Remember that Nor’easter we had on the East Coast? Well, we lost power — well, Claire & Oliver lost power. I was on a weekend-long shoot in the Hudson Valley, feeling helpless. #BGE switched ya back on a little over a day later. Pfffew! Earlier that week, Hughes Landscaping cut down a huge tree in our backyard, and covered our backyard in sod. ❤️ Our backyard looked perfect... for a few days. Then all that wind uprooted one of our shrubs, pulling some of that fresh sod with it & wrecking our fence. Nature’s always there to remind us why we can’t have nice things. 😔 Heh. So... I decided to pull out some lights and make photos. It’s still a pretty cool scene. Guys! Spring Training starts TODAY! I’m so pumped! I love #baseball & I LOVE shooting it. Hands down, It’s my favorite sport! Admittedly, I’ve been out of sync with MLB for years, but I’ve been trying to get back in the know. Last year I had the amazing fortune to photograph The American Legion World Series in Shelby, NC for @TheAmericanLegion. It was really fun & I got to shoot alongside the lovely and talented @lucascarter! — who introduced me to the wonders of Cookout! Also... It was such a wet, rainy week a local doctor who owned his own helicopter used it to help dry the field! Last night we said goodbye to our #tree. We recently found out the soil in our backyard has super-high levels of #lead -- a not uncommon phenomenon in #Baltimore. Complete soil replacement is expensive, but covering the soil, like with sod, creates an effective barrier from the poison in our dirt. But we had a shade problem. Sod needs sun, so our tree needed to go. ...which is sad, but Oliver will have a field of grass to play in. And more importantly, he'll be safe. So… thank you tree. HAPPY 36th #Birthday to my favorite person EVER — CLAIRE! We stayed the night at @monacobaltimore ordered room service, Claire took advantage of the Enormous soaking tub, we fell asleep watching Law & Order SVU. Oh Man! What a great first clip from @nytimes to start off my New Year! Anton Dahbura, and his wife, Marlaina R. Miller, who provide analytics to a baseball team in Mexico, watched a game streamed from there at their home in Hagerstown, Md. Much of their advice of late has been ignored. I used a @camranger, 2 @profotousa #B1’s, a #nikonusa #d850 and patience for the right #reaction from a somewhat slow game.
