The majestic entrance of Badshahi Masjid (Imperial Mosque) always gives a sense of elevation to its visitors. Built by Emporer Aurangzeb, this mosque can accommodate ten thousand prayers at a time. This mosque was deliberately built on a higher platform to avoid flooding from river Ravi which use to flow nearby. For the visitors, it takes 20 flight of stairs to reach the top of the platform. The visible watchtower of Al Hail (Al Hayl) is part of a fort which is situated deep inside the Al Hajar hill range towering over an old village of Al Hayl in Fujairah. This fort dates back to 1830 indicating of a Portuguese origin. However, later at the beginning of 20th century, this fort was used by the royal family of Fujairah as their summer escape due to its relatively cool environment and date palm plantation under its foothill. Deer Tower (Hiran Minar) is a 17th-century Mughal era complex built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in honor of his pet antelope. The site was a reserve for the royal family for hunting games. This place was selected to experience the wilderness near the imperial city of Lahore. Here the Emperor's favorite pet antelope use to lure wild animals into the trap build along the water reserve to be hunted. The complex itself consists of the famous minaret (as in the extreme right), a large water body, and an octagonal pavilion in its center. This pavilion is joined to the mainland via a broad causeway. The area which I fell in love in Qatar was Souq Waqif. Established a century ago on a dry river bed of Wadi Musheireb, the souq was center used by traders for verities of goods, livestock, and point of gathering. After seeing negligence and decline with modernization, in 2006 the area was revived. It is now a refined tourist spot selling traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs along with varieties of restaurants creating a unique ambiance and experience for its visitors.
