hi! i just finished reading the priory and I really liked it. Although i did have a little trouble trying to understand the political system and religion in Inys. just wondering if there was a guide that you had for it or if it's based on something? because honestly I'm still a little confused on that front. All the dukes, earls, viscounts and knights titles were slightly difficult to place hierarchically.

he grew up so fast and had so much potential but he will not regret what he became no matter what she says, no matter who his father prefers
I’ve grown really attached to the idea of Athena being a mentor figure to Ares.
She taught him how to hold a spear, how to use an enemy’s weakness against them, how to win a war the most effective way, and he hung onto her every word.
His first battle comes, and he becomes so drunk on the bloodlust and violence that he forgets all of Athena’s teachings, and decides this is the path he wants to go on.
That’s when their relationship becomes strained; they’re always fighting on opposite sides, but they still remember those times before Ares became the God of War.
And they’ll always cherish those memories.

AND
good is spread through memory. Good inspires. The little things we enjoy inspire others to enjoy little things.
And it's so wonderful to think that, in a way or another, stories can change the world and change people. We may not be soldiers. We may not be kings and queens, but the poets and the writers can change the word. They *have* changed the world through their words.
To inspire.
To do the unnecessary because it's what keeps us truly alive and remembered.
Through the marks we leave on others.
It's comforting, to read or watch something and go "im not the only one thats fucked up", and feel seen not personally enough to want to hide.
the more i think about it, the more I realize that I'm not as scared of being forgotten than I am scared of not living. Maybe I should be. People who will remember me will not always remember be for good. They might just close their history book and be done with it, and gods, if I was an old legendary emperor praised by poets who conquered worlds, I could not take it, probably.
But I'm nobody like that. And, I think, that there is comfort in being forgotten sometimes. It may sound sad. But if people forget you, they will forget the bad you've done (and consequently the good too prob), unless it's the only thing they choose to see as humanity often does.
There is comfort, I think, in being invisible. There is freedom in invisibility, sometimes. Just do things because who is even looking at you honestly? But then fear strikes when someone's gaze falls on you after a long time.
Just thoughts.

hi, i just finished Circe by madeline Miller, and im gonna make it my personality for months. anyways here are some warrior penelope hcs inspired by it (Circe saga edition)
- when ctimene comes back and tells pen about the "monster", and then goes "..a woman." Pen's first reaction is basically "oh does she perchance wanna join our fleet" because a witch is very useful yk, and the description of Circe is just badass.
- wouldn't you like is a little bit different. I don't really want to change Hermes, because he's the one who gives Odysseus the moly in the Odyssey, HOWEVER! I think that it would be cool to have Iris help her too, as she's a messenger too and bla bla and I already saw this around. So the song is not about Hermes trying to give Pen drugs, but its about WHO gets to give her their very special thing, Hermes or Iris. So a lot of the song and scene would be a duet/roast battle between them trying make Penelope choose. I like to think that they know each other pretty well considering the amount of "im sorry for cheating" messages Zeus had to send to Hera through Hermes who then gave them to Iris, messenger of Hera. There's this playful rivalry between them. ALSO. Hermes has "darling", Iris has "sweetheart".
- in done for, Circe was actually expecting a man, so when Penelope the boss of the fleet comes, she's surprised and actually offers to teach her magic (as one of her tricks and pen sees right through it? Or no?), but Penelope just wants her men back so they still fight.
- there are other ways is just the same. Even rocks are charmed by Circe.

thinking about it Tumblr is also one of my digital notebooks/sketchbooks but not as full of madness. Yet.
I love my notebook or whatever you call it because you flip it once and see the most philosophical thought process about life and death and beauty, and then the next eight pages are the fruit of mental breakdown. In detail. And the next pages after THAT are incoherent rambles about people that do not fucking exist. And there's also the grocery list sometimes

Can you explain how you went about naming some of the characters and locations in TPOTOT? I’m an aspiring writer and trying to name everything makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
I'm an etymology enthusiast, so I take a lot of care and joy in building the Priory names. Mostly they come from archaic, extinct and proto-languages.
Some examples, from my terrifying 7000-word document that lists all the name origins:
KAGUDO – From Proto-Bantu, kádà (‘ember’) + gòdò (‘yesterday evening’)
MITA – From Sumerian mí (‘woman’) + ta (‘polished, pure, reliable’)
KOMORIDU – From Old Japanese, komoridu (‘hidden place’), from komor- (‘be secluded’) + tu (‘harbour’)
