Hello there! I'm Megan. I'm currently working as a junior designer.
Feel free to take a look at my blog, and hop over to my website if you'd like to see more of my work: meganbrowndesign.co.uk
I have spent the last week down in London with a few of my fellow Grillust comrades to exhibit our work at New Designers - an exhibition for graduate creatives just like myself.
I have THE best week experiencing life in the big smoke with my closest friends, hanging out with the folks over at It’s Nice That, concurring the tube on my own and trying my first ever salt beef bagel (the nicest thing i’ve ever tasted seriously you NEED to try one) amongst other things.
Now i’m back in sunny ol’ Blackpool ready to face the real world and look for a job.
I’ve spent the last two weeks on placement at Cactus Creative, a small design studio in Kendal. I have had an awesome time, working on things from leaflets to logos to photographing work. Yesterday I worked on some vector artwork, something i’ve never really done before but thoroughly enjoyed. Here’s a sneak peak at what I did (because I can’t show you the rest) .
Here is some hotel branding i’ve been working on for the last week or so...
The brief was to brand a funky hotel in Helsinki. Aiming my design at young creative people and taking inspiration from Scandinavian design and Wes Andersons work on The Grand Budapest Hotel (the idea being that in my hotel everything with be branded in this way, from key cards and room signs to bottled water and milk sachets), this is what i came up with.
— Yesterday I decided to challenge myself. Can I do a brief in a day? The challenge was to create a new logo for Cumbria Coaching Network. They had asked students in my year to create a logo, and they will choose a winner from the entrants.
I started the project at about 10am and sent it off to CCNet at 7:30pm.
Here is the finished article:
All in all i’m quite happy with the outcome. A good days work and another project to put in my portfolio —
