THE HEELS & THE MOM... The heels gave me more than a name. It gave me you! I started wearing heels on a normal basis when I was about 13-14. Even with my jeans in highschool... I had a short phase with sneakers and baggy jeans but mostly, I wore heels. And as years went by, they got thinner and higher. I was known for wearing heels to things no one else wore them. I even wore them to the countryside once and had to cross a river with rocks on them (long story). At the advertising agency in Madrid, the team of designers that worked on my Microsoft account knew I was coming to ask about the designs because of the noise my heels made when I walked. Today, they are part of my identity as a microinfluencer. What started as a possible blog and store to start something with my sister (reserved the url before I knew I was pregnant), ended in an instagram account to share my kid's pictures and then developed into an account where moms wanted to hear more about the working mom in the pictures. The shoes gave me a logo, you guys made it a symbol of my identity. When this quarantined life ends... ARTS & CRAFTS I love to teach through games we customize each day and having him develop his capacity to create. The pieces in my neck are part of a game to learn colors and shapes while developing fine motor skills and that day, he made me a necklace and made himself one with only one piece too. HOW TO REUSE BABY BOY CLOTHES FOR GIRLS When I learned I was having Juliana, it became obvious that I would have to get rid of David's baby clothes. However, I'm a firm believer that most clothes can be used in more than one way. So I gave away all the things that said "boys" or were very boyish with cars and trucks and kept a bunch of onesies, overalls, sneakers or shoes and pants. The onesie in this picture was David's and the pants on the second pic too. The trick is to pair it up with very girly pieces. If it's blue, pair it up with something pink or with bows. If it's too simple, maybe something with ruffles or sparkle. Don't throw away your boy clothes if you don't have to but if you still decide to get rid of it, give it to a mom friend or donate it to a single moms center for example. PEOPLE ASK ME...if I miss SPANISH FOOD. Well... as Spaniards, we cook a lot. We don't usually eat out every other day like Americans do. OCEAN DAY...Today we learned about the ocean. We dressed as sailors and explored David's room looking for all sea creatures we could find. Then we played flash cards with sea animals and also painted a few with "mucha agua". When we finished papi took a picture of us with one of the new animals David learned about today, the crab. In the end, David wanted more on animals so we started or zoo lessons and games. Now, watching the Little Mermaid with lunch. We've been seeing documentaries on the ocean like the dolphin one from @disneyplus as well. I wish I could have taken him to the @aquaticaorlando or @seaworldorlando and to the beach this weekend. But that will come next year. Yesterday we FACETIMED with the EASTER BUNNY!!! We dod a live interview with the Easter mascot thanks to @pooofproductions . Did you know he speaks English and Spanish? He told us how he is also taking care with the virus by practicing social distance. He is desinfecting all the eggs, wearing gloves when he leaves them and since he can't spend time with the kids in person to take pictures, he is having videoconferences with them worldwide and saluting them from the street in some cases. @pooofproductions is also building rainbow archs as a sign of hope in the front porches or yards of homes with balloons and connecting kids through videoconference with their favorite characters for birthdays or as a way to lift their spirits. I'M BACK! Never been too good at this maternity leave thing. It's been 1 month since I had my c-section and in the last two weeks I started having calls and conversations and I'm fully reactivated. WHEN THEY'RE AWAKE Babies sleep a lot in very short intervals of time. Sleep when they sleep they say...well, that's when I try to work (if David let's me) because when she's awake I have to take advantage. I have a bed in my office for when I need naps or to work so late that I don't want to wake my husband. But that bed doesn't see me nap anymore. No time for that.
