting tool that allows for creative and unique sound shifting and shaping. By design, The Ladder sports the smoothest all analog Low Pass and High Pass filter section. Simply adjust the Cutoff knob to add vibe, warmth or tonal adjustment.  Choose LP to add analog vibe and warmth to a sound or select HP for sweetening and relieving the heft of a sound.  The Envelope section of The Ladder is where things get really cool:  -       Variable Attack and Release controls allow you to perfectly dial in the behavior of The Ladder's envelope section. Use these controls to open and close the envelope as fast as lightning, or slow as molasses.  -       Use the Amount control in Positive or Negative mode for mild to extreme sound shaping and manipulation. From slight timbral excitement and voicing to extreme compression-like behavior. Even reversed filter action is achievable!  -       The Resonance control used with The Ladder’s other features allows for the creation of sweet, dynamic and even speech like behavior. Use it to tune The Ladder to a sound source… or not. You can excite or accentuate specific frequencies as well as create completely new unique and wild sounds.
NOTE: The Ladder's Resonance control will push the unit into self-oscillation. This can be used for effect if desired. The 2Pole/4Pole switch allows you to select how aggressive your filter slope is. 2 pole is equal to 12db per octave which is smooth and sweet, while 4 pole is 24db per octave which is hard and aggressive. You also have a hard wire Bypass for totally transparent routing and A/B comparison. The Ladder isn't your average filter. It's a big step up.

WARNING: ALL MAC BASED COMPUTER MUSICIANS DON'T UPGRADE TO LION!!!
Posted on Synthtopia.com (http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2011/07/22/music-computer-os-x-lion/)
OS X Lion – the latest super whiz-bang update to Apple’s computer operating system – is out, and you were probably starting to wonder if the apple-philes at Synthtopia were going to have some fawning post telling you how awesome it is, so you could post some clever, slightly bitchy comment.
Well – no such luck.
In fact – as cool as OS X Lion may be, don’t upgrade your music computer to it yet, or kitties will suffer. And puppies, too.
Why?
Many major music apps have yet to be updated for OS X Lion. If you upgrade now, there’s a strong likelihood that you’ll run into some serious headaches which will take a lot of time and effort to sort out, leaving pets everywhere without a friend.
How big are the OS X problems for musicians? Here’s the rundown.
Here are the updates we’ve seen:
Ableton – don’t update or kitties will suffer; an update is on the way.
Algoriddim – djay updated with some sweet features.
Apogee – still testing its products.
Apple Garage Band – latest version should work.
Apple Logic Pro – use 9.1.4 or later.
Avid Pro Tools – more kitties will suffer; “As of this writing Pro Tools 9 and all earlier versions of Pro Tools software are not compatible and will not work with OS X Lion.”
Cockos Reaper – appear to be only minor compatibility issues, based onforum reports.
Cakewalk Sonar – keep dreaming.
Focusrite – still testing their product line.
Madrona Labs – waiting on DAWs to be updated to test Aalto.
M-Audio – many devices have been qualified, but see their site for details:
Axiom Pro 25/49/61 Firmware Updater
Conectiv*
Fast Track
Fast Track Pro
Fast Track Ultra
Fast Track Ultra 8R
Fast Track USB
KeyStudio 49i
M-Audio Black Box
Micro USB
MobilePre MKII
MobilePre USB
Producer USB
ProFire 610
ProFire 2626
ProKeys Sono 61
ProKeys Sono 88
Pro Tools SE 8.0.3 – Patch 003 required
Transit USB
Venom
Xponent*
MOTU – current versions of MOTU software and hardware drivers appear to be compatible with Lion, although final compatibility testing is still on-going. Digital Performer 7.2.3 is currently not compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion). Wait for an upcoming release of Digital Performer (7.2.4) before you upgrade.  Updates here.
Native Instruments - kittens will suffer; “refrain from updating to Mac OS X 10.7 for the time being’, Battery 3.2.2 has been qualified, updates here.
Propellerhead – Reason & Record fully compatible; Recycle not compatible and update is in the works. Info here.
Focusrite – issues with Saffire PRO 14, Saffire PRO 24, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, Saffire PRO 40, Liquid Saffire 56, Liquid Mix HD, Forté Suite & Scarlett Plug-In Suite.
Novation – known issues with Automap, Nio.
Sibelius – 6.2 or higher should work
Steinberg – they’ve published a compatibility chart; known issues with Cubase, Groove Agent, Halion, Nuendo.
If you’ve got additional information, please leave a comment or link below. And, if you’ve upgraded to OS X Lion, let us know how it’s working!

Drowned City
Drowned City Teaser 1 from Pundersons Gardens on Vimeo.
Drowned City Teaser 2 from Pundersons Gardens on Vimeo.
SYNOPSIS
The traditional definition of ‘piracy’ refers to robbery or other criminal acts committed by private parties at sea. In modern history, the term also became attributed to radio senders who contravened the monopoly on the airwaves. Since the early 1960s, the number of radio stations and individuals broadcasting illegally in the U.K. has grown exponentially.
Drowned City is a documentary film about the people who devote themselves to pirate radio in London. The film takes a journey with today's youth who spend their days and nights transmitting from tower blocks and warehouses; with nostalgic, experienced ex-pirates who have lost their battles with Ofcom and paid the price; and with mainstream stars who owe their fame and fortune today to their early start in pirate radio. Through unprecedented access to the secret lives of pirates, we are offered the opportunity to ask why these individuals take such enormous risks for illegal broadcasting. The stories told by key characters provide insight into the poignant affect pirate radio has had on their lives.
Whether seen as an alternative to a life of serious crime, an opportunity to express themselves, or the thrill of the chase from the authorities, pirate radio culture in London has had a profound impact on the characters explored in Drowned City.

Euclidean Rhythms MIDI Pattern Demo
An interesting Java based pattern generator from Wouter Hisschemoller, for both Mac and Windows.
Features
Double click anywhere in the lower panel to generate a new pattern. A new pattern is 16 steps with 4 notes by default. Click a pattern’s center circle to select the pattern. A selected pattern shows a double center ring and it’s settings are displayed on the panel at the right. Drag a pattern’s center circle to move the pattern. So you can visually reorganize your screen when there’s a lot of patterns. All patterns with their settings and location can be saved in a file. This is a regular XML text file. The File menu has the familiar New, Open, Save and Save As options. The project tempo is saved in the file as well.
