I am glad Louis got freedom for once in his life and had color come along with the acceptance of the death of those he loved (Claudia and Paul). That being said, they clearly just wanted to rush through this finale to get to the TVL season and give Lestat a quickie redemption arc. Which....ok I guess

also i feel like i'm interpreting the Big Armand Reveal™ differently than a lot of ppl bc i thought the reason louis got angry was bc armand claimed that he wasn't as involved and just let it happen but it turns out he was a very active participant and is finally realizing that he really can never believe anything armand's ever told him. i truly do not think that armand was going to let louis die in the play like i truly don't but i think he did take credit for lestat's big gesture bc it feeds his narrative. daniel's assessment is that armand was gonna let louis die but i think armand's plan was always to get louis out of there. like that's canon from the books and in line w his characterization on the show that he would rehearse the play to perfection w the coven but plan a moment to get louis out but the bigger problem is that there's no reality in which louis will ever believe anything armand says ever again. at this point, louis trusts daniel more than armand and if armand tries to argue that he would never want to kill louis it just won't sound believable after everything else

Guys. Louis says the thing about how they were on trial for murder and all he could think of was that lestat was coming bc he’s terrified and doesnt want to see him. Do we understand this. Louis is not kicking his feet and twirling his hair. He is petrified bc he still remembers what happened the time he even contemplated leaving Lestat in 1.05. He says this line because in that specific moment, he fears Lestat’s wrath more than the coven and their trial.

like it seems extremely obvious to me that they had Madeline confirm that Louis does love Armand to make it all scarier and worse. Like yes he loved lestat and that all went to shit and then he found someone else he could love against literally all odds and that went to shit even faster. And he didn’t even get to run away this time. Like from their first kiss onward Louis is constantly trying to negotiate a way to love this person that doesn’t look like the way he loved lestat and doesnt kill his spirit in the same manner—he refuses to call him his companion, he’s willing to say I love you, he “”””doms””” him—but none of that works, and eventually he just gives in, once again forced to live in misery with this person he loves, that he could’ve, maybe been happy with, if only it had all been different!!! Like I was sort of unconcerned and even annoyed with the question of love in this face of all the power plays only for the show to be like NO!!! he actually did love both of these people and they both destroyed him so sit with that you stupid bitch
