I love the way Atsushi and Akutagawa's character seem to be opposite yet still connect with the other.

Atsushi does the right thing constantly and tries to save everyone he can because he believes he doesn't deserve to live otherwise. While it is due to the beliefs that were ingrained in his mind from his time in the orphanage, it doesn't go beyond that, and he feels as if he is obligated to do so. He is controlled by that belief.

Akutagawa on the other hand, saves others and does the better thing out of his own will. He doesn’t do it often though, which also contributes to the opposite they have.
