And this is why I am making a conscious effort to get back in tune with myself. I no longer want to hide myself due to the fear of being seen and judged. As an introvert, not wanting to be perceived by others is a daily thing for me. However, it's often at the cost of hiding myself, and as an adult, it is really starting to take a toll on me. I was also raised in a strict, religious household where I couldn't do, say, dress, or behave in certain ways because it was seen as bad/unholy/demonic/worldly/unlike Christ and whatever else religious people come up with. So hiding myself became easier and easier since I learned early on that I wasn't allowed to be myself.

But I am tired of that. It hurts that so much of who I am, what I liked, and so many other things was snuffed out at such an early age. I am slowly coming to the realization that this has greatly impacted who I am as an adult, how I behave, and how that reflects in my creativity. And unfortunately, my creativity has been very stunted. I can fully admit now that the way I was raised did more harm than good when it comes to embracing who I am and all the things that entails.

I am ready to be unapologetically myself and I don't owe anyone an explanation for that. I am not a late bloomer. I bloomed just fine, but my petals were clipped. I'm not allowing anyone to cut my petals anymore.
