Idk if this will get seen, but I thought I’d try! does anyone know of any good fics that address how Dean treated Jack in seasons 13-15, or the conflicts between him and Cas? I know there was the purgaytory apology, but I just need more exploration of that, because looking back, Dean was just cruel to Jack and didn’t care at all about Cas’s grief. He deserved more time to be angry, and Jack deserved a bigger apology imo.

Hey y’all! I’ve never promoted my fic on here but I thought I’d give it a shot. This is my first SPN work and first completed long fic, and my pride and joy 🥹 Full of hijinks, husbandism, angst/bickering, cuddling and making up, Cas being a flirty bitchy bastard, Dadstiel, Dad!Dean, and healing. I included an excerpt so you can get a feel for the formatting and see if you like it!

I think it's amazing that even as godstiel in 6x22 & 7x01, he can't take his eyes off Dean. Insanity and memory loss as Emanuel can't stop the eye-sex lol. But it was scary though that if they hadn't bound death in 7x01 godstiel would have killed...

Hi, Nonnie! Something about Godstiel I liked was that the fist thing he wanted was for Dean and the others to profess their love onto him. In a very long post about Destiel over the course of the seasons, I explained why Godstiel was so desperate to be loved. 

“Cas desperately wanted Dean to have faith in him, but Dean didn’t. In Cas’ notebook, that meant Dean didn’t love him (no matter if he said Cas was family or that he would have died for Cas). Castiel had to finish what he had started. To defeat Raphael, he made very bad decisions. The ends justified the means, so he hurt Sam in the process. Castiel was disappointed. Nobody had faith in him, nobody loved him. That’s why he told Dean “You’re not my family” in 6x22, and that’s probably why the first thing he said as Godstiel was “You will bow down and profess your love unto me.” (x)

In 7x01, we see again that Godstiel really wanted love. When Bobby, Sam and Dean started to kneel, he said, “Stop. What’s the point if you don’t mean it? You fear me. Not love, not respect, just fear.”

I don’t understand the last part of your ask, nonnie, “If they hadn’t bound death in 7x01 godstiel would have killed…” Who would godstiel have killed? 

But at least, because of your ask, I went back to the scene where Dean, Bobby and Sam bound Death, and I realized something. When they were asking Death to kill “god”, Godstiel immediately appeared out of nowhere and said, “You’ve erased any nostalgia I had for you, Dean.” He didn’t have nostalgia for all of them. He singled Dean out AGAIN, and I hadn’t even realized. I’ll just share this:

Once Godstiel freed Death, he disappeared without killing Dean or the others. However, some seconds before that, when Dean ordered Death to kill Cas, Godstiel glanced at Dean, and they looked at each other like this:

Apparently, the nostalgia he had for Dean was still there. When Cas saw that everything he was doing was so wrong Dean was willing to kill him or ask Death himself to kill him, he probably started to realize that he needed help. That’s why Cas went to Sam when Sam called him. 

Despite all, Cas’ main concern was Dean as we could see at the end of the episode:

CASTIEL: Dean?

DEAN: What, you need something else?

CASTIEL: No. I feel regret, about you and what I did to Sam.

DEAN: Yeah, well, you should.

CASTIEL: If there was time, if I was strong enough, I’d – I’d fix him now. I just wanted to make amends before I die.

DEAN: Okay.

CASTIEL: Is it working?

DEAN: Does it make you feel better?

CASTIEL: No. You?

DEAN: Not a bit.

And Dean… my precious baby was hurt about what Cas did to Sam and about Castiel’s behavior as Godstiel, but… his question gives me life. “DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER?” Dean didn’t want to make Castiel feel even more guilt, not when he knew Cas was probably about to die. 

Cas’ last words (or the ones he thought were his last words) were “I’m sorry, Dean.” He didn’t make a general apology. He singled Dean out. As usual. 

Dean, on the other hand, hurt and all, didn’t want to give up on Cas. “Is he breathing?” “Maybe angels don’t need to breathe.” Once they realized Cas was alive, Castiel said, “I’m gonna find some way to redeem myself to you. […] I mean it, Dean.” He was still worried about how Dean felt. His main concern was to redeem himself to Dean, not to everybody. Dean was never angry at Cas in spite of everything that had happened. He said things like, “All right, well, one thing at a time. Come on. Let’s get you out of here. Come on.” That meant he didn’t want to make a big deal out of Cas wanting to redeem himself to him, but he was leaving the door open. They fixed the problem with the souls, the next thing they could fix was their relationship (”one thing at a time”). However, he wasn’t planning to leave Cas alone (”let’s get you out of here”). 

When the Leviathans started taking control over Cas, Dean didn’t run. He wasn’t planning to leave Cas alone even if Cas himself was telling them to run. Dean told Bobby, “Go! Go get Sam! Go get Sam!”, but he stayed. In the end, Leviathan!Cas took over before Bobby could go, but I just realized that everything Dean did in 7x01 proved how much he cared about Cas no matter how angry he was at his angel. 

Geez… I’m sorry for all this. I don’t even remember why I ended up writing so much. You made me rewatch 7x01 and I guess the episode gave me too many feels. I hope this makes at least some kind of sense.

opening a bar (as shown to be a fantasy of his)

opening a gay bar (my preferred ending)

working with kids, potentially at a home like sonny's

working as a mechanic, eventually specializing in vintage cars

becoming the new bobby, helping the next generation of hunters

being a stay-at-home dad with his husband castiel as the breadwinner (cas doesn't work either he just steals money from rich assholes using his powers and calls it being a breadwinner)

(he's with cas for all of these btw in case that wasn't obvious)

spending like a good decade traveling the world via angel express and enjoying his retirement from hunting

becoming a rock star with a cult following, a significant portion of which love sharing around conspiracy theories that he's actually a serial killer who faked his own death and started fresh with a new identity (no one seriously believes this)

becoming a sheep herder (it's the closest thing to a modern-day cowboy he can get. he gets to wear the hat and everything)

moving to hollywood and becoming an actor under the pseudonym jensen ackles

becoming a successful writer purely to spite chuck, outselling the supernatural series easily and receiving rave reviews for his refreshing style and devastating depictions of childhood trauma and breaking the cycle of abuse

building a space ship and searching the galaxy for intelligent life

literally anything other than what happened on the show
