Title: TASA Program Booklet
Instructor: Tuan Phan
I created a program booklet for a conference called TASA that was held at St. Edward's University. I chose a striking color scheme to contrast and allow legibility. This project I focused on my use of the grid, colors and planning the layout.

Title: Location Place: Motion

Title: Identity Series
Instructor: Angela Dart
In this project, I designed a system of buttons marketed towards the Blanton Museum for a Graphic Design History Exhibition. I focused on the Bauhaus period and used the influence of designers, their work, and designed a specific button in that designers style for the Blanton Museum. I portrayed this on a cork board setting to enhance the playful nature of buttons and highlight them as a center piece to the image.

Title: Visual Grammar: Gestalt Principles
Instructor: Lorena Howard
We have included 3 things; A matrix of designs organized by designer/gestalt principle, a collection of just the images put in each gestalt principle (I felt you could understand the principle better this way but you miss out on the designer), and a short bio of each artist.

Title: Concept Map: Civil Rights Movement Post WWII
Instructor: Natalie Davis
I created a concept map influenced by Venn Diagrams illustrating the history of the Civil Rights Movement after 1945. I created two infographics, one is a timeline of the history with dates, the other showing the difference in African American registered voters in 1945 and 2010.

Title: Tribe Comics and Games Site Redesign
Instructor: Kim Garza
For this project, we chose a local Austin businesses website to redesign. I chose Tribe Comics and Games website. There was a great opportunity to have fun with the website with the use of the comic book theme. I most improved on providing a playful background for the website and also began a database of comics provided for the websites user.

A Field Guide: Congress Avenue Architecture
Title: A Field Guide: Congress Avenue Architecture
Instructor: Natalie Davis
I focused on the architecture of North Congress Avenue for my field guide book. The sky line is a defining aspect of Austin, Tx. This field guide provides information on the buildings architects, history, and current use of the buildings. I chose to reflect the aspect of blueprints in my design of the book, creating vectors of the buildings, and creating a system on each page using blue dashed lines to highlight aspects of each building layout. I bound the book with a perfect bind.

Title: Design for a Cause
Instructor: Lorena Howard
For this project, I chose to design a universal design that could benefit local businesses. It is important to buy locally from restaurants, groceries, and shops and I wanted to create a sign that people could recognize. The color red stands out and catches peoples eye, and the design similarly mimics another sign that says "Come on in, We're Open".

Title: Weather Report
Course: Advanced Issues In Typography
Instructor: Tuan Phan
In this project, we explored the idea of type in motion. We created a weather report for four different cities. My project shows them in time (days of the week), and hierarchy. This was a challenge for me at first to wrap my head around the concept of using motion as a aid not necessarily the tool. This project did expand my thought about type.

Title: Isomorphism
Course: Graphic Design II
Instructor: Angela Dart
For this project we chose a word from a list to create a poster performing what that word means. I chose the word "isomorphism". Isomorphism in design is the concept of the way humans make a connection between something visual and a personal experience. I chose to use an eye as a representation of us seeing something that is designed and recreating a memory or how it makes us feel.

Title: How to Mail A Package to A Soldier
Course: Graphic Design II
Instructor: Angela Dart
Our project was to create and instruction guide for something relatively everyone knows how to do. I chose "how to mail a package" and then decided to narrow that topic to "how to mail a package to a soldier".  I felt that a brochure would be impractical because technology is the main source of information in our society. I chose to create an instructional video to challenge myself and better my skills in AfterEffects and using type in motion.

Title: Pop
Course: Image Methodology
Instructor: Kim Garza
I challenged myself to create a type face from a material that is generally not used to create words. I made a bubble with the gum and formed the letters by letting them fall after being popped. Bubble gum is an American icon so, I created an environment that reflected the "All-American".

Title: Design Element Scavenger Hunt
Course: Image Methodology
Instructor: Kim Garza
The project was a challenge to create a "scavenger hunt" in pictures of design elements. I began with a picture of the crack in the sidewalk that showed "line". My second picture conveys "depth", the third is "color", the fourth is "value", the fifth is "texture", and the sixth is "shape". Through out my photo series, I made a visual connection from one photo to the next to create a sense of movement between my 6 photographs. Also, each photograph contains the design element from the preceding photo plus its own.

Title: Earthquake Metaphor
Course: Image Methodology
Instructor: Kim Garza
For this project, I chose the scientific theory "Earthquake" to create a metaphor for. In my story, two sharks begin fighting, mirroring two things having friction in the beginning of an earthquake. One shark pushes the other into a mermaid castle creating an explosion, leaving a large amount of rubble. Earthquakes destroy and cause destruction. I used photographs, scans of objects and materials, and Illustrator to create my characters, background, and scene. I created my video in Adobe AfterEffects
