Welcome to my blog! I started this here as a journal of sorts as I have D.I.D. as well as CPTSD and ADHD and sometimes need a void to scream in to. However, I will be adding creative projects here as well. Thanks for stopping by!

This summer has been pretty good so far. Us and our husband have been working hard to sell marshmallows at the farmer’s market to survive the summer (my husband is an elementary school aide so he doesn’t have work when school’s out). However we are also creating bookmarks, earrings and other crafts to sell to help raise money for some homeless family. Anyway I mostly wanted to post the bookmarks we’ve personally made. It’s been a lot of fun! (Also my sibling-in-law started the trend with people who have objects for heads and it’s been fun to play around with. The one with the blueberry and strawberry were split into two after the pic)

Oof that might explain a few things… We have been trying to tackle our childhood trauma in therapy and it’s been hard especially with flashbacks. 😮💨
- Nova
DID symptoms that people don't talk enough about
The cycle of forgetting and then re-remembering trauma memories
Constant depersonalization and derealization
Feeling as if you're stuck living someone else's life
Failure to plan for the future because nothing feels real + losing time
Thinking a flashback is over when you've actually just dissociated away from it, and having it resume as soon as you stop dissociating
Dissociative stupor/trance
Alexithymia
Identity issues outside of alters
Inability to connect with other people
Being unable to tell if you've healed from a past problem/trauma or if you've just dissociated away from it
Not learning from past mistakes because of amnesia and dissociation
Feeling nothing psychologically despite physical shaking, racing heart, nausea, crying, etc
The extreme disorientation + identity confusion that comes with co-consciousness and co-fronting
Somatic flashbacks
Being triggered by your own DID symptoms because you know the only reason you're experiencing any of this is because of what they did to you

Made some orange earrings and bookmarks to sell at the local farmer’s market. We’ve been doing well selling marshmallows and crafts (which this is the third year in a row doing markets), and are currently trying to raise money for some homeless family. Been having fun coming up with unique art for every bookmark especially. We’ll post more later too!

This is similar to how we’ve explained it to friends. We usually use a driver as our metaphor and tell them to imagine if there’s other people trying to get their hand on the wheel all at once. That can be rapid switching for us sometimes.
Here’s my metaphor for systemhood that I tell my singlet friends.
Imagine you’re playing a first person video game. You have the controller, you control your character. It’s a normal first person game. You are an alter, the character is the body. This is fronting.
Other people live with you. Sometimes, they come into the room and sit and watch while you play. They sometimes try to guide you, give you advice on what to do next. They don’t always agree, and they can argue with each other. Other times they scream at you that you’re doing everything wrong and you suck at this game. This is co-consciousness.
Imagine how distracting it would be for people around you to tell you what to do, or to scream at each other or at you, even if they have good intentions. It wouldn’t be easy to focus on your game, would it?
Then sometimes, something happens in the game that prompts you to hand off the controller to someone else so they can play and you get a break. This is (some types of) switching. This can be good.
Other times, someone rips the controller out of your hand or fights you for it. This is (other types of) switching. And sometimes, six other players hook up their controllers, but there’s only one character to play as. So all of you have your controllers, but you’re all trying to play the same character. This is cofronting.
Imagine how difficult that would be. Imagine how hard it would be to try and play a game while someone is trying to take the controller from you, or while six other people are trying to play too.
There are also times that nobody is playing, or you can’t decide who should play. What’s happening to the character in the game? What are they doing if no one is playing? This is dissociation. The character is doing nothing. They’re stuck.
This is the best metaphor I have come up with for being a system. It’s something a lot of people get because they’ve played games before.

Listening to audiobook versions of one of my favorite childhood series, Warriors. Just finished listening through The New Prophecy arc and wanted to use AI to help create versions of the 6 cats who made the journey. In order: Tawnypelt, Squirrelflight, Brambleclaw, Crowfeather, Feathertail and Stormfur. ✨

TW: Mention of self harm
Moving back in with our family has certainly presented quite a few issues. We honestly forgot what living with then was like and are finding a lot of hypocrisy from our mom in general. But we are also beginning to remember events from our childhood that have shaped our system into what it is. The flashbacks can occur at any time during times of high stress. We have been self harming again for the first time in several years because of this situation… it’s really scary. We have a good therapist at least to help us through this. We have so many things we are worried about right now and it’s become too much. If not for our husband I think that we would be much worse off…

Nice to meet you, we are Mira Calhoun & Co, though please feel free to refer to us simply as Mira & Co. Calhoun is simply our desired (future) last name. We are married to a partner system and have recently moved out to the boonies to live with our family as we were on the verge of being homeless. We went from being in a county of 1.2 million people to a county of 30k people. It’s… different. Nice, but definitely different. There’s a lot of Trump supporters out this way, unfortunately. We live only a few miles away from oil fields and so it draws in a lot of conservative folk. Our partner system was born female and has since transitioned to male. They stood out a lot at first, which made them nervous. They have since then found ways to be more male passing and people don’t give them weird looks as often anymore. We definitely feel out of place here still and probably will for a while. Only been a few months. Hopefully our partner system will find a way to fully transition in the future. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻. Anyway, nice to meet you! We mostly just want to chill and have fun. Later.
- Miles
