My headcanon about Itachi is that he didn't know how to swim until he was ten. Then his grandpa decided to teach him the same way he did his dad. By throwing him into a river and yelling about honour, pride and strength. While Itachi is actively getting trauma and using all his strength to not drown.

I like the idea of Itachi hallucinating with Shisui, sometimes it is just a whisper of his voice, and sometimes it is a full-blown apparition like a ghost of sins past where Itachi doesn't know what hurts more when it appears, the calm smile and his black eyes full of understanding or the disappointed look.
