I love You Now, I Love You Never

jamil x azul angst

Jamil knew Azul loved him, In fact everyone at NRC knew. You’d have to be blind to not see how differently he treated the vice-housewarden, always offering him deals no one could ever dream of getting with how stingy Monstro Lounge is. And yet Jamil turned a blind eye to each and every one of his attempts at confessing, always claiming to be too busy with Kalim to join him for dinner and avoiding him as if he was the plague whenever Azul was invited to one of Kalim’s numerous parties. It’s not like Jamil hated Azul, on the contrary he was very much head over heels for the Octavinell housewarden. And yet, despite desperately wanting to be with him, Jamil knew that dating, let alone marrying, Azul won’t be a possibility.

Jamil wouldn’t be able to live with himself if Azul got roped into becoming a servant for the Al-Asims. Azul had so much potential and a great life ahead of him and Jamil didn’t want him to throw his life away just to be with someone like him. He couldn’t just leave his family either, if he did they would immediately cut contact with, calling him a disgrace to his family. And so to avoid either scenario Jamil decided to avoid Azul at all cost in hopes of both of their feelings for each other going away. Life had other plans however, and now he’s stuck facing his feelings head on. Maybe it was because of how late last night's party had ended or maybe it was because basketball practice went for much longer than usual, but Jamil ended up being far too exhausted to watch out for Azul. And now here he was trying to keep his composure in the face of the man he so desperately wished to date. “I really like you… and I want to take you out to dinner if you’ll let me.” Jamil stayed silent for a bit before muttering the words that would haunt forever. “I don’t know what led you to believe I liked you, but I don’t have time to play along with your little fantasy.” And so he turned and walked away as fast as he could, not wanting to see the heartbroken face of the man he loved.

He knew it was for the best, things wouldn’t work out between them, they were from two completely different worlds, Azul could find someone better, someone who could give him all he wished and more. Someone who wasn’t Jamil. Someone who Jamil could never compete with. Jamil cried himself to sleep that night. Quietly of course, he didn’t want to wake Kalim up.
